QuickTax/TurboTax
I've been using these products around 16 years. I've tried other products but have always come back. The ease of use makes it the best product for the money.
The only thing missing is I can't print the Tax Summery.

Good Tax Software
This is a good tax software. You can do your taxes by answering questions or for the more experienced person you can go straight to the forms. I would recommend this software to my friends.

donations
found separating donations between couples confusing and difficult. Each person wanted to claim their own donations due to sizable amounts and wanting to claim donation deduction and tax beneftis.

Great except...would be nice when typing in repetative things like a second or third tax reciept from the same charity, that the program recognize the first few key strokes of the name. Same applies when puting in reciepts for medical expenses.

Very good program
The program is easy to use. I found the feature of switching between forms and easy step very helpful. The summary feature provides an easy tool to help determine who should claim what to the best benefit when doing a couples return.

TURBOTAX
It works well. I sometimes find going to the forms easier than the easy step. It would be even more avantageous if there were more than the 20 limit of returns compared to the price of the software.

The area for medical receipts could be improved. The date block should be expanded to cover twelve months .This would save a lot of time when making entries for things such as drugs,acupuncture,therapy etc. YTD entries make for a lot less typing.

Turbo taxalishish
This was the most easy programn to date we had both our taxes done in less then a hour and that included my bussiness side as well. Of course a little organization goes a long way!

1 Disappointment
I have used this product for 15 years. Last year and this year I have the same complaint. I have self employment income and I complete my return and my spouse's at the same time. She is not an employee of myself or any other company. However, Turbo Tax insists on indicating "Yes" in the box on page 1 that she has self employment income.
And I can't change it.
Fix this.

Other tax software link their forms so data is transferred. TurboTax does not import to QC forms, requiring double entry of info.

Not what it use to be
Program seems to be less efficient each year.
More check boxes that don't work and paper
waste when printing.

Fonts too small

Printing was awful
Every time I tried to print spouse 1's return it would print spouse 2. It took restarting the program 3 times before it would print spouse 1 when I selected them.

Some frustrations...
Not as good as previous years. Confusing/unclear instructions for reporting GST/HST using 'Quick Method'. Couldn't submit completed tax forms when finished as update didn't function and had to manually update fed/prov tax forms several times before achieving success. Then difficulty uploading fed/prov netfile... :(

Your software stinks
I am a retired CPA so I know tax. I will say that I had a great deal of difficulty in using your farm schedules. Make it much easier to get around next year!

Software that could benefit from some enhancement
Some of the form (such as rental income where spouse own 50%) couldn't be autofill with the same expenses. As soon there is an override it's preventing the user to efile.

Badly Needs Modernization
I'm a loyal annual user of TurboTax, but I'm getting a bit frustrated with Intuit's unwillingness to improve persistent issues. Which other modern program doesn't even prompt you to save your return until AFTER it's 100% Complete? Second year in a row that I needed to restart my half complete returns because the program crashed.
Also, there are entire sections of the interview process that could easily be revamped to be easier for novices to use and understand. Its optimization tools should also really be updated to the 21st century.

Frustrating
Trying to netfile was frustrating. USA foreign business income of approximately $30.00 from box 24 on a T3 got reported as income from self-employment on line 162. Turbotax kept asking in what province is business carried on. There is no business in a province. I ended up identifying the province in which I live in order to netfile.

Make it easier
There should be a screen that allows you to split investment income and capital gains between spouses without having to enter 1/2 in each of their returns

Good for taxes, hard to print
I have used TurboTax for several years. This year, it's very hard to save returns in PDF for printing from another computer before mailing them to CRA.
Also, trying to get help on this or any other issue is very, very difficult. Customer service seems to be a thing of the past.

cumbersome efile process
it seems the efile process gets into a loop once the return is filed....there are numerous requests once the return is completed and filed.....this is a nuisance.

Most people have repeats of prescription medications. You should make the program so that you could copy the information re: names and prices. we usually use the same pharmacy. It would save a lot of time to just repeat the name and the word prescription, as well as

Best software to use

Not as simple as it is promoted
The program is not easy to follow if you do not have considerable knowledge and experience doing tax returns. I would not recommend it to anyone that does not have experience in doing tax returns. It lacks Help information on anything that is not on a simple form. I was unable to find any information on how to record Qualifying Retroactive Lump-Sum Payment. There was no information as to whether Netfiling would be available with the application.

Needs Overhaul
This would be a great program, except that the program does not have a fixed 2 decimal placement in the necessary boxes. For example if I type in 1244, it comes up as 1,244.00 and not 12.44. Makes a huge difference with respect to obtaining a refund versus owing money.
Also, you cannot copy and paste into text boxes. For example when you have multiple receipts for prescriptions, paid to one source. It makes it very time consuming to have to keep typing the same pharmacy (as an example) over and over.

There are so many screens that are of no use the the average user. The ease of use between this year and last has dropped significantly.
There doesn't seem to be any way to print the Netfile conformation. I have to use Snagit to get a copy to print.
