NETFILE Fail
NETFILE failed upon final step of transmitting file to CRA. Error message gave zero details and there was nothing in the return that should have prevented NETFILE (based on review of Restrictions list per CRA website). No way to know if this problem was caused by something in TurboTax or CRA's system - but extremely frustrating that no indication given as to WHAT is causing the problem, so impossible to troubleshoot where nothing obvious is wrong with entries in return - leaving no choice but to switch to paper filing last-minute.

review for simple returns.
For simple returns most free software downloads data from cra. all you need to do is add in infor such as medical, donations, etc and you are done and can netfile.
Turbo is good for more complex situation such as security sales, and when you have dependents with a disability tax credit you can claim. I do like the turbo review feature. and the way it has saved all my tax filings for 10 years.

not user friendly software
I have been using intuit software for many years and didnt have any issues. Since it changed to turbo tax it became not user friendly. I dont want to pay extra money to have someone to evaluate my tax returns. I just need it to show all credits i am eligible for provincially and federally. I had to spend hours on the phone with the CRA rep to find out why i am not eligible for ontario trillium benefits and seniors home property tax. It was not clear in the system where i had to click to be eligible for these credits. It should be done by default if i meet eligibility criteria ( ie age and income)

Not Exactly Clear Cut Instructions
OK product that helps to streamline tax return. I chose to have my T slips auto-loaded from CRA and found that, although the individual forms for T slips seemed to be properly filled, the TurboTax summary was missing a couple of pension amounts. Very confusing so I went back and entered them manually.

Please make it easier to remove forms that don't apply. I could not close forms for several things I did not qualify for or didn't apply to me (age amount, disposal of primary residence, etc). I don't know how these forms were opened in the first place and clearing the forms then closing unused forms didn't work. I like to keep a hard copy of my return as a backup and it's very frustrating to be asked to print 38 pages only half of which apply to me.

Lacking on the Disability Credit
So you need to include the T2201 Form in the tax return in the basic filing system. This means it is more accessible for those who cannot afford the more expensive software.

Basic NOT FREE as advertised
Used basic to do my mothers tax she is 92 and a pensioner with a small RIF income plus the Canada CP and OAS. The RIF had investment interest of $0.34 and that triggered a PAY $19.99 to continued message!! WOW

Needs Autosave and Crash Prevention
For ease of taxes, it meets our needs. However, there is no time autosave (even after an initial save is created) to support the user if the program crashes. This is especially true every time TurboTax required to navigate to MyCRA in order to update or pull information. This caused significant time loss in work that had to be redone multiple times due to the same error.

M'eh
the system is so close to being perfect. it pulls all the information perfectly, but uploading to CRA is a mess. there is too many extra steps to make it happen.
It works, just not the smoothest after having to pay for the software year after year.

Autofill you hope it will
Make sure you double check the results of Autofill. When ours downloaded my T4, it left out a digit in the amount of income tax deducted, resulting in a whopping preliminary tax owing amount. I found the missing digit and corrected the error manually. TurboTax quickly revised the amount owing to 1/10th of the incorrect figure. Who says you can't save on taxes?

Basic program so so
Took forever this year. Font on documents much too small. Suggest add option to increase where line items input needed.
Mine was simple return for retiree and wife but needed go back to fix warnings and had to hunt for rsp contributions input. Not feeling totally secure and hope all is well.

Good but can do better
Overall, very good, except for the following: Using the Easy Step method, I tried to insert a dollar amount for line 31350 (digital news subscription tax credit), but it wouldn't let me do this. I followed the instructions "to edit" the field, but that didn't work either. So I did a new brand new return manually updating each tax form (i.e. not using Easy Step), and this DID allow me to insert an amount of line 31350. But having to do this manually was very, very time consuming and frustrating.

Needs improvement
At the end of the program, I got confused with the Netfile process. Apparently, I didn't Netfile when I completed my Turbo Tax. I now realize what I did wrong and re-filed on JULY 2nd. So, the Netfile part of the program needs to be cleaned up. My refund is 3 months late, because of the way NET file is set up. Not happy!

A little short
A T1135 Netfile confirmation # is not a TAX filing # and the CRA Tax Agent I talked to for or half an hour was NO HELP. There was ANOTHER 'Continue" button someplace after the page that said GREAT NEWS your T1135 was accepted by the CRA and at the bottom it said DONE. BUT it was NOT DONE. Still had to FILE the Federal tax return.

Cannot netfile
I followed all the steps that prompted me to do. I did all the steps for correction but when I tried to netfile the system will not allow me. It will only allow me to print and mail the copies to CRA.

The 2020 tax filing format has changed from previous years (5 stars) and was not as smooth or user friendly to read/navigate. We had to jump around and open different subject headings just to find where to report rent expense, income reporting was completely skipped.

shrug shoulders
having used there better then basic products for many years .i find the basic to be harder to use then the higher priced product line . the windows do not open and tell you all the information you need to install your tax information correctly (had to go over and do it several times to make sure i put the correct info in the correct spot)i would recommend the better then basic .will not buy this again

i have been trying to get my application to send for a couple days..
i have told all my friends to give a little try, and i would be right outside....
but going though this for a few days is just not right. i hope noone asks this year ill tell them it was CRAP & have nothing good to say
