Since yesterday Turbo Tax system has been down, cannot netfil my taxes. Cannot print as I have no printer, This has been an inconvenience and additional cost to me. No indication when the system will be restored???

I mistakenly downloaded my CRA information and not my wife's ... wow if I was single I was going to get $3000 back! my wife's return was mistakenly 0.. then I added hers in and I went down to $70 and she went to $700. Maybe we should get a divorce and file separately! There was no explanation of why her extra $22000 negated my return totally. A huge and disappointing swing. The past 2 years I have gone from getting something to almost nothing. My wife did start to work more since covid which must be it. Please check your software as the CRA certainly does not need any extra money from me. Very disappointed. I might try another software, maybe it's the problem? I'll be surveying my married colleagues at work to see what they got back.

I have used TT for the last 6 years to file - every year has gotten more expensive and as soon as I added rental income I am forced to buy "self employed". 126$ to file when other products are offering free. I do not know if i will return - also do not like the new format, was much better before!!

Note - If a user DOES NOT have a cell phone, then the two part validation does not work, because it attempts to send a code via SMS. Please change this for next year to allow a code to email. Regarding recommending - would not recommend if you do not have a cell phone.

I don't like the features for 2024. In past years, I see the respective return amount for each person AND the total amount (refund or amount owed) for both, but this year I do not see the total amount added together. Also, there is no quick way to return to previous page, like in previous years.

Painful to correct 'Errors' and 'Warnings'. Too much pop-ups to buy added value stuff. Hard to find details - too dummied down from prior years. the CRA dump of T4's is awesome, as is the CRA instalment

While I have been very happy with TurboTax in prior years, I experienced problems filing my CRA return this year which turned out to be related to software glitches on TurboTax's end. This was especially annoying because I had fully paid for the service. After speaking with customer service, I did not receive the promised follow-up email to advise me of when the issue would be resolved. I finally was able to file successfully after trying again today - 10 days after my initial call to them.

The online software is OK. I had to track down the relevant form for Capital Loss, and the software had a glitch in completing a T3 slip that wasn't fixed until April 1st. Turbotax said I would be notified when the glitch was fixed, but I wasn't

Misleading as I was under the impression that TurboTax was completely free if opted out for professional advice, but was unpleasantly surprised when I had to pay a service fee after filling in all my info. It was only $20 which isn't terrible, but still unexpected

I did 2 tax return for a couple: 1 self emloyed and 1 retired and being charge 2 X $60 + tx Ithought it would be 0 for the retired person

This version of Turbotax is the most unusable yet. Unlike previous years, I could not track progress through sections or easily navigate to existing sections of my return. Bad enough that I will consider using another service next year.

Product keeps changing for reasons I can't understand. Wouldn't it be nice to come back to the thing you only do once per year and have it be like the remember? Turbotax isn't like that. It also keeps getting more and more expensive, and every 5 pages they try to upsell you. Its annoying.

I have been a customer for many years. I very much DISLIKE the "NEW" (2024) format that provides less information and makes navigation more difficult. "Change for Change’s sake" is NOT appreciated or required in this type of product! Bait and Switch! - I received a promotion email for 20% off only to have that snatched away because I prepare my taxes together with my spouse and it just so happens that discount is not available for that scenario - That was very frustrating – Turbo Tax don’t be like that !. The Self Employment Module needs to be made clearer and is buggy - There should be a section that is only for COMMON INFORMATION including basic Business information, Total Revenue, GST/HST and alike then a separate section for partner only information. Miss-leads: Page that says at the top "Steve, what was your self-employment income?" IS WRONG! This is the COMPANY Income (Not MY Income in a partnership) I called the help desk and THEY also got it wrong. This led me to input only my portion of the income initially! Bugs: Income Summary page shows $0 under: Income not on a slip, Total Revenue when it should show the amount (if you hit edit you get to the income input page and the amounts are there. Bugs: On the same page under Additional Info GST/HST shows just a comma " , ". It is hard to get clear, but I eventually determined that Turbo Tax HAD recorded the information it just did not show on that page! They also eliminated the Business Summary page - WHY? My experience over two full days working with Turbo tax had me reading the CRA t4002-24e Guide and then download and fill out a draft T2125 form to compare to my last years form so that I could understand how the Turbo Tax software logically must work and what to fill in where. Why should I need to do that? There were two times when I went over to UFile and started working with that program only to get more frustrated by how they do things. When you spend time learning a platform it is frustrating to learn a new one, so I came back to Turbo Tax, struggled on, to finish and file my taxes. If I one was skeptical, one may think they leave these bugs in the software on purpose to instill a feeling of uncertainty to drive people to pay to upgrade to their review service. Only the fact that the UFile feels, in my limited view, like a more difficult package to learn kept me with Turbo Tax. The best of a difficult lot is not high praise, and I really believe they could and should do better.

