worst version
Turbotax 2013 is not an improvement on previous versions. I read and printed help files on how to save a .tax file and print from another computer, yet the program does not work as described. You can not save a .tax file. The new automatic netfile function does not allow you to print the confirmation page thus you are left wondering if the return was actually filed.

intuit issues
there is still a problem reprinting the return if it was processed on another computer. If you file it on one computer and then want to reprint it later on another computer, the return does not save any code indicating that you already used a return and so it makes you use another return counter up. After so many years of this issue, Intuit should have corrected it by now.

Turbo Tax was really confusing to start seeing as their are multiple choices for the same forms, but once you found what you were looking for the rest was pretty straight forward.

Limitations of 20 Return version
Had I known in advance that I could not use Netfile for filers other than myself and my wife, I would not have bought this version of the product. However, it is a good product but like all products has it's limitations ... eg didnt ask me whether I owned any non-registered investments (capital gains/losses)

The orignal Quick Tax format was more intuitive and easier to navigate. It asks all the right questions in detail. Turbo Tax is to vague (generalizd).

Form T1198 doesn't work
In the profile questions there is a place to check off lump sum retroactive payment form T1198. and yet the program doesn't bring up the form. When I searched for the form I was able to bring it up, however it wouldn't let me fill in 2024 for year of payment, you can onlyl fill in 0-2023. If the form is not usable, than why is it offered in the profile? Turbo Tax should have reviewed this before releasing this year

ANNOYING ISSUES
This is a good program but there are annoying items that programmers have not been smart enough to figure out.
1) if the return is for a single person who has said they have incurred medical expenses, the odds are the expenses are for them. STOP asking for the name of the patient for each expense and offer an exception box instead.
2) Once a user has said they do not want an audit defense or pro review, STOP insulting them by presenting the option over and over as we proceed with the return.
3) Make navigation easier for a lay person not something that only experienced users can do easily.
4) I have provided this same feedback for several years but it has been ignored by you so I cannot be considered a good client.

If it would work it would be great
Every year for the past 5 years, I have attempted to file my parents taxes and the easy step method will not populate them both having a T5007. And this year it would not calculate the 10% top up for the AB climate incentive.

Disappointed
I have used Turbo tax for many many years.
The program was not as good as previous years. The most frustrating was not being able to speech to a person when there where an issue with the program. Such as not being able to print a return and the program freezing. Not sure if I will use it next year.

Ignorant Management
Year after year I've filled out this section to provide you with ways to improve the product, but you seem to ignore the advice.
1) HAVE THE PROGRAM USE AN AUTOMATIC 2 DECIMAL POINT ON ANY AND ALL ENTRIES. CURRENTLY WHEN ENTERING NUMBERS THE PERSON INPUTING HAS TO PUT THE DECIMAL IN, WHICH CAUSES ERRORS!!!
2) PENSION SPLITTING SHOULD BE PICKED UP AUTOMATICALLY OR AT LEASE A POP UP WINDOW TO ASK IF THE TAXPAYER WISHES TO USE THIS OPTION!!

Very concerning
We had previously used QuickTax then TurboTax for many years and had been very satisfied. Because of some complexities in our tax situation we have used an accountant for the last three years. Our accountant is ill this year and as our tax situation had simplified, we decided to return to TurboTax. However, this time around we found the RRSP section very confusing, my unused RRSP/PRPP contributions were recorded in the wrong place, we had difficulty in making corrections, and there didn't seem to be any way to bring forward previous year's losses.
After the fact we purchased a competitor's program and although it wasn't as user friendly, it picked up on a number of deductions that TurboTax had completely missed. At this point we're not sure if our tax returns are correct as submitted.
Re value: Because our purchase was rushed we ended up purchasing a program (20 Returns) that was more than we needed (the program we previously used, Home & Business, was unavailable and I prefer to have the disk over the downloaded program). The competitior's program cost just over 25% of the Home & Business Program and covered the same tax elements.

Says can install 8 times. Problem is that every install fails and need to reinstall. I installed on 4 machines and reached limit because of reinstalls. Since I have myself and 4 kids was one install short. I thought support would help but to no avail. Works well but lack of customer support is a killer to me.

complicated error resolutions
There was a problem with updating that took too much time and aggravation to resolve and it also corrupted a file that was saved and then subsequently completed.
The update error by intuit should have been addressed immediately and it is very disappointing after so many years of using this company that you can't even call a help line but are directed to a page with similar complaints that you are experiencing and left to trial and error with the suggestion(responses) to those many many complaints...very time consuming and frustrating program to use.

So So
I have used several types of T1 software and have prepared hundreds of returns over the years. TurboTax is probably a better product for someone who has limited knowledge. For an experienced user, it is awkward to move from form to form and there are too many promo type questions/reviews at the completion of a return. I have used TurboTax for a few years now since I reduced the number of returns that I prepare annually. However, I will seriously need to consider if I will use TurboTax next year.

Worst version in over 15 years
I have used TurboTax (QuickTax) for over 15 years now (still have my 1998 QuickTax disks) and this year's software is the least stable I have ever seen.
The system crashed on me at least a dozen times and even lost all my input more than once. If this is what Intuit considers the new normal, I will be shopping for a new software package from now on.
I could have finished doing my taxes by hand more than once in the time it has taken me to use this year's system.

Disappointed!!
I am very disappointed in this years Turbo Tax product. It seems they made unnecessary changes ( such as "this is where you are") that are more of a nuisance than anything. I do not see that the price to purchase should be increased so drastically. Another product with less returns over $25,000.00, but the ability to purchase several more would be much more useful to the average person. I help out seniors and family by doing their taxes, so am finding it hits my pocketbook quite hard.

Changes not an improvement.
The new program is much more confusing and some additions such as the diagrams as to where you are at are very annoying. I did a return for a non citizen with only Pension income and it insisted there was Business, Professional, Rental or Other Income. Not the case, but I sure had trouble getting past that point. With a birthdate of 1919, it's not likely she would have that type of income. You made changes, which I do not believe improved the program, changed the name and greatly increased the price. 3 times what I paid last year. NOT WORTH IT!!

Needs work
T1 page doesn't allow you to enter address, language, etc. You need to enter it all during the review portion. You can't enter the province during the T4 etc status area when filling in, needs to be during review. Once you enter the T1 address etc during review, it still doesn't show up on t1, So no idea if saved, but Netfile sends it anyway.
The T4 and T5's etc are not up to date with current forms being produced to employees. You have to go back and forth between boxes to make sure you didn't miss one.
