Not User Friendly
On the CRA Statement of Real Estate Rentals form the government allows you to subtract the personal portion of total expenses. I had to set up a separate spreadsheet to do this. I also had to set up a simple spreadsheet to calculate the amounts spent on repairs and maintenance. I have one unit I rent for extra income and do not understand why the software does not do simple calculations.

Held Hostage Mid-Return
Intuit forces upgrades without the option to revert. By the time you realize the true cost of completing your return, you’re already too far in to justify starting over elsewhere — and Intuit is counting on that.
They’re now coasting on the reputation TurboTax once earned as a great product. I’ll be switching to a different solution next year.

not easy to use this year
Very convoluted to get to our child's tuition transfer page. Also not easy to find required T1 lines from children's tax returns to fill in on our's. Took all weekend to do our family's taxes

Unhappy Camper
I am unhappy with TT this year. I did not find it intuitive to use and there seems to be glitches in the software.
When looking for help to correctly fill in a T3 submission and stating the boxes that were at issue, I was presented with almost 11,000 responses, almost all of which did not apply. I hope you will do better next year.

Don't like theOnline version
Wish I would have purchased the download version, but at the time of purchasing I did not understand the distinction. I don't like the layout of the online version, or of navigating.
I still haven't figured out how to find the actual tax calculations, based on income brackets

Improvements aren't
The flow of the process has been changed this year in a way that makes it even harder to go back and find specific items, and which makes it easier to overlook items that might be applicable to you.

Self Employed package scam
It is unfair that both individuals filing together have to pay the self-employed fee for filing when one is straight forward. The email offer I was sent to get 20% did not include a coupon code so no savings were actually included after filing and I was required to pay the full self-employment rate twice even though I received no support in preparing either return!

shameful
I accompanied a person on a fixed low income who filed their taxes with TurboTax online, and we had to start over twice because the product kept suggesting a deluxe version that was actually useless. This person needed the free version. Once it was obvious that the deluxe version was not useful, there was no way to get around the software. We had to delete and start over. It was very stressful for this vulnerable and disadvantaged person.

If you want to waste time....
I have used Turbotax for several years now and often promoted it to my friends. But that is now going to end. This year the redesign of its platform feels like I am working in the dark! I cannot find anything and have to go back through several sections to make any corrections. What happened to the left hand screen with all the items? And why would you put the refund amount in the middle of the screen obstructing any printouts!!!?? Finally, I spent almost 2 hours on the line with their help centre and their only suggestion was to start over with a new return thereby eliminating the transfer of info !!!! Why would I want to do this??? They refused to provide an email so that I could get further assistance, telling me that no such email help existed!!!! What a waste of time!

Deceptive
I have used turbotax for a long time, but this will probably be my last year. I have always completed ones, including rental income, without the price jumping before. To me it is just a cash grab by turbotax itself. A joke.

Pros
1) It is super easy to use and I like the user interface
Cons:
1) I had to pay self-employment edition for both my wife and my tax return when only hers reported self-employment income
2) I could not e-file my spouse's return due to a software issue and called support twice but they could not help me or fix the issue. The only solution they offered was to pay for tax proffessional to review my return

Turbotax needs to be improved
Turbotax has to be modified to be more efficient. First, It doesn't have room for entering more than 100 entry of T5008 for each person that caused me headache. Second, it was not able to automatically transfer my data from RCA so I had to enter everything manually. Third, It doesn't recognize the US stock and cannot convert it to CAD automatically. Also it doesn't have currency exchange rate announced by BOC available as a tool.

self employed version was purchased but program did NOT prompt me to enter anything relating to rental income. Had to self navigate to the correct page to enter any rental info. Could have been a huge error!!

Online version versus desktop version
The online version is not compatible with the desktop version, requiring persons to upgrade to an expensive version online and purchase a 2nd licence when one was already purchased. The navigability is poor, must create bookmark to keep track of entries and sections. The navigation between sections is poor, forcing to go repetitively through modules that were otherwise completed. The online interface is not for me and I would definitely not recommend it to anyone.

Expenses found in income tax doc.
I discover in my doc. that expenses have been added into the income of 2023 and I have never added expenses in my last previous years. What happen, why expenses are showing in 2023 income doc.! Second question: Why I can't input my home address different than my wife address! In 2022 I could do it!

Inaccurate!
I've been using TurboTax for a long time and it was working well. It was easy to use. But this year, the outcome was inaccurate! The refund turned out to be less than it was supposed to be after I Netfiled it. Not happy about that at all. I will NOT be recommending it to friends and I am considering using a different software for next year.

Not all Forms available
This year certain forms for married people such as pension sharing, were ONLY available if you filed as a couple. Lots of reasons why married people would file separate, and I am unsure why you would even make forms unavailable for anyone doing their taxes. Total bust this year

Tried to do auto fill for myself and my wife and it only let my wifes SIN work, i could not get mine to work for the life of me. I work in tech on computers with systems everyday, this was a terrible exp and felt totally broken, I dont think we got what we paid for.

Limit for self-employment
I was not aware that turbo tax will not be able to netfile my return if my business address is in another province from my address of residence. This was not stated until I was finished my return and paid then was not able to file electronically. This added stress and time to my return process as I now have to print and mail these myself.

Waited for software for
As a business owner, I can begin my annual taxes early in the next calendar year. In past years I have entered details except Tslips by Jan 5. Some years before December 30 of the tax year. This is why I use the software.
This year, I was faced with "coming soon" or "not yet available" for months. So, decisions about rsp purchases and expenses were delayed or made with less information. The full version of the software was not available until March - my busiest month of the year.
In retrospect, I would have been better off doing my taxes in excel and mailing in paper forms.

Too cumbersome to use
I'll never use TurboTax again. I found it very cumbersome to use, it took me forever to do, and I still had errors that CRA corrected. I'll just pay to have somebody do my taxes for me next year.

You won't read this
What good is a review if you formulate the review to only collect positive info, not the real experience?
Last year, the Turbo tax was packaged to sell as including rental and/or self employment, but then once into it, I had to purchase a new package and was not allowed a refund on the previous one.
This year, I chose "manual input" of some T5 info, but the software still pulled in the info from the government. There was no cue that it was a mistake, and it was difficult to go back and review.
I'm calling CRA and asking for a paper tax form next year.

Overpriced and not good for Mac users
The Mac version of TurboTax for self-employed is overpriced and under performs. If you are knowledgable about filling in your own T 2125, you will find the interview format to be frustrating. Moreover, there was a previous error in Carry forward several years ago that persisted for several years, and I am still not confident that this error has been rectified. Next year, I will try a different program.

Will Not Be Back
I found the cost of this program way to high.
I will not recommend this to others. I realize that I filed late but as a senior & receiving a refund I have that option.
Seems like every time you turn around somebody wants your money.

Forced into online
They have made it impossible to import your return from the previous year from online into the desktop version. So, once you have used the online version, if you wanted to go back to the desktop, you'd be starting over and unable to import anything. It was super easy last year to import my previous year return from the desktop version into the online version, but apparently it's a one way street.
