Getting Worse...
I have used the Turbo Tax product for approximately 18 years; overall, I have been historically happy with the product and have no hesitation to the annual 'subscription' of Turbo Tax. This year I was quite displeased with the 'tiering' of ordering based on my similar tax needs. Please remove the 'a la carte' components....charge a basic amount for everyone and provide all the tax forms. It seems disingenuous for TT to 'charge' one if they need to use a form, like T777, when one can get one (and fill in online) for free.
Remember, there are more options now...and it is much easier to keep a current customer than it is to 'lose' and try to get the same customer back.

Self-Employed options aren't the greatest
The self-employed options aren't the most comprehensive for freelancers/people in the media or creative industry. Options are limited and wording isn't the greatest. Would like if there was more thought regarding industries. Also - none of the affiliate links I was provided worked. I used Turbotax for years with no issues. Hit a lot of snags this year so I'll be considering different options moving forward.

Not great
The website is optimized for money grabbing. They make the life of the taxpayer difficult. If someone selects a premium option by mistake, you can't remove it but to start from scratch again! These softwares should not cost this much as it is based on CRA software. Companies like Wealthsimple makes filing easy and affordable.

My husband is self employed, I am retired. We file our taxes together and they charge me as though I am self employed. I used to purchase a package that I could complete my children's forms as well for the same cost. This year we paid for 2 self employed and 3 individual children's forms. Much more expensive this year. Seems there were also many changes to the forms for self employment this year and I'm not sure if I liked them or not. I was prepared with my documents as I had done them in previous years and had to go back and recalculate several items. I did however like that my previous information was carried forward.

You clowns don't fix problems
A few years ago, I called to tell you that you have an error on the depreciation rate of CCA class 14.1. If the asset was purchased prior to 2017, it should depreciate at 7%. You fixed it that year on the program, but then the next year, it reverted back to 5%. I called again this year, spoke to a lady who had no clue, but still tried to "fix it" for over an hour, she ended up screwing up all of my taxes and I had to start again. Gong show.

Where are the forms?
This is so time consuming to navigate around. To make one change, you have to go through a 100 screens each time! yuck

Horrible assessment
Both assessments for my spouse said she owes less than what the CRA assessed her. She ended up owing hundreds more in the end. Going back to an actual accountant next year.

Surprise!
Used Intuit to do my taxes for the past 4 years or so. Just got reassessed for 2021 and 2022 and now owe almost $4000. I am a gov't employee with the easiest tax situation. Not happy.

Why did price increase?

Topo Expensive
Turbo Tax is WAY too EXPENSICVE for what it is. I don't get money back, I don't have to pay, yet I have top pay Turbo Tax $68.25 just tpo use their software to file. That's a
"RIP OFF"!!!

Many Problems
Ran into lots of problems. Insisted on me being self employed which I wasn't. Insisted that I flipped a property which wasn't accurate. Insisted that I upgrade Turbo Tax twice due to the above so ended up having to pay more than necessary for Turbo Tax. My simple tax return took much longer to complete than it should have.

Lame; forced upgrade
It creates your tax return but it tries to constantly upsell you to the point of being obnoxious. The system forced me to buy a higher tier version for no reason. It claimed that I had rental income when I did not. Zero ability to get support so I had no choice but to buy it.

Easy to Use, but too expensive
For my wife and I to self-file our taxes together (without assistance from a representative from TurboTax), the cost was $130 + tax. That's too much to charge for using an online software program. What happened to $40 for up to 4 filings?? We will probably not be using TurboTax again.

Discount Code Thieving
Along with so many others, the 20% discount offered by using a financial institution's special link did NOT result in the discount being applied. This has always worked in years past. Seems like a way to pad their profits by baiting people with a discount that they don't really give.

Forced Upgrade
In 2022 tax year primer edition was all that was required to file rental income, in 2023 tax year it forced us to upgrade to self employed. What changed? unimpressed, at $130 there is no longer any value using turbo tax for a married couple with 1 rental property.

Glitches Galore
There appear to be glitches in the software (eg. Capital Gains Carry Forward, T5 slip information missing from Autoload) which prompt uncertainty in accuracy of the correct income and deductions and the final result. The dialogue boxes for "Find" information are difficult to navigate because they are not programed for keyboard scroll keys and have a very small window. Very annoying!

business expenses
Very annoyed I had to upgrade to premium to enter a few investment slips, and then upgrade to business to enter one professional income slip for my husband (no other deductions). Turbo tax is upselling everything they can - used to be a great product but I'm feeling done with it.

