Can't downgrade package
Two things about TurboTax need to be improved: 1) you can't downgrade to lower package, e.g. from self-employment to premium, if you want to transfer the info from the previous year's return; 2) the info you put it for the marital status will still be there even though you change it afterwards. I didn't realize it until I saw the copy of tax return filed. These must be corrected!

Good Basic Software

Easy and Quick!
It was pretty easy to get into TurboTax and start setting up my tax returns.This was the first time I've done my returns myself and TurboTax walked through the important parts and provided appropriate information for me to better understand what I was doing.
The estimated returns amount was a nice little heads up, and the only issue I really had with the service was the stuff related to direct deposit from the CRA, so not really TTs fault, haha.
Do recommend!

OKAY but
I am always confused when I file my tax return through Turbo Tax. Do they get my Dividend Income and Interest Income from CRA? Why do I seem to report my in-house office expenses twice. Etc.

Data from CRA did not work
We have used TurboTax for years. This year, we were told TurboTax could get data from our My Account at CRA and put in our T4s and RRSPs automatically. This did not work at all. It became really confusing to figure out how to skip it. Also, a screen that said it was putting together our profile didn't work either, and we had to figure out how to get around it.

Not bad but didn't transfer business info
Turbo tax is an efficient way of doing taxes. However, this year's software did not transfer any of my business information over from previous years which was frustrating as it all had to be input manually.

Good product
This product is easy to use and helps me to get my taxes done. At times it cycles through a few pages at least twice, and this is annoying, but with patience I get to move onto the next section.

Not bad
It could use the capacity to add catagories specific to my self-employed business. As it is I have to combine business deductions to fit into the 2 spaces available. Also I would prefer to go back to specific pages in review. Overall I have been using this for so many years that I can overlook most of its shortcomings.

Still takes work
TurboTax seemed pretty comprehensive, but it provided just enough support and direction to get through - in other words, you still run across questions for which you still need to look up answers on your own. Expect it to take a lot of time and expect to have to learn a lot your first time through. For example, the help button will often just link you to the long, dry CRA web page on the subject instead of providing you with a nice summary or explanation of only the information pertinent to your specific situation.

I like it a lot but this year wasn't as smooth..
I really like Turbo Tax, I have been using it for three years now. I find it easy to use and good value. However, this year, they had a hiccup with a certain depreciable asset code - its depreciation rate was incorrect. I had to call three times until a fix was implemented - I had to invest more time than I would have preferred in getting the issue remedied. Other than that, I find it to be great.

Could be better
I felt that there were too many questions to answer, but I suppose that is necessary.
1) I had to go through steps in order to edit a specific step. Would be easier if I can just go straight to specific step to edit or delete something without going through various steps without editing.
2) T5008 has options that is not clear whether to claim as "investment" or "capital gain." Explanatory note should have been added so that we can make proper selection of the option to claim.
3) In Self-employment section on business use of a room(s) in a house, the system calculated correctly on percentage based on the number of rooms used compared with total number of rooms in a house, but it doesn't calculate based on the number of hours of using a room in a month. I had to manually figure this out by getting percentage based on number of hours worked in a room in a month divide by total hours in a month.

So simple!
I have used Turbotax for my taxes for several years. I have never encountered any issues post filing and I find this product easy to use with helpful hints and info along the way. This year I was thrilled to find out that I could file my entire return from my phone!

Easy software for tax completion
This is the first time I used the online version of Turbotax. Very easy to use and it doesn't eat up memory on my new laptop. Really liked the 1 hour experience!

Works well, only a little confusing!
Overall quite user friendly. Takes most of the complication out of doing your taxes but as a Self Employed individual, there were some areas that weren't 100% clear but believe I filled out properly - hopefully!

The Turbo tax for couples taxes is great. It is sometimes difficult or not possible to see which person a page is referring to. It would be great is every page in the wizard had the name of which person(s) that page is referring to

A good product
TurboTax is a good product that helps you complete your tax return easily. Doing taxes is hard -- there are so many rules and options but TurboTax does a good job of explaining things to you.
It has some annoying features like auto-logging you out very quickly if the session appears idle.
It has some very good features like remembering where you were and helping you get lots of money on your tax return.
