had questions not resolved by help line or teleph
I have used this turbo tax program for several years, but this year I had problemssending the files thru netfile.
program has been changed and not for the better.
I resorted to your help line and spoke to one of your experts. he couldnt solve the prolem either.
I may have a deffective disc. your feedback will be interesting. .

Not fully tested
Looks like the software was done in rush and not tested.
1. Confusing spousal return and wrong help directions
2. Can't print what I want and forces all trash(one sided!)
3. Spousal - insists on pay method but subtracts other??
4. Disk does not starts at all any way (Windows 10).
5. Dependants - totally confusing.
6. T slips auto load did not work.
7. Ambiguous terminology with double negation.
Please, do the testing with NON-PROFESSIONALS.

Terrible
I will not purchase again.
Getting answers and support was very difficult. Finding a phone number that worked. Wait time 15 mins. Getting online support was worse. Options for paying balance owing did not include just paying at my bank by cheque with a teller.

The wanrnings provided were not accurate and I had to check the forms. It took as long as if I'd done it with the froms straight away. Plus, there were mistakes which I had to correct.

VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH BASIC.
Dear TurboTax people. Hmmm let's start with the positive aspect. I have been a faithful user/customer of TT for many years (5 to be exact) & had always bought the Standard version. It served us well & I always recommended to my friends to use this easy "off the shelf " product. Then my needs changed as the kids left the house we no longer needed to prepare so many returns so this year (Tax Yr 2016) I decided to get the basic model. Now for the NOT so good aspect of this particular product. Simple things like auto-fill details from last year's return was not offered (really...1st strike) then I had to chase the income splitting screens( 2nd strike...aaarrrgghhh) & then to top it off it kept telling me that I was not on-line...(3 Rd strike...you are out...) I am not sure (for the 1st time in years) if our returns were as accurate as per years gone by...and that TurboTax made me very UNHAPPY...
So, if this was a ploy to get me to buy the standard edition for next year's return you have failed miserably. Come on people, you have a great product (standard version & above) why are you cutting corners with a sub-par product that made me ( a loyal customer for many years) doubt my future deals with your product...for what...a few $$$...
My recommendation to you smart tax people is to get rid of this inferior product which frustrated me to no end. Basic form filling, easy navigation & filing made you guys the best in the industry & now you really struck out with this error in marketing. ok ok enough whining, I will be back next year as I believe that even a good bunch of Tax guys like you can make a boo-boo once in a while but PLEASE...no more basic product that belittles all the good work you have accomplished so far. Ok...
Promise...you 'll read this & give it a second read...
if you do this for me & many others I am sure...we will be back...Now let's go for coffee & I'll buy...

-I have used Turbo tax for the last 4 years. Each year things improve except this year.
-There has been no change in my computer technology from last year, yet I had soooo many difficulties this year. Even the tax printed copy for me is not acceptable (15 pages!!!). "Helpful hints"to help fill in the form this year was not available via computer.
-I am not sure what Turbo Tax did, but I will probably not use it next year.
-Even the survey below is not well thought out (I have 1 kid - not kids).

I didn"t feel confident that between my spouse and I, the one claiming an expense was the best choice. This was also true with income splitting as far as percentages were concerned. The "optimize" feature in prior years illustrated this more clearly.

Not intuitive
Turbo tax is not very user friendly and always wants you to upgrade their product. When you do give in to the persistent spamming it wants you to give your credit card info instead of using a trusted paying service that you are used to such as Paypay etc. I THINK THIS IS THE LAST YEAR FOR ME USING THIS PROGRAM.

I found this year`s version to be the most confusing of any years` previous but fortunately my return is quite simple so it is done.
At one point the program indicated that I would get to `My Account` but did not actually take me there.

Unable to netfile
Every year is the same issue. Filing is easy until it's time to submit through netfile.
I'm now done but cannot submit. Wish it was more user friendly at the end.

Horrible Experiance
I found this software to be extremely hard to navigate. It was less then helpful and I ended up googling a lot of "how to.." I will not use this ever again.

Not recommended.
I have used Turbo Tax in the past and it was very simple. Questions and instructions were clear and easy to follow. This year was rather confusing, asked questions out of the usual context and made me feel that Iwas continually missing information. I will use a different tax software next year.

Turbotax Basic 2014 - ok
The various versions referred only to incomes over $25K. This was confusing since incomes UNDER $25K were excluded. I needed to do 3 Returns so I bought The Basic which was good for 4 Returns. Big problems getting the UPDATE to work. Most likely the Updates were not ready in February.. Saved the Returns and hoped to NETFILE later. Calling got me no response and about 2 hours wasted holding on forever in Feb-Mar 2015. I finally got a service rep to CHAT in MARCH 22, 2015 ...after having to wait in line over 3 hours! Service Rep (Francine) was very helpful!
The good news is that I was able to complete and submit 3 Returns within 45 minutes of having my problems fixed. TURBOTAX should not put a product on the shelves early if the program is incomplete.

TurboTax Basic less than basic
If you like reading CRA material & filling out CRA forms on a computer, TurboTax Basic is your answer. It will do the math for you but not much more. Easy-Step is a joke...basic input only, misses many tax situations and forces you to sort them out for yourself on CRA's nearly incomprehensible forms. This software has no concept of logical data collection and application -it is nothing more than a 'put your coins in our slots' approach. Needed: 'tell us what you have and we will sort out where to put it." General to specific input cues, cascading logic, whatever, something better can be done.

Good program BUT....
Good program BUT........I paid for previous years and it doesn't state that you cannot efile your taxes if its been more than 2 years old. IF I would have know that I would have not paid for the download and paid the same amount to an accountant instead. now I have paid for a useless program, AND an accountant. NOT happy, but lesson learned.

I do not like that I cannot put in my values by double-clicking in the appropriate field ie rent payments. The program does not allow you to double-click like it says you can. Sometimes it is hard to find the appropriate form and also this year with the program, it shut down several times which is inconvenient and very annoying. This is by far the worst year that I have used this program that it gave me problems. I may look for a different product next year.
