This was my first time using Turbo Tax. I used another product from Intuit for years doing income taxes so I was much more comfortable using that, however, I would definitely use it again. I did find Turbo Tax was not as helpful and easy to use and that it took awhile to find my way around and that the tutorials were out dated which is very confusing when you are working with a program that you have not used before. It will just take some time to get more comfortable so I guess the program will just get easier after you work on it.

both spouses must use the same package
In our case, we have one spouse who owns a business and did not make any money this year-- but we both need to purchase the self-employed package. This doesn't seem right when we both do not need it.

Great Product - Could even be better
I have been doing my own taxes and my families since this product first became available as Quick Tax. Dating myself there.. lol. What I would like to see is the "Sef Employed Tax Prep Checklist" match the questions and categories that are in Turbo Tax as well as in the same order they asked. This would be such an improvement for us small fry business owners that do our own taxes. thx MM

Good but issue with billing every year
Every year I file and my wife is self employed and I am not. Turbo tax changes me the same self employment rate as my wife.

Last medical expense fails
Once I enter my last medical expense, I can't get out of then entering of the next expense. TurboTax's back arrow doesn't work, nor the browser's. I think this happened last year too. Finally, I entered a fake $1 expense, and instead of asking to enter next expense I selected done. Then later deleted that fake expense.

Pricing
I think the pricing is good, but unfair if you are doing your spouse's return at the same time, one self-employed and the other one not, both seniors. The non-self-employed person should be less, in my opinion, since there is much less to fill out on their part of the return.

missing federal foreign tax credits
The printout for CRA was missing the T2209 federal foreign tax credits page so I missed out on those tax credits.

mixed feelings
This is a good product but there are some items within the return that don't flow where I would want to see them
Also, this year cost me more to complete the returns because they charge you based on what your return consists of.

help
In the past did use the Standard package and there found the forms for my little business but couldn't do so with the Standard format this year.. Did an upgrade only to find that didn't work either, the Premier format. Had to re-upgrade to the Business Form. I was using the Standard form for many years and always was able to my taxes including the business portion. Has there been a change to the Standard Form?
Had a problem with filling out the section regarding vehicle Capital Cost Allowance. I entered the appropriate information, i think, but got stuck there. Reentered the information but think it wasn't correct. this was accepted and was able to proceed .with my return.

Good for Self Employed
I was self-employed and TurboTax is a way better value than the tax accountant I was using. The navigation can be a little funky but most of the time I'm just clicking "continue" or "done" so it works out okay.

Easy to use!
I recommend TurboTax to people every year, it's so simple to do your own taxes at home. This year was the first year I did them myself as someone with self-employment income to report, and I was pleasantly surprised that it was much simpler than I thought it would be. Of course, it still takes a long time but I think that might just be the reality of doing taxes.

Needs Improving
Overall Turbo Tax is very good. However, the wording, format and searching tool could improve. I would especially like the software to resemble the CRA guide and forms from the beginning. Working in the blind is extremely time consuming and frustratiing. Thank you.

Great product - could be better
Easy to use, screens work faster than prior years. Easy income splits with spouse.
The review warnings are cryptic - they should appear with data entry screens.
The input screens should assist with foreign currency conversions.
T-slip entries should be viewable in tables for easy review. Current review process is slow and error prone.
Data download from CRA flounders with joint submissions.

Good help
It is fairly straightforward and takes you through the different steps. Some steps are still unclear and require that you look up the exact meaning of things, but for an overall simple tax return, it helps you take care of it without the need for expensive professionals.

Good Program
It is a relatively easy program to follow. What I dislike, is the way in which it charges for the service which is in no way competitive. The online version is more expensive than the programs sold in-store with more returns per kit to use than online. I appreciate the fact I was able to file.

A bit more frustrating this year
I usually have an amazing experience with Turbo Tax and have found filing my taxes very easy. Unfortunately, this year was not great - I couldn't download the final PDF for my records, and nor could I return to a simple return once I realized that only my spouse would need the fancier self-employment option.

Good Program
Overall, this program is simple to use. I like how it can save my info as I am filling it out. My only issue was in filing. It did not recognize my Netfile code, so I had to print off my Return and mail it in. I will use this program again next year.

Gets the job done
It gets the job done, have had some issues where it put my son's t4 in my return, good thing i noticed. The search or find is poor at best. It is only a way to search the table of contents, can't search topics like "Schedule 11" like you would expect

Tuition Frustration
As always The tuition transfer amounts leave me wondering if I am actually getting it right. After using this product for years I keep getting the same result: there is a a Federal Transfer amount to parents, but no provincial transfer amount to parents (MB). It comes up in the warnings year after year but I never know if I have filled it in correctly because when you click on FIX the WARNING there is a federal amount and the provincial amount is always $0.00. No clue why, I have read many of the posts and it seems like this is a common problem and common question....its probably time to clean up this section of TTax....

Fairly straightforward
Easy to get your information together, and information is clearly laid out. I wish the complexity of the Quebec system was more organized. Common situations in Quebec are misinterpreted by the software and require workarounds, which is frustrating.
