Last year Turbo Tax was easier
I found Adobe PDF kept popping up and was quite annoying...Wanted me to buy the new
one. Not interested, starting to think Turbo Tax owns Adobe PDF or vice versa.

I ENJOYED THIS SOFTWARE I HAVE USED IT FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS AND FIND IT BETTER THAN AN ACCOUNTANT.

DIVIDENDS AND CHARTS
When you enter your dividends, taxable dividends, and dividend tax credits it adds them up for no reason when they should all be on a separate line so you can see the totals of each. Also, what happened to the charts showing total income and tax owing at the left as you entered everything?

Needs Minor Improvements
In the section on setting up a CRA Account it forces you to choose new setup or go paperless there should be an option to say that you already have an account with CRA.

Taxes 2018
For some reason I found it hard to navigate the forms when I wanted to return to check something and the help box was no help to me - was I missing something? Two big frustrations, claiming the age deduction, and, for some reason, I got all the stuff on income splitting and there is no income splitting here! Couldn't find the pages to see what my mistakes were and I did check 'single' in the personnal sheet, and, somewhere, a box that said income splitting didn't apply to me. But still all those pages printed. I am filing with hopes for the best.

Could be better
Turbo tax does a lot for you in the background but I wish it would add to its software the credits and deductions list something along the lines of a description of what each one is and then a little disclaimer saying "based on our calculations you do not qualify for the... credit or deduction." I found myself clicking through a lot of pre populated forms only to find they didn't apply but i didn't know so I checked. Otherwise great software, simple to use. Fast filing which was great!

Medical Receipts
Medical receipts combined same as in: gave total Year 2018 RX from Drug Store print out, as wasn't going to list every RX one line at a time less Blue Cross paid as it would be too long to do and long long list!. Did same with Dentist receipts and Physio / Massages receipts entered total for the Year.

forms text too small
it is extremely difficult to read the forms once they open up in the window. An example would be the in the Ontario Benefits Form.
There is no way to increase the text size in the form.
Please increase the text size or allow us to somehow to increase the text size.

Everything was great except for entering TOSI and Investment Type information - they showed up only as a Warning/Error after I was done with initial EasyStep Interview. And with TOSI I wasn't at all sure if I had entered it properly. Had to do own research for investment type - couldn't find it in Help. Help was also not at all clear for TOSI.

Watch that payment
The program is great and gets better every year. But watch the on-line purchase. Paid (have record on Visa statement) and didn't get confirmation for download etc. And no help when trying to call telephone numbers. Bounced from California to somewhere back east in Canada, put on hold, disconnected, reconnected to California. Eventually just paid again. Only so much time you can waste.

TurboTax Basic lacking
TurboTax is useful but is lacking in information that should be available to help complex the forms. I had to go onto the Revenue Canada website to find that additional information. As well, it refused to let me netfile despite the fact that I addressed all the "warnings" it raised.

Quick and Easy Tax Return

I had problems in the section rregarding the sale of my home in 2018. Form 2091 and its integration where not clear. Because of this I could not 'e file'and had to mail my return.

TurboTax works well
I did my taxes on paper for many years and am perfectly comfortable doing so, but Turbo Tax is much more convenient, has eFile built in, and produces tidy hard copies of our returns for our files. BTW, I have used the Standard Edition for the past few years, but tried the Basic Edition this year since our taxes are pretty simple. It worked fine for us! My only complaint is that it could be less expensive; Intuit must sell millions of copies.

comparision