Worst purchase ever
I have used the "Self-Employed Online" and found out that when the software seems to be reporting inaccurate data from previous year (CNIL for example), there is absolutely no way to reach a turbotax expert. You get bounced endlessly by a stupid bot whose sole purpose seems to be to get you to pay more. It is unacceptable that this company would not answer for their quality issues. In addition, from last year they increased the pricing by 20%. DO NOT USE IF YOU'RE STILL UNDECIDED.

Very disappointed
The search engine is utterly useless. It brings you to topics based on the first letter you type in.
If you do use the FAQ search, links are provided that will not open. Even if you reload the page, as suggested.
So I bought a premium package to get individual help, only to find out that in order to talk to a live person, I needed to upgrade further to a "live" version. No thanks.

Disappointed
1. It is no longer easy to access different parts of the self-employed business pages. 2. Expense and CCA entries are unnecessarily complicated and less intuitive. 3. I could find no way to edit the comments for miscellaneous expenses.* 4. I could not easily find the page to manage the election to make CCP contributions.* 5. The fee for self-employment returns for 2023 is higher than 2022 AND telephone support is no longer included. A giant step backwards. ** Help search was not helpful in either case.
Next year, the chances of using Turbotax again are very slim.

Changed for the worse
My wife worked one small, short-term contract that earned her self-employment income. The software would not let me continue unless I upgraded to a self-employment product and charged three times as much. I am not self-employed, but file a joint return, so I also had to pay the higher rate. Additionally, there is a glitch where you have to enter and review dependants, medical and other information once, and then it takes you through the entire process again, multiple times, a total waste of time.

Not like it has been...
I have LOVED this program in the past. I had several frustrations this year. The answers provided from the help/chat feature were very limited - just pointed to what I already knew. The program was unable to show me my dependent in the patient drop down menu in the medical section (I checked several times that I had inputed my dependent). I entered some medical premiums in error and could never find where I had entered them again. I experienced several times where I was caught in a loop in terms of moving to the next section. When I navigated around the program (jumping from section to section) it seemed to have erased my answers so I entered them again. It made me not trust this program. The whole program felt like it was tripping me up so that I would upgrade to a version where I could ask for personalized help... I was so tempted. There was no other way I could find answers to my very simple questions (where do I input my medical premiums? and Why isn't my son in the drop down menu in my medical dependents?). Please fix these issues for next year. It has been such a great value in previous years.

Lousy Software
I have been using Turbo Tax for years with great success. This year there were changes to the user interface that made it much more difficult to use. In trying to simplify input, easy access to standard CRA forms (the T1 General) was sacrificed. Further, the program asks for information that is not yet input and will not allow you to advance through so that the info can be input and calculations made. There were several instances when I had to go back and manually adjust returns because of poor software development. I'll look for better tax software next year.

Bad experince trying to claim expenses.
It was very disappointing having to pay for the Self Employed service but found it impossible to enter in my business expenses after many tries. I run my company from home. I have expenses for internet, utilities, software and contracting freelancers.... none of which I could claim. I couldn't even claim my bill from TurboTax in the prior year. I scoured the income, business and deductibles section several times. I gave up in the end. My company didn't make any money this year, so those expenses wouldn't have counted for much... but it this was pretty disappointing.
Next year my company will have earnings to report along with expenditures. If I'm unable to claim my expenses again, I will be left with no choice but to leave Turbotax for another client that doesn't make claiming expenses so convoluted or hidden.

Too costly
The rental income portion that is now charged at a higher amount is ridiculous especially for those who don't have a business and are just renting out a basement. After paying that, there's the expert review that is charged per return even when you're filing as a couple. I only used this because I was pressed for time. A friend used an alternative system for almost half this cost and has all of these included in her package. Will begin considering other options.

Long Time User
Unfortunately I have found turbotax more and more difficult to navigate. For the experienced user, the inability to go to a more streamlined form view is very frustrating. Going through the "easy step" process is time consuming and convoluted. I miss the old product.

Could be better
I have used TurboTax for over 20 years and while the interface and the ease of filing has improved, the cost remains too high what you get. The CRA should already have an automatic tax filing option for all Canadians - regardless of their tax complexities. One should not have to pay for software to file their taxes.

120$ for a basic tax return
Rip off - none of the coupons work as i am a returning customer. Since turbotax only values new customers I will go somewhere else instead of this moneygrab
