Okay, But Nothing Special
NETFILE experience wasn't as seamless as it could have been but otherwise was okay. It is disappointing that their UI still looks old and outdated.

Basic Format
If you have anything out of the ordinary this is not the program to use.
Move up to the Standard.
Because of questions on the basic form I ended up buying a consultants time.
Used the standard program before with no problems.

NETFILE
The whole point of getting turbo tax is to send my tax return via the internet and it is not allowing me to do this. What gives?

my thoughts
My laptop (only six months old) showed a script error box every time I tried to proceed to the next page.
Also for privacy, I loaded the program onto my own laptop rather than use a family member's....but then required a last minute scramble to get the CD back to print out the government copy for filing. Very annoying.

printing and netfile
I do the taxes for my wife and I combined. We are simple and poor so our taxes are easy, but when it came to netfile I found the set up confusing. I was confused if netfile submitted for both - the turbo tax indicated both our names. Sure scrolling down showed my wifes return needed to be submitted but if I hadn't scrolled. A note indicating both person need to submit even if done together.
Also I have to pay and my wife gets a refund. Do I really have to pay or is it calculated to the amount turbo tax shows and the CRA just sends that?? I am assuming I have to pay and then my wife gets the full refund amount - but an explanation of that would be great.

Good for the price. Auto feature didn't work for me. Missed a few basic items that were pick up on alerts. Didn't appreciate the up-selling when trying to e-file.

No ENOA
The application worked great and fully met our tax needs. However, it would often crash after connecting to CRA MyAccount (both for auto-fill and when trying to sign up for ENOA). Unfortunately, this meant that we were unable to sign up for ENOA. Our browser is Google Chrome.

Okay, but....
Since I'm filing previous years, they do not offer live tax advice. I figure that since the program isn't discounted (I'm paying the same price) then I should be offered the same services.
I was a little disappointed by this...
Otherwise, it was fairly easy to use, but I also have a super simple tax return.

you keep changing and making it harder to print
you had a good product at one time but you keep changing it it is harder to print and to send by mail.I don't care that the government wants to go paperless . I like to keep a copy and mail my return .

Mixed review
I used TurboTax from the Revenue Website and they never received the forms. I found out 3 months later - and then had to purchase the soft wear.
This was a first for me I was really surprised that this has happened.
Not sure if I would recommend - will decide when I do taxes again.

Does the job
It does the job but note that if you have any prescription expenses you want to claim or even a simple house you rent out the Basic version is not geared for you. It will do the job but doesn't provide advice etc. You should consider the Premium version for best results and an accurate return with maximum deductions. Turbotax is also quite slow even on a fast computer (i7 processor, 16GB Ram, SSD drive, etc).

scripot error
All through the program, a script error notice kept popping up needing me to close the error box 3 times for every entry. I was however to complete the filing.

Gets the Job Done
While it constantly asks you to upgrade to the deluxe package, and isn't always perfectly clear what to fill in where, turbotax basic is a fairly simple way to file your taxes online when you dont have a huge amount of complicated tax information to input. Splitting 15 bucks across 4 returns is a pretty great deal, even compared to other apps and services available right now.

just ok
It just met my needs. I found it clunky at the end. It kept asking me the same question (i.e. save the file?) and all I wanted to do was to get on with the next return to file. It seems as though they have reduced the functionality of Basic to get one to purchase more expensive versions.

Not as good as before
Downloading info from government is great however, accessing government forms or information is non existent. You have to access it on your own. Finding specific forms during inputting is rather tedious and confusing. Net filing is great.

Wasn't that cool or easy - Basic
It missed my email address, I could not find where to place my safety-deposit box fee amount in and finally trying to do my medical expenses, it would not let me put in the proper date. Very frustrating for a senior citizen and I think this might be my last year of doing taxes like this.

Not bad, some annoying things
I couldn't add my Manitoba education property tax credit advance as the number was green. When I double clicked, it would not take me anywhere. I had to override the zero number because it listed an error when I had zero for the credit, which should have been $700.
When I did that, it wouldn't let me netfile my return.
To print to mail, it wouldn't give me the correct version and all versions I printed had duplicate, do not send by mail.
Annoying!

Product Changed
I purchased the basic instead of the Standard by mistake this year, I used the option of uploading from CRA and it didn't catch it all, I found last years program much more user friendly than this one. I went in to make corrections it told me the disc was corrupt and to uninstall which I did then I reinstalled and started over not using the CRA upload.
