To basic to make savings worthwhile
Although it is half the price of the Standard edition, the savings is not worth it as the Basic program is very basic and was more work. The big negative is that it does not transfer the prior years taxes and that I feel is wrong, that feature should be on every level.

first time users
my daughter is 16 and a first time user. I tried 3 times for her tax to be file through internet and it never worked. Really mad right now that it's doesn't seems easy for teenagers.

Not really the best purchase ever
I would rather buy the Turbotax Standard because turbotax Basic limits on what you can claim. I had medical expenses to claim but it said to up grade to the standard one. I only had enough money to buy the basic.

Better Than Paying A Service
Turbotax is a good alternative to paying a preparation service. It is relative easy to use. However, the Basic and Standard should be combined into a single application. The product packaging is not absolutely accurate. After inputing my information it was insisted that I upgrade or simply "ignore" warnings. How do I know if it's a good thing to ignore a potential problem with CRA? Then, when it came to filing, the application couldn't do it automatically like advertised. Instead, instructions were provided for me to do it manually. It supposedly worked. Only time will tell.

Not quite as I expected
I prefer the interview style of previous incarnations of TurboTax . This one not what I expected. That being said, it wasn't horrible. Mostly automated.

Netfile
In previous years you would submit via Netfile and get a confirm immediately. This year it appears that has changed. How does one know if it has been successfully sent or not. There is no indication whatsoever.

Difficult to negotiate
I was not able to include the cost of my safety deposit box in Carrying charges. I tried the Help option and the only applicable thing that came up was Did you forget to include your cost of safety deposit box for the past three years. I gave up and removed it from my return. After six years of using Turbo Tax, I may shop around next year.

This is somewhat difficult to follow if you don't have either computer expertise or income tax filing expertise. I don't know if my return has gone to the Canadian government and don't know how to find out.

Not as good as it used to be
Turbo Tax is less user-friendly, less foolproof, and more expensive than good old QuickTax. Even the poorest taxpayers in Quebec now have to pay. It used to be free.

Troublesome This Year
This year, the EasyStep software did not seem to work as well as in the past. For example, instead of asking if I paid property tax and taking me to a spot to enter the amount, I had to search for where to enter home information and property tax paid. (Or else I messed up using the software - but I don't think so.)

While I did find this tax preparation form to be very adequate for my tax preparation needs I did find it difficult to read the text at times. Black on white is easier to see than blue on white. Making the print blacker and bigger would be very helpful.
