Good for beginners!
Having to upgrade to the "standard" version to get more detailed information about RRSP was the only downfall. Other than that, extremely easy to use!

Lacks one feature
I would have liked to be able to carry forward information from my previous year's return with the basic version. I thought that would be a basic advantage of sticking with the same software this year. I did not discover this until after I had downloaded and installed the software, and I could not be bothered to go through the whole process again and pay more money for it too.

fair enough
Overall not bad but there are some areas which were aggravating. The moving expense section includes a "method of travel" line. The amount that may be claimed varies from province to province and so it would make sense that an intelligent program would be able to claculate that based on postal codes. The method of travel line is misleading as it possibly should indicate an actual code for diffeerent modes of travel( car, truck, rail etc..)

Doable...
I am a senior and don't have great computer skills; however, I was able to do my tax filing, using Turbo Tax, all on my own. This was my second year filing with Turbo Tax. I did have more confidence doing on-line filing this year. I went with Turbo Tax do to having familiarity with this product. Overall, I am satisfied, and most likely will use Turbo Tax next year.

Medical Expenses not Easy in Basic Version
You need to make the medical expense claim easier to complete and it should automatically go to the lowest income earner so that peoplle get the highest return.

Not 'new and improved'
Have used Turbo tax for 5 years. This years version is not even close to user friendly in comparison to previous years. Navigation is difficult, initial interview misses key questions. Be prepared to be inundated with pop ups asking you to upgrade to a better more expensive version. Will not be purchasing Turbo Tax next year.

2013 tax return
The process was very intuitive but the file processing became very frustrating and cumbersome.
Not until an update was retrieved, did I finally get the filing completed.
This took about 2 hours.
I think the software should automatically update when installed to avoid frustration to user.

when we do the forms on line, there should be a check mark on all what we did, as in
name

date of birth
banking information
Tax return checks
did you add your name as a tax preparer
let us know when clients has to sign?
Instead of going back to the form with out knowing what I did wrong?
and have you are done, "ready to netfile" & "ready to print, and "you have successfully done netfile."

It would be good to have a bilingual version of the software where we can choose our preferred language, even though I am good in English I did have some problem filing my taxes.

Ontario Rent/Property Tax
This year the program didn't indicate where to enter your rent/property tax paid. Also on the Ontario forms it wasn't clear you needed to check a box for the rent/property tax amount to be transferred into the form.

Poor for Seniors
The print size is difficult to read because it is too small. Also the income splitting option never showed up and I had to go hunting for the correct form which was extremely time consuming and frustrating. I could have filled out the hand form quicker.

Is it my Eyes?
I have a state of the art monitor, nice a wide. Why does your programme insist on using but half of that width and then to add insult to injury, use the smallest font known to mankind. Give my aging eyes a break. Certainly the technology exists to accommadate an old man's eyes.

was not easy
I had a very simple return, yet wasted most of my time trying to figure out where and how to enter the municipal taxes paid on my principal residence. The help files were not helpful at all. They told me not to over ride, and why not to over ride, but not how to over ride. And nowhere did it explain where the info was to be input, just "elsewhere". So I can only assume that if my return was complex, this would have been a nightmare. As it was, I wasted 45 minutes trying to figure things out for myself. And the Live Community feature really spoke poorly for the product... that the best help they could offer was from other hapless users trying to figure it out... Lots of questions, but no answers. Like they expect members of the public to provide the useful help, instead of putting the help into the software.

A bit difficult to navigate
I finally got both mine and my husbands taxes completed, but I found the program a bit confusing. When I clicked to open up answer to my queston, once I clicked to close, I was taken to a completely different page than the one I was on. I think it could have been a bit easier to navigate.

Beware: Attention to Detail Required for ON-Ben
I have been a Turbo Tax (and former QuickTax) user for many years. I purchased the "Basic" version this year and found the software lacking for ease of use when it came time to inputting provincial tax credit information. This was not part of the "Easy Step" process, and to the uninitiated, one could miss a significant tax credit entitlement. I was completing the tax return for my elderly mother-in-law, and found it difficult to enter the rent paid in the On-Ben form. After about an hour of clicking around and reading and re-reading, I realized, fortuitously, that the box on line 6118 needed to be checked in order for the form to "accept" the address and rent amount. Figuring this out made a $214 positive difference in the amount of the Trillium credit to which she was entitled.

A few challenges
In general Turbo Tax is a good product, but there are a few things that could be improved. The major item is the text size - ridiculously small. I had to use a ruler to follow some of the lines across the page, to make sure I was filling in the correct blanks. The font is much too small, and the colour of the text should be black. If this means more screens with less text, so be it. Then you would have an excellent product. Otherwise, I'll be looking for alternatives next year.

Turbo Tax 2012
I found it this years software for basic return that Turbo Tax took out the formerly available transfer of personal information from one year to the next.....out...and then said you could get this feature back by spending more money on an upgrade. I found this to be a shabby practice just to get more money out of your pocket...so indeed they tried to make it more inconvenient for you once again just to feed the bottom line. Also, the same questions were asked multiple times in what appeared to be a purposeful method to confuse a novice user. Shame.
It would appear that proper behavior is not at the top of this company's list.

Will not be my first choice next time
I found Turbo Tax to contain too much advertising and attempts to upsell to a more expensive product. I have used other tax preparation software in the past and have had less advertising. The advertising is especially annoying when you are trying to concentrate on getting your taxes done and the advertising comes up repeatedly.
Other than that Turbo Tax was as easy to use as any other program used previously.

After using turbo tax 10 years I was very disappointed in this year's version. I could not Netfile because I could not clear an error on the CPP page that asks me to elect a date and if I have filled in the form for people who are between the ages of 65 and 70
This has nothing to do with me. I am 73 years old. So I'm printing my form and mailing it in.
Not very happy about this !!!!!!!!!!!!
