Read Everything Clearly
I recently filed my taxes with my wife and was charged the same amount even though she is not self employed like myself. When I called customer service they told me I needed to file my taxes separately and I would have to start everything all over again even though I ran into the same problem the previous year. Last year customer service told me it was a glitch in the system and credited me back the difference so I completed my taxes the exact same way this year.

One week of stress and sleepless nights
Very bad user interface, one feels locked out of key information, and the workflow is not apparent. In the end, all the data amazingly gets compiled accurately and the tax filing is smooth, efficient, and fast. But checking ones work along the way is near impossible.

Very complicated to use
This application is very confusing to use. In addition the automated CRA document downloading feature makes you believe the Quebec data also gets downloaded where in fact only some information from the documents are transferred, the rest needs to be added manually.

Easy to use
I've used Turbotax for years and find it intuitive and easy to use. Gets better each year. For 2019 an unexpected frustration was that the app locked me out every 10 minutes with an alert that I can't have it open in more than one window at a time, even though it was the only window open. At least getting back in and resuming was quick and easy each time. Loses two stars because of that annoyance, otherwise highly recommended.

Not for knowledgable tax persons
I was not able to access the Forms format, only the Interview format. This meant that I had to re-enter and click through the same questions repeatedly. It took probably three times as long to complete and re-check my work. This program does not give enough flexibility for my needs. (It would be a great program for beginners though).

Please do not charge Self-Employee filing rate
I have been using Turbo Tax online for years and found it of good convenience and value. However this year's experience is less than pleasant. I am self-employed but my wife is home-maker with no income. However, she's also charged at self-employed filing rate. A bit disappointed.

Bad spousal return option
I have used turbotax for over 10 years (cant remember how long) and this year the change to the self employed version is horrible. My wife is a basic return and she is charged at the same rate as me with self employed. This is the last year I am using turbotax because of this.

I got scammed
Software is decent. Forms not accessible. Beware suggestions, it switched me to self employed and I could not go back. I had to pay double for my returns because of this.

Not so great with QuickBooks
Shocked that Turbo Tax and QuickBooks do not work together. Last year I used TurboTAx as always and I received a promo for QuickBooks. I jumped on the offer and used it all year. When I went to file I discovered that the categories in QuickBooks for sorting receipts is entirely different than the categories used in Turbo Tax for filing. I had to spend hours and hours sorting my receipts so they could be filed in the correct categories under Turbo Tax.

When did turbo tax get so expensive?

a bit disappointed
I am disappointed in Turbo tax because I could not electronically file my taxes as I have done in previous years with the same type of self-employment. I was very happy with turbo tax in previous years, and the reason I came back each year was because I was able to send in my taxes online. I will probably go to an accountant next year because it is a hassle if I have to mail it in.

Beware
I had a problem with an extra amount put in my wife's T slip section. Help couldn't find the problem (Chelsea), and the schedule call couldn't find the problem(Paul), and the person they contacted couldn't find the problem and recommended that I start over and input my information again. The second time through worked well.

Stop Putting Upgrade Ads in a Paid Product
You're really upsetting your customer by placing "upsells" in the middle of your product. This isn't McDonald's. You don't ask people if they'd like an apple pie after they've placed their order! Really frustrating

Not flexible
Turbo tax forces those buying a (more expensive) SELF-employed tier into the same tier for their spouse! And they don't tell you until you're about to complete the return. Not Cool.

Error net filiing
I have used Turbo Tax for years but this time, I could not net file. Call CRA and they said the issue was not from their end. Call Turbo Tax twice 2 days in a roll, The second rep tried hard but could not resolve it.

Good but needs index and form view
Turbo Tax used to have an index and form view that allowed you to easily find and edit screens and see the calculations. Now it makes decisions for you via the interview, and if you make a mistake you will not be prompted to enter the information later. Please bring back the index.

Technical issues
Found that the program tended to backtrack to prior pages on its own resulting in two reviews being conducted on info inputted. As well, when I downloaded the pdf copies of returns to print, the program closed when I exited Adobe Reader.

trouble filing
Return didn't file after payment was made and no option to netfile came back up. had to search through help section after taxes were late because I couldn't get a confirmation and CRA said my taxes weren't filed.

Needs to develop downloadable version for MAC OXS
I was surprised to find that when I tried to download the Turbo Tax desktop version to my Mac, that it was only available to Windows users. Given that we are in 2019, I would have expected this service to be available across both operating systems. Turbo Tax needs to address this as it was frustrating to use the online service.

you should not be charging for identity security. does not give me comfort that if I don't buy added product, my information could be vulnerable. you are in the business of dealing with sensitive information and identity protection should be a part of the package.

Help Doesn't Help
In the past, I have found Turbo Tax easy to use. This year I found an 'invisible' glitch, where some mystery expense had been added to 'Other Expenses.' Eventually I did find what number had been transported to 'other expenses,' and from where ... but not with 'TurboTax help.' 'Help' kept asking me to go through screen after screen, so they could see where I had made my error, and suggesting solutions that COULD NOT POSSIBLY produce the error. Two sessions of "help," with me asking PLEASE can I get someone to talk to that understands how an error could be produced that is not visible on the screens!!! I figured it out eventually, despite the "help", without ever being connected to someone that would know where to look in the program. "Help" really needs to know when they are not helping, and "help" really needs to be able to connect a taxfiler to actual help. ... on the plus side, I have some confidence that the program sorts out the tax credits.

Difficult to use
Product was not easy to use and at the end almost impossible to figure out how to print a return. Further it seems intent on selling more products than getting the thing printed. The categories for expenses are very vague and difficult to put in expenses for real estate agents.. e.g. where does the RAPP go?

OK but it needs to allow you to fix errors
My wife had no net income. I filled in all the boxes in the conversation, but while I could Netfile her return, her income of '0' did not migrate over to my return and so I was not allowed to Netfile my return. This caused me hours of frustration today until I eventually just printed my return to mail which is ridiculous. I guess I can put in the '0' on the front page with a pen, because the system didn't have the brains to put it in there given the information which was submitted.

Be Aware
More details on who can netfile before purchase. I purchased the self-employed version and didn't find out about CRA netfiling restrictions until I had finished. Knowing that before I started would have helped greatly as now I have to drive 150km to drop off a paper return.

Dissatisfied unable to netfile.
Dissatisfied with inability to net file and had to print out and send. This seemed to be due to working in 2 provinces... but frustrated by it even after speaking with rep who was unable to guide me through a net file. now waiting the few weeks for mail file to move through the slow system.
