Easier than I thought
Great poackage for those who are not computer or finance savy. Very easy to use, the help sections with more info are excellent.

excellent
Took me less than 45 minutes to complete and file my families tax returns and all from the comfort of my home. Using turbo tax services since 2007 and its gotten better and easier to use year after year. Worth it!!

great experience - recommended
Although I find the price a little steep for an online tax solution --- especially with so many smaller companies starting to enter this space --- I like TurboTax, have been using it for at least 5 years, and appreciate the improvements made year after year.
The ability to click around in my return rather than being stuck in an interview is good.
It seems easier this year than it has before. Maybe that's because I'm getting more used to TurboTax... or maybe that's because Intuit is actually improving the product interface. The software looks good now - that's for sure! Way better than in the past.

Good but lacking detailed summaries
I found it confusing moving from section to section and not seeing a summary or subtotal after completing a section. Example: CCA expenses, I was not sure if they had been entered or not.

Excellent product, but more cumbersome (and slower) than the downloadable version I have used for years on a Windows platform.

Beware the upsell!
It would have been 5 stars across the board except I fell for the Turbo Tax upsell. I would have been fine with the basic return software. I got no additional value for upgrading to Home and Business at a steep premium.

Technical Difficulties
A few technically difficulties this year. Had to redo it three times. Spent 4 hours total on the phone with tech support to get refunds for the files I could not file.
With all that said they were very helpful and I like the convenience of filing online.
*Beware* If you have issues and need to be refunded you have to do it in two steps.
1 - with Turbo Tax - promo code rebate
2 - with the Audit Defense - cc refund

Easy to use
This program is very easy to use. I have only one complaint - I wish they would specify which program you should use to open/save your file at the end. The program automatically saves your file as a ".tax" file, which is the format CRA requests, but your computer always asks you if you'd like to open it with Adobe, Word, Notepad, etc. and I still don't know which to choose. Whatever one I choose makes the file look like gibberish to me so I can't tell if it's the right one or not. I've sent it to CRA as is and they gave me confirmation immediately that it was right, but I feel like I won't know until later if it's read-able to them or not. So, at this point, I'm hopeful and assuming it all went through...otherwise, a very easy program to use (especially as a small biz owner).

Needs an easier way to identify forms
The interview question style can be confusing, especially for forms you are dealing with the first time. It would be very beneficial if there were a side column where you could quickly identify forms that you have on hand and add them, as opposed to hunt for them back at the interview question level. As well, some of the forms entries are not numbered in consecutive order which can lead to entry errors.

2025 Surprises
Ah, Turbotax :( My result was to complete a second return as I didn't recall agreeing to the much more expensive Live Assist when starting my 2025 return. It was somehow snuck into the 'import from last year' at the beginning that I have come to count on. Having used this product for 10+ years, I was surprised at this experience this year. A quick online search showed I'm not alone! I'm WAY to stubborn to pay extra once the payment showed up at the end. It was a significant difference, that belongs in MY wallet. ;)

Good but not great
If it very confusing to have two tabs with the amounts of refunds/owing for each adult but work through all the taxes in one go.
For business expenses, some common categories of expenses are missing and I cannot add them with a custom name like software subscription. This made me add this expenses to office expenses. I prefer to be able to customize the field name if your software cannot offer it to me. This is very annoying and takes a lot of time to figure out that the custom field option is not available. Same for Phone expense, etc. Add more categories or allow users to add custom fields!

Upgrade Un-necessary
I was forced to upgrade before I could file my taxes - this was totally un-necessary. Because I had a T4A, Turbo Tax insisted I upgrade to the next level. Waste of money.

Price is not fair
I purchased the Self-Employment version because i have T4 as well as self-employment income. My spouse did not have any income in the year but turbotax STILL charged me the exact same amount for their return ($70) which makes no logical sense, because that return had no deductions in it.

I was over charged
I had to upgrade from Deluxe Online Addition to Self Employed Edition. What I paid for the Deluxe Addition could not be applied to the Self Employed Edition. Further more I was going to be charged an additional $60 to do my daughters taxes. My daughter is on a disability pension and filing her taxes has alway been free.

Cannot revert back to premier level
I have been a loyal customer for many years. They advertised TT Premier for $24 (and also $24 for my spouse). This year I did not have any rental income but it still forced me to upgrade to “self employed” because it cannot revert back to premier level. I did not require any forms or functionality from the upgraded level but it was the only way to file. Cost me $120 (including my wife) in stead of the advertised $48. I spoke at length with a friendly call centre advisor and all he could do was to apologize and suggest I start from scratch with a new account and not automatically transfer information from the previous year. After spending a few hours to get to this point…I just paid the extra $72 and be done with it…but not such a happy customer anymore.

Factual Resident Issues
This is the first time that I moved out of country and I am required to file my tax return in my home country while I'm away. It was quite difficult to understand how to apply as a factual resident and the meaning of each part.
In the future, if this was more clear it would remove the anxiety I have currently. I filed my taxes, and I will pay CRA within a week, but I feel I will get audited because I do not think it was filed correctly.

Unhappy
I have used Turbotax for a long time, decades in fact. However, this year was the worst, as I purchased the Self Employed and paid the extra, but it charged my wife the extra amount as well. She is not self employed. As well, I was almost complete and wanted to edit the T4A that includes my Co-op patronage refund and switch it to nontaxable. Everything and disappeared and I could not get back into my tax program. I request help and the agent wasted an hour of my time and could not access the saved information to the point at which the program failed. She said use Chrome, so I had to download Chrome instead of using Safari. This was of no help in retrieving the information, so I eventually went back to using Safari after I quit the agency who thought she had assisted me to get the data back, but did not.
Eventually I was able retrieve some of the completed file, but it did not include my information from last year's file. Thus, I still had to add much of my information and redo much of the form completion. What a disaster, but ultimately I did complete both my wife's and my taxes and submitted them. The time required was extensive though and to have to pay for self employed for both spouses when only I am self employed is disappointing. Better luck next year if I come back.

good but
All was great until I wanted to stop paying CPP contributions on my self-employed income. I also had income under $3500 and am 70 yrs. For some reason it kept coming up with the requirement to submit the CPT30 form to Rev Can. Rev Can said no I do not have to as my income is so low and I am 70. I called help at Intuit and a wonderful support person could also not make the tax file not have an error. I had to download , print and mail which is so slow and inconvenient. This needs to be fixed in the software.

Transition to online
Having purchased the downloadable version of Turbotax for years I was surprised to see how much the fees had increased this year. I opted for the online version because it was cheaper than the download version. The Online version is so cumbersome to move around. For example one can not look up specific tax forms. If I had started using Turbotax with the online version I never would have stayed a client.

fees
Previous years I just used the basic program even though I am self employed - all the forms were there. This year I had to upgrade to the business program and so did my wife. She had to pay the higher fee, she is not self employed. This is turbo tax increasing fees. They kept asking to upgrade to advice to many times asking for more money.

Don't accidently click upgrade
You don't want to accidently click upgrade because your finger slipped, because you have to restart over. Total waste of time and will think about a different product next year. Also, if you combine a very simple one T4 for a spouse, but a small business for a second spouse, you have to pay the small business fee for both claims. Recommend filing separate because there is zero benefit when it doesn't find any savings, but costs extra money to file a very simple claim.
