Not extremely easy to navigate through the program
I found there were times during the inputting of tax details where I needed to stop and think about where and what I was to enter in order to not make any false statements. This was especially true in the self employment area where it was not self explanatory in the least. Easier access to information questioned by the person entering the data would be great.

Great improvement since 2024
A lot of improvement has been experienced this year in comparison to last year with the TurboTax online version. Amazing to use and easy to navigate. No longer access to the form, which the disable the ability to counter check but overall very smooth to use.

disappointed with Mac version
I could not retrieve information from the CRA to autofill the form. There is no downloadable version for Mac or MacBook which makes the cost four times greater than a PC for two returns.

Works well with some issues
I have been using Turbotax for a number of years and noticed the new format for 2024. It works well except when I needed to "zero in" on a certain item. Program would not allow me to do so unless a deleted the tax slip first and then ran the review function. When the error was found, I was able to rectify it.

Like this product
Used this product as long as memory serves and will continue to use it in the future.
I found this year's version less intuitive than previous years. Also had a difficult time with a T3 form and the calculation.

Annoying Upgrade Offers
Product is fine but find it really annoying that it offers upgrades or tax expert advice over and over again. Understand that they are trying to upsell but please tone it down.

Liked the old menu on the left side
I prefer the old tree structure on the left side so you could return to a particular area of the return.
I didn't like that the Live Tax Advice is showing but not working.

Smooth sailing experience!
I have used Turbotax for three years because of the simplicity and seamless experience.
I'm self-employed and my spouse is not. One thing that could be improved is allowing my and spouse share the same file return and each of us got charged according to a package we chose. That will help me save my and my spouse's time.

Pretty easy to use
Turbo Tax will walk you through each step of the T1 form. I have paid professional accountants in the past, and I have done paper form T1s as well. Turbo Tax is cheaper than the accountant and way easier than the paper form. If you already do your own accounting but just want trustworthy tax filling and filing, try TurboTax by Intuit.

it's ok
it's a lot of work to do ours, bought a house, two extra small business incomes as well as addition income for wife, so not just your usual t4's and done, and lots of going and googling to make sure it's done right..so it could be more intuitive, and I liked how you could go back and forth inside your tax filing last year, this year sucks and isn't anywhere near as good,and I think it's kind of expensive to do it all yourself and then pay 120$ to file...if it was 60$ for us both, done together anyway, that would be fair, but it isn't...

Makes Filing Easy
Turbotax self-employed online funnels you through the filing process easily, and I like using the netfile feature.
Unfortunately, because I have one rental property (our old home) Inuit forces me to purchase the self-employed product which is quite a bit more expensive than other options. Also, Intuit went through significant design changes this year, and I find it harder to navigate as a result. I wish the old interface was available as the path was mapped out.

Revamped Edition
With the revamped new edition, it didn't seem to flow as easy as the previous versions.Some of the prompts were hidden, whereas the other versions were click and go and didn't have to look and see if I missed some thing. Other wise once I figured out the new program I was able to complete my taxes. Took a long time and a few phone calls to the help line.

Need Gig Work Options
Turbo Tax is easy to navigate & takes you through all aspects of filing your tax return. But I am still waiting for the self-employed category of gig worker. It's still not included as a category, so when you do the self-employed section, it asks you all kinds of unnecessary questions. Please fix this!

costs should be separate

Used to be premiere and now self employed
Not sure why I had to upgrade to self employed just because I rent out my basement suite. I hardly feel that qualifies me as self employed. Every year lately I struggle to determine whether to buy the version at Costco or Online version. Last several years it has been the online version.

Good, but loop issues
Many good features, especially being able to enter confusing investment slip info into the right places. But there were two error loops that were hard to fix, and I am still not to sure about one of them.

decent but need improvment
i do the tax return with my wife together. i am self -employed and she is employed. The system forces both of us to do the return on self employed forms which cost $65 per person. I hope next year they can change the system to charge whoever is self employed not everyone on the same return.

Upgrade not needed
I did not agree with having to upgrade to self-employed return due to small amount of rental income from farmland. It didn’t make the return any harder to do but increased the cost for basically the same input.
Also, I was applying for Caregiver Credit for the first time and found it difficult to determine if I qualified based on the questions asked on the return.I had to look up Revenue Canada explanations.

Easy to Resubmit
Once I submitted my taxes to CRA via Netfile I realized I had made an error and had to resubmit it. It stressed me out but I resubmitted it and the process went through smoothly. Yeah!

Great but wait for the right amount
I've been using TurboTax for more than a decade and will continue to do so probably until i retire. I love how simple and easy it is and how often I get a discount offer. The only thing I dislike is the amount the program says I owe or will receive from the government, because it's totally wrong. One year, it said I owed about 750$ and I actually got back around 250$. I made the mistake of paying right away the amount the program said I owed the first time I used TurboTax and received a notice from the government a month later indicating that I did not owe anything. Obviously I never got the money I gave for nothing back. Now I simply file my tax and wait for the government notice for the right amount.

I like the older version!
I don’t like the buttons you must click in the business income section to enable or start the various sections of the form! Just leave all boxes available and I can decide which apply to me. Also the line numbers from the CRA version of the tax form would be helpful (8830, 8321, etc.). Then when my assessment comes back I can ensure I entered my data in the correct box.

It's not immediately user-friendly due to how much can be included; I have had a lot of practice doing mine and my family's taxes with it. I still get confused. But, being able to refile is very useful, and being able to see how your deductions count is nice. I would like it if it also provided forms/the ability to include forms. I have had the CRA message me after asking for forms that I feel could have been submitted along with my return.
