Meh
It's the best of a lot of really bad options. It will try to upsell you at every turn and getting information on how to do something on a specific topic is like pulling teeth. If you have basic taxes, it's fine.

User Interface Gets Worse Each Year
This 2024 tax year was the worst for TurboTax's user interface. The questionnaire format and step-wise functions used to be clearer but now they are confusing and "circular" (causing the tax preparer to ask, "Did I answer this section already?"). TurboTax, your year-over-year changes are making the product worse, not better.

It was going great, until...
I've been using this for well over a decade, with no issues. Then SUDDENLY this year, they decide to add a 'self-employed surcharge', which MORE than doubled the price. No real reason behind it, as the exact same features existed for Deluxe 2023. Just another example of the war on small business, and opportunism at its worst. Boo.

Frustrating to use
Tries to be easy to use, but fails in a lot of ways. Goes in confusing repetition on opening. Click a wrong button and you can get lost. Why make big changes to the user interface every year? Always a big learning curve when you are under stress. On-line version not safe. -Sooner or later your returns will get hacked. Should be able to download and run on your own PC. Why do I have to enter my home space and business space for you to calculate my home-use expenses? I know it has always been 14.7% but I don't remember the actual areas that I calculated years ago. Why not optionally allow just the % used?? etc., etc.

Not as good as previous years
Last few years the joint filings flowed perfectly. This year the flow was imperfect, confusing, incomplete, and required much effort to backtrack to to simply input a T4 that was not prompted for. Also, I cannot tell if the 2 returns actually got filed or not, and cannot even find them now.

Need better pricing for self-employed
I am self-employed, while my spouse is not. Due to the fact that I am self-employed, the price for my return went up from $40 to $70, but this increase was applied to my not-self-employed spouse as well.
I also wish I could split the payment between 2 credit cards so that I can use my business credit card to pay for my return and my personal credit card to pay for my spouse's return.
Last but not least, more explanations and examples are needed for business expenses portion.

Needs better Navigation
I liked the older versions where I could jump easily back to somewhere I needed to add or edit an entry. Also I couldn't look at the official forms, like those in rental incomes.

Okay but.....
Not being able to get to amounts without having to drill through pages and pages can be quite annoying and time-consuming. The previous navigation menu was much more user-friendly. Changing an amount can be a long, frustrating endeavour, especially if you're a Quebec resident.

Less Transparent Than In Previous Years
I've used TurboTax for several years and always found it walked me through all the possible options. This year, I found I had to look for categories to add. It also classified me as "self-employed", which I am not. I am retired, and I had some rental/investment income. Unnecessarily confusing.

Concerns
The online version is not as user friendly. I was used to being able to switch from Easy Steps to the actual Form. You could not see the actual Form until the return was filed.
The help information was sometimes outdated and what was there was not informative.
I spoke to live agents twice and because of their accents, could not understand them. Agents should have a better command of the English language.

too slick now
they have made the tax process invisible to the user, no connection to what you are doing, difficult to reference where info is going, no confidence i have not missed something. Blind trust is not a good thing in this case. However, their phone help was actually very helpful when i needed to resolve an issue.

Better than the alternatives
It can be very frustrating when it warns you about something wrong, but then it doesn't take you to the right spot to fix it. I had to search around through all my receipts to find the one missing a date. Wasted a ton of time.

They scam you on join reviews
I need the "Self-Employment" package, my wife needs only the basic. When you select "file taxes together" it automatically makes your spousal return the same product as your return AND THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE THIS other than filing separately it seems.

Ease of use
Not a fan of the new version. I found it less user friendly than previous versions and I've been using the product for more than 15 years. Some features, ie pension split, should be earlier in the process not during the review stage.

Autofill from CRA
Multiple attempts to autofill from CRA failed. Only some of the forms downloaded in the end; almost none of the T5s and T3s ever did. Very little information or help was reachable on-line. The number to call was not free from overseas.

For the last 3-4 years your software has become less and less user friendly. It is hard to move around in the program. It is difficult to find less common forms. The Help function is useless. I have like TurboTax in the far past, but will probably look for another program next year. Sorry.

Could be Better
I tried filing my 2022 and 2023 Business taxes in 2025 but turbo tax refused to netfile both years even though CRA gave me the correct access codes. After all that work, I am still going to have to print and mail my business taxes. What a waist of my time and money. The prepping saved me time but the attempts at Net Filing was a waist of time. Please improve your software?

Turbotax more difficult to navigate this year
As a small home based business owner, I have used turbotax in the past to file my own income taxes. Turbotax has been getting progressively more confusing and less user friendly each year. I might use a different software service for filing income tax next year.

On line assistance
The on line assistance has been tremendous this year, I accessed them 3 time to fix a problem and finally got a solution. The great thing was they were readily available in minutes each time. Big issue this year was that T3s were having an issue with inputs creating errors. Also there are two spots each for line 52 and 53 with no real means to determine which one should receive my data. The other issue is the cost, it has gone up substantially. I will be investigating a government supplied tax file system to see if it will work for me.

Don't like this format
Have used turbotax for 15 plus years, don't like this new navagation format. Plus it seems that info isn't being auto saved as frequently as I had to go back and redo a segment because there were errors. First time that has happened. Price is getting a bit rediculous also

Declining UX
The user experience gets worse every year. Users are forced to go through everything step-wise. That is fine for the first pass, but often one must go back and add information as it becomes available. In the past there was a navigation that let one access any page. Now one must click through whole sections to get to the one page one is looking for.

Most years very happy, dissappointed this year
I have used this program many times and found it helpful and easy to use. This year there was a glitch on my account, when I called support they said they would get back to me about the fix. I followed up twice and on the last time I was finally told I would have to start from scratch and not use any imports. Very frustrated with the extra work and lack of follow-up. The agents that helped me each time were great but disappointed on lack of follow-up and no compensation for the fact I had to redo all the work again.

Revisions
Had difficulty revising the return after it was finalized and printed for sending. After several attempts did get what I wanted but clearly not as easy to use as the download version of previous years. While Intuit may be saving a copy for records in the cloud, I still prefer to have my own copy.

overpriced
When picking which return to use, I picked premium. It said this was the return to use for investments and rental income. It later told me I had to upgrade to small business. I do not operate a small business, just own one rental house. I kinda feel ripped off!