Overall, TurboTax makes doing taxes relatively easy. This year's version has several glitches with error checking. A major one is with T3 forms imported from CRA. The software claimed that two boxes didn't add up when they did; manually rounding to whole numbers got past it, only after wasting at least an hour of my time. It's now harder to navigate to individual forms than previous versions. It's also annoying that there are frequent screens trying to upsell the more expensive versions with expert assistance, etc. My spouse qualified for an Etsy discount on the software but there was nowhere to claim it when paying. Overall, a disappointing downgrade from previous TurboTax versions.

Just when you are ready to file (after spending hours on it) turbotax makes you 'upgrade' when you don't have to so they can make extra $50 on you...!!! Don't want to upgrade?, then you just wasted all your time and effort. Feels like extortion to me! And it's my second year feeling extorted. Perhaps next year I will pay my accountant $150 and be speared of this feeling. What started like a good thing for all is turning into a scam. Hungry for profit company, ruining a good thing. Nothing stays good for long. Disappointing!!! Good luck to you all!

I've been using TurboTax for many years and have been very comfortable with the software throughout multiple releases and versions (both on-computer and now web versions). Unfortunately, I found the 2024 Tax year layout VERY hard to navigate, with far too many basic (and critical) points in the process stuck hidden behind menus. It almost seemed like the questionnaire at the start of the process wasn't respected by the subsequent steps, creating a confusing process that I had to go through 3x just to ensure what I was submitting was accurate. I would recommend migrating back to the previous layout with the "steps" listed on the left side of the interface to allow for easier context of where you are at in your process.
Also, it might be prudent to make the questionnaire smarter and a bit more probing to make sure that you clients are remembering all appropriate paperwork, deductions, T forms, and other items at the start vs. later in the process. Even though I'm experienced in filing my own taxes, I feel like this year I was "missing" key documents to have ready before I got to a question, and when i reviewed my return I realized I should have completed other sections.
Lastly, giving the option to your users to fully review the entire process from the start (not just providing a list of numbers/changes), and rapidly going step-by-step again through the process would support confidence in submission.

initial adding mistake on a form when corrected, would not recognize the correction and keeps coming up in warnings. Also, I'm over 70 but it is concerned about CPP contributions

Forced me to pay self employeed rate when I am not
Normally I give a better rating but this year I was really frustrated by the fact that the system charged my partner and I the self employeed rate when neither of us are self employeed and receive a T4 from companies. There was no where I could find information about what input was triggering this which was so annoying. We filed anyway since we already filled in all of our information. We may take a different route next year.

This years revisions saw some challenges with T1198 initially not being available, to a CCA issue on short term rentals when none existed, to long times on hold waiting for an answer only to work it out myself. The search function is also lacking in this version.

It never asked to import info from the previous year. On every sign in, I came back to the home page, making it difficult to know where I left off. Kept warning that we both couldn't claim N. A. but I had zero amounts on one. Switched but same problem.

I am a loyal customer for many years. This year again, I got a T4A, but this year, I was automatically upgraded to a 'self-employed' category, which I am not. It costs me an extra 40$ and I can not do anything about it on the website. I am extremely disappointed with this fraudulent technic to make extra money as the system does not even allow to contact help to deal with that matter. I will be filing my taxes with a different company next year unless a human being that is actually reading this message and understands the situation can resolve it for me. Very disappointing...

I have used TT for the past 7 years and prepare at least 5 income taxes per year. This year I was confronted with a re-design of the platform which I found very frustrating to use and wasteful of my time. TT removed the handy list of topics which used to appear on the left side of the screen.This was very helpful as I had been able to get back to a topic very quickly. Now it is all hidden and it takes forever to find a topic. Also TT has moved the refund amount to the middle of the page where it now obstructs any printing of any of the information. Finally, when I needed help, I spent 2 hours on the phone with someone who was friendly enough but couldn't solve my problem and after several attempts on her part, concluded there was no possibillity to send an email explaining my problem. What kind of service is that?

I have been using Turbotax since it changed its name from QuickTax and I was using that software pretty much from inception. This was my 1st year using the Online version. It gets the job done but I find the flow not quite as good as the desktop version (likely biased). I do know however that when you start (and I am on on 3rd return this year), it does cycle through the profile portion at least twice if not 3 times. And there is no going around it. Just a little frustrating and why the ratings are not all 4 (or 5).

the only way for me to go back once i made a mistake and clicked on self employed, was to delete and do a whole new return. what an utter waste of time.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
