Good product, needs navigation improvement
I had only one problem where the product, I found I had to go back a few times to get my .tax file downloaded, as the program seemed to skip that step. I have found having to navigate between sections is not easy and could benefit from some updating.
Overall, the program is simple to use and user friendly. I found entering my information was easy and the questions it asks me helped in completing my return with all deductions I could get.
I had to use the online tax support once, and found the agent helpful and was able to answer my question. Between that and the forums, I found all the information I needed to complete my return.

I am using TurboTax for 5 years now
Pretty good software that I use for investment and business taxes. Good documentation and help (including phone support).
The only problem is that there are some bugs that have not been fixed since last year. The good thing is that they don't affect your return, just call support if you are not sure.

2012 CRA changes
I think TurboTax is very user-friendly, but I feel that the changes for 2012 could have been highlighted as the applicable screens came up. I missed (or misunderstood) a couple of screens, which led to confusion at the end, and having to go back to locate what the problem was. Used TurboTax for several years, and expect to continue.

Better than the old methods.
I did it all online using the "easy" method for both personal AND business taxes for the first time.
Despite doing it the way I don't usually go I found it to be very easy, especially the "Business" part.
Well worth the money.

excellent for personal, pretty good for business
I have been using TurboTax (or Quicktax) for years now, and have just begun to use it for business use. mostly everything was clear and easy to find. I had one issue in regards to business expenses, but their online support was quick and clear to help. I have absolutely no problems TurboTax, am very satisfied, and plan on using them for years to come.

Improve busiess expense entry
I found the step by step process fro entering business expenses very onerous. there should be a short cut that is easy to use like the template for rental expenses!

The only issue that I have is the inability to transfer older income tax data to previous years income tax.

Greatly Convenient Software
Self Employed category under the Home and Business section needs a bit of clarification. After the screen where you identify yourself as being self employed you do not expect on the next screen to be asked for an employers T4

Helpful tips; could use some explanation
I used this last year with minimal complications. I'm not sure if they changed the form or if I was just very confused this year, but I had to contact TurboTax help twice. In one session, the very patient representative spent an hour and a half trying to figure out why I had an error. Thankfully it was resolved, but I don't know how it got there in the first place. You have to have some idea of what you're doing if you're using Home & Business - someone who has never filed taxes would likely struggle with what they could and couldn't claim for self-employed or work-at-home expenses unless they were somewhat familiar with tax laws. It would be very helpful if TurboTax would include an explanation in their self-employment section that if you do not have a tax number, a business name, or a partner number (as I don't because I do not have an incorporated business and simply work from home) that you should select "professional" and leave the fields blank except for a business name, which can be of your choosing. Choosing anything other than "professional" will not allow you to continue without entering the aforementioned information. A simple explanation on the main page would have saved a lot of headaches.
Otherwise, it seems to be very thorough and caught more refund opportunities and carry-over information (such as tuition) than a well-known tax preparation company, who we used for four years before trying TurboTax.

Just one thing
I have been very happy using the Home and BusinessOnline version of Turbo Tax for the last four years. I just wish it could do my bookkeeping for me all year long! If I could change one thing it would be this: when I follow through on one of the suggestions or warnings at the end of the summary, there should be a simpler way or then returning to that summary page that I was previously at.

Good Overall, Could Be Improved

Good, reliable product
Very good product, I'm already into my 3rd year of using it.
Its GPS-like flow is definitely helpful, and empowers the average person to be able to file their own taxes.
What I would appreciate in the future is a better Help system, or overlays/popups explaining in detail specific terms (i.e. business vs. professional expenses), etc, and also an easier way of navigating back and forth through the steps.

Definietely helps speed up doing a return. Still require excellent record keeping and back up. A little confusing to find areas when trying to update with information that was missed or skipped the first time. Overall though a decent program.
