cost effect
I needed to file my income taxes as I was way past the deadline due to illness. I really didn't pay a lot for the software so I really liked that. I was able to get my taxes done from home in a bit of time. My returns weren't complicated so it was good choice for this year.

Incredibly User friendly
I LOVE LOVE LOVE TURBOTAX
I've been using for about 7 years, it gets incredibly easier and easier every year, especially with the netfiling. I used to be late and paid all kinds of penalties because I didn't have a printer etc... I This year I had my son do his own taxes, first time and it was a breeze. I love how it helps you calculate whether you want or need to buy RRSP'S. The warnings are wonderful to make sure you don't miss any tax saving opportunities. It's so user friendly and very accurate and inexpensive too, what more can you ask for?!

Turbo Tax Basic still does it
Oops...I meant to buy the Turbo Tax Standard and I purchased the wrong one by mistake and took home the basic version. I didn't even notice until I loaded the software. In the end, the basic did everything I needed it to do.

Basic means BASIC
I wouldn't recommend this for students paying off their loans or anyone not familiar with maximizing RRSP contributions. During the interview TurboTax referred me to STANDARD for that so I'm not sure how well I did with this tax review but since I don't have school-related stuff I think I'll be okay (not sure about my sister who I think is struggling to pay back OSAP and works inconsistently.)
Otherwise TurboTax Basic is fine if there are no complications in your financial situations. (I however will be going back to using Standard for next year so I won't have to worry about how well would the software cover each of my family's tax situations.
