First time user
This was my first year using TurboTax. It was fairly easy, however at the end of creating my tax return I didn't recognize the fact that I had not Netfiled my return. For 2 months I have believed that I had filed my taxes and I was proud of the fact that I had filed a week before the filing deadline, when in fact CRA had not received my tax return. I only discovered CRA had not received it when I had called and spoke to CRA about a separate issue and asked why I hadn't received my NOA yet. This was why.

Slick and easy to use
I've been using TurboTax for 4+ years now, and it just gets better and better. Great for simple returns or people with some idea of how taxes work!

Quite helpful
couldn't do my taxes without this program. glad it's available online for Mac users! One function I really want that the CD version always had was to go back in to the forms and find the specific line to review or adjust. online won't give the form overview like that.

My 2¢
Overall I quite like your online filing system. One improvement I'd like to see is easier navigation options. For example, I'd like to have an option to view ALL of the Self-Emplyed expenses in one screen. It would help ensure I haven't doubled-up on something without having to click back-and-forth.
Also, it would be great to have an "update" button in addition to the navigation buttons. I have to go back and forth to see how adding/subtracting an expense affects the end result. If there was an update button it would save a lot of time.

Clumsy
It is fairly simple to use and gets the job done. I haven't had any problems with cra using this software. But, I started entering my information into TurboTax in march but when I went back nothing had been saved. I had to do it all over again. There is no quick way to change fields easily if you have made an entry mistake. You have to go through page after page to get back to change inputs.

Quick and Easy
I've used TurboTax for years to do both my and my spouses taxes. Over the past few years we've moved to using self employment features with no difficulty.

Not bad, but needs improving
I made a mistake, and Turbo-Tax just ran me in circles. It would not allow me to correct the error, and after so much frustration and wasted time, I had to delete the entire return and start over.

Make sure you filed
I thought I had filed my taxes over a week ago and when I logged in to my CRA account today and saw they haven't received it, I panicked! If you're using NETFILE, you have to actually click on the blue NETFILE button and accept to send it that way, not only click Continue... Other than that, it's always been great!

Useful tool
It's an affordable and easy to use tool. I had used Turbotax for three years and I haven't had the need to hire a specialized accountant or to go to a tax filing establishment.

Great review questions
Up to date with tax changes. setting up personal scenarios at the start leads you through every step that will be affected for your circumstance.
One drawback is not seeing the T1 General until after the net file is completed.
Handles these items well:
Income splitting,
Dependent student carry forward & transfer of tuition
Determining best person (in a couple filing situation) to use medical expenses etc

Just picked this up for home business, and it made more sense to me than my Accountant ever will.
A few simple questions answered and your almost done.
It's unfortunate that you can't have your Accountant sign in online with you and tag team past the weird stuff. I let mine sign in to my account, and did a Gotomeeting to get past that.

Tax Home and business
This is a great tool to help people with small business's, also easy to use for the most part. Only thing i didn't like about the program was that if you didn't find a category to put a deduction into you had to merge it with something similar.

Excellent Value - I was impressed!
I found the interface to be a bit annoying without being able to get right to the field I wanted via the drop down. It was click into the start of an area and then hit continue until I got where I needed. Other than that and having to make a few calls to customer support for a few technical explanations (I'm quite computer savy but some help was required when some things weren't obvious) this is a very good way to complete and file your income tax. No regrets and I'll be back next year. Thanks Intuit!

Mostly great
I've used TurboTax for a number of years, and it is very helpful. However, on this year's edition, when I'd go back to make a change on my return, all my information would be deleted, and I'd have to start over again. I hope that this will be fixed. But, on the whole, I'd recommend TurboTax!

Cost effective
I used turbo tax for first time in over 10 years as I had an accountant doing my taxes prior years cause I was married to one. I found it stressful to do my own but that was due to lack of experience. I had someone coach me along and walk me through it as they used this type of programs all the time. I filed 2 years of taxes and the second round was a bit easier. I did fine the help and call centre rather frustrating and didn't get anywhere but over all worth the cost saving of having an accountant do it. I am self employed and run a business so if it all comes back approved with no hiccups then this will be my go to for sure!

Pretty good with one bad user experience moment
It was good for the most part, very easy to use, inviting design, and assuring that you'd get the most out of your return. However as a self-employed individual there was no where clear to write off my cell phone bill if I used my home as an office. The only mention of phone bill (which I believe was even land line) told me not to fill out that area if I used my home as an office. It said that it would prompt me later. I went through the section 3 times and it never prompted me. So I phoned support and they were unsure, said maybe to put it in "other expenses" which only mentioned conferences and nothing of larger likelihoods like a phone bill. Wish this section was more clear. However good overall

Easy to use and does the job very well! For the more knowledgeable in tax matters it can be a bit circuitous to get to the desired end result. Looking up info and printing documents could be simplified. Overall still a good product.

Minor Mistake in Calculation of Motor Vehicle Exp
I noticed Turbotax made a minor error in filling out my T1.
Under the section for motor vehicle expenses for business, after inputting all the expense amounts there is a calculation that divides km driven for business use by the total driven in the year then multiplies that by the total expenses (amount 11) to give you the total allowable motor vehicle expense. However, the figure inputted into the equation that should have been amount 11 - in this case $6536.68 - was inputted as $653.67. Which is actually the answer.
So, it doesn't actually change the end result, but it is technically the wrong information being inputted into that field.
Aside from that it's pretty easy to use. Though, because I own my own business, I have to later fill out a separate T2125 form that even the Turbotax Business doesn't supply. Which is a little annoying because it has all the exact same information that gets filled out in the T1.

Generally easy to use. Only thing to suggest is a tree-view to easily jump between parts of the return (so as to avoid multi-step wizards simply to modify one piece of information). This would be especially helpful for the self-employment sections.

Good Product
TurboTax is easy to use for the most part and it makes plugging in numbers as easy as it gets. Still a little bit complicating including business deductions and vehicle deductions.
Better explanations for terminology and acronyms would be helpful along with descriptions of what certain classifications mean or represent.
EX: GST/PST, HST. Explain how they are used and what items we may claim in these areas.
There tends to be a lot of overlap and some separate areas for clarification would be helpful. Maybe I'm better off to just pay the extra money and get a pro on the phone.

Phew, another year done!
Used Turbotax for at least 3 years, and it has been great. Walks you through most things quite clearly.
There are a few things that need a little more explanation, some of which is covered by the community help section. However, I seem to remember there used to be a live help chat function. This was very useful, as sometimes either the answer is not there, or you don't know how to word the question in order to find the answer. Generally great though, will be using again next year.
