Basic is too basic
Even the Basic version should be able to carry forward your name and SIN # from your previous years return. Not much incentive to stay with the same package. Every time we access the internet, WIndows Explorer Opens - even though I have another browser already open. Can't we use the default browser! After 20 years, it is time to switch to a better product for next year.

Previous versions of the program were much easier to understand and use. Saving and opening returns was a bit of a pain.

Turbo Tax Basic - not best ever!
Previously I used the Intuit product. It was straight forward, easy to navigate and had helpful charts to visually display "what if" scenarios. I did not find this with Turbo Tax.
I found the advertising 'pop-ups' annoying to say the least. Once at the beginning would be enough; they literally popped-up on every 2nd screen. Use another form of advertising.
I look forward to a 'revised & improved' product for 2012, or I will shop elsewhere.

Basic doesn't transfer last years return
I bought TurboTax last year, why am I being punished for buying it again this year?
This is a very basic reason why people use software to do their taxes. It's suppose to automate very basic things. This was a very frustrating experience. The box doesn't point this out clearly. I read the part where it did not support importing of UFile and thought to myself, "that's fine, I'm a loyal TurboTax customer." I'm not so sure anymore.
I understand that the more expensive versions have transfer capability but this is unacceptable. You already have the code to do it, there is no excuse for blocking this simple step that makes a huge difference in user experience.
Frankly I feel insulted by this years experience.

Go with the Standard version
I wasn't paying attention and accidently purchased the Basic instead of the Standard version this year. I have been using TurboTax or QuickTax for over 10 years.
I really like the Standard version.
The Basic version is much less easy to use, and does not help with some rather basic items. If I had not been doing my own taxes for close to 20 years it would have been difficult to file my taxes with the Basic version.
Intuit did offer a simple upgrade to Standard, which I feel shows that they do have the customer's needs in mind.
I feel that the Standard version is better value.

Absolutely shameful!
Shameful, forcing customers to use your online platform and making it wholly a pain in the butt to simply, buy, download and get started. Your webistes ---- thousands of them are a dog's breakfast and move circular. Its shameful. 20 years on this product and I am disguisted with TT.

complicate for simple student and simple couple
This year interface change to so bad.
1) easy mode guide switch to form mode make date entry very very complicate.
2) when you enter an error and need Fix it's impossible. Turbotax just turn around and does not help you to find or fix the error. I have to delete and create a new return. Lucky I do simple tax return 1 student and 1 simple couple straight forward data.
NOT RECOMMENDED - and the amount of add to upgrade, pay me more, ...

Extremely disappointed
Title sums up my opinion. Having used TurboTax for more than 20 yrs, I find this years almost useless with all the changes and limitations of simple tax benefits etc... Will probably still need to have an accountant fill out this years tax files.

I trusted turbo tax to do my taxes for 2022 year. I had donation receipts for previous years....typically in canada, people can use up to 5 years of previous years, donation receipts....turbo tax did not help me to calculate how much of the donation receipts that I can use legally on my tax filing....I paid extra for the "audit protection". the online helper....unfortunately, revenue canada agency demanded that I pay $20,000.00 to them....rca, stated that my tax calculations were inaccurate....I was forced to hire H & R block to redo my taxes for 2022....it cost me an extra $400.00 on top of the monies rca demanded from me....I'm very disappointed in turbo tax

Worst Purchase Ever
Beware - Turbotax Basic is a poor product with software glitches. Had previously used Standard version for many years with no problems. Basic was marketed as providing the functionality needed but proved to be far less than advertised.

Upselling while filing
Turbo tax is extremely inflexible and non-intuitive. It won't allow you to go out of their norm to add an additional line or do corrections. When correcting errors, you can't get it fixed unless you pay for their tax consultations. Advertising boxes keep popping up while filing. I ended up sending in a printed copy instead of filing it to CRA electronically.

Don't Purchase Basic
Worst experience I have ever had in completeting my taxes ever. Bought the wrong program. Couldn't understand why I was having such a bad time filling the return out. Called 3 times to customer service and the first two I talked to new absolute nothing about the programs 4 hours wasted without results. The third person knew right away what the problem I was having, I had purchased the wrong version. Great!!. Could not upgrade to the product I needed. Incredible, ridiculous don't purchase online no customer service from this company. I have been using TurboTax from the beginning of it's inception, at least 40 years, Way to treat a loyal user of your product.

I have used Turbo tax and Quick Tax for over 20 years and this the worst I have ever seen. It has more referrals to Upgrades than help. The fonts used on Provincial forms are not compatible. But they still raised the price by 50%.

WHY is the easy forms not coming up as it should
I started with Easy Step, but it does not provide the steps you have to select each item on a list not as you go along, as well its always suggesting to upgrade, I am doning the taxes for 2 retired persons with some investment they are not even over the threshold to count and still I'm asked to upgrade, this is BULL, and the easy steps are not what you get on the Standard version, again BULL for you to always try to get me to upgrade.
