Upgrades & Fixes
The cost is getting to be a bit much and the "upgrading" buttons are problematic - if you accidently click on one it upgrades instantly with no option to undo. Apparently there are no "coupons" as advised by the team on the phone and the only option is start the a new return. Coupled with some tax credit issues this program costs way more then the $140 when my time is calculated in.

Very dissatisfied
I used TurboTax Self-Employed this year and had a very frustrating experience. After spending hours completing my entire return, I began receiving error messages and my return suddenly started displaying my spouse’s information instead of my own.
I contacted customer support and spent over an hour on the phone trying to resolve the issue. The representative was unable to fix the problem and ultimately acknowledged that it appeared to be a glitch in the software. The only solution offered was to completely redo my entire return from scratch.
This meant I had to spend 4+ hours entering, trying to fix then re-entering my information due to a problem caused by the software itself. When I asked about compensation, the only thing offered was 20% off (about $14), which felt completely inadequate given the time and frustration involved.
I do not think it is reasonable to pay for a product that does not function properly, especially when the error results in significant lost time and effort. This experience has seriously impacted my trust in TurboTax, and I would not recommend it based on this experience.

Rental Income Change 2025
Forcing an upgrade to "Self-Employed" for the online return now for Rental Income of one person, and requiring both common-law partners to pay the $70 return fee is price gouging. $140 for using your software for a common-law simple return. I will be using Wealthsimple for 2026.

Single $487 income leads to huge charge
Waste of money. I took a single gig for under $500. Most of my income is normal T4. Now I have to pay for the upgraded package $120 fto TurboTax because of a single $487 payment.

Absolute Garbage
It expects you to memorize everything from your previous returns and wants you to pay for everything. Everything is a paywall. My 82 year old father and 75 year old mother don't know how to use computers. Why are you forcing them to file electronically now?

By default we are forced to paid for a self-income plan for my wife even if she doesn't have a company or any type of business, just because I have self-income (own business).

Confusing and Unethical Business Practiceiness Pr
Last year, TurboxTax Premier Online covers rental property income and expenses. This year, I had to spend $45.21 or 50% more to upgrade to Self-employed Online to do the same thing. In my view, this is an unethical business practice by TurboTax. In addition, TurboTax created confusion by making Premier desktop version covers rental property income and expenses but Premier Online version does not.

Will never use online version again!
We have used Turbo Tax for many years and always purchased the desktop version. This time we decided to try the online version. Not intuitive at all. Unable to get more info about certain things without paying extra. We have always filed jointly and this year the self-employed portion was removed from the basic version and even though I have a side business and my husband does not, we still had to pay for 2 home business versions in order to file jointly. Will not do the online version ever again.

So I wanted to file in my taxes for 2023 last year, I even paid for the self employment feature, but for me it wasn't straightforward that I didn't actually filed my taxes in, and I only realized it now.

Terrible product-never buy it
Terrible software. Cumbersome to use. What is worse, it was not updated for changes in the Canadian tax system that were announced months ago - inexcusable. It resulted in double counting certain capital gains that I had to correct plus dealing with input boxes about when capital gains were received that were no longer relevant. Too much focus on the US system, filing requirements and deadlines that are irrelevant for Canadian tax purposes so I received far too many "urgent" e-mail messages to file which were for US dates-cluttered up my inbox unnecessarily plus because I did not file by April 15 (US deadline for American PIT returns) you would not honour a discount you promised me via a third party. I will be informing the third party to drop you as a product offeror. I will never use turbo tax again. I have one more return to prepare but I will try out other software. Terrible product.

Not a good platform change
I have used turbotax for years and this new platform is terriible. It takes time to figure out how to navigate, is not intuitive, doesn't offer tips, provides no direction to the changes, is very cumbersome to navigate compared to the previous version.

This is the last time
I will not use turbotax in the future. The loss of automatically saving my tax data is not worth the incredibly frustrating process that the process has become over the years.
The only thing more annoying than being warned about the same unapplicable scenarios after already confirmed they don't apply to me, was being unable to begin the filing process without being warned that you skipped a review you can't even access before clicking on netfile.
The most recent site redesign is atrocious, and makes a completely manual tax return much more appealing.

Turbo Tax forced me to pay for the online use of the software before it gave me an error message and stated that I could not netfile my non-resident tax return. It should inform me before it steals my money.

Cloud based version sucks
This cloud based version of your software is just terrible. Hard to navigate, not intuitive, not able to find and bring up forms and schedules. Not worth the money. I have used your product for the past 10+ years and have always been happy, not this year now that you have switch to this cloud based version. Please bring back the version that I can install on my computer so that I have control over my tax return and information.

Whatever they did to the functioning of TurboTax for 2024, it needs to be reversed. How can you not allow access to forms/slips/etc from a main menu?

Misleading for non-resident
I read online that non-resident Canadians can NETFILE, but this program allowed me to go through all the steps of declaring myself a non-resident and filling out grant income, only to be told AFTER I paid, that I didn't qualify to NETFILE. And there seems to be no way of getting a refund. Waste of my time and 70 dollars.

Not as useful as it used to be
TurboTax isn't as user friendly as it used to be. The logic flow is gone and it seemed like a black box. The push to upsell toward a higher priced product is annoying and unnecessary. My income situation isn't complex but I was still required to purchase a higher priced option.
