Limited functionality, lots of "add-on" price
Super disappointed to be unable to use forms in TurboTax online. Had to upgrade and pay for features several times compared to last year, even for my college kid who's income was less than $10K had to pay because of a T5 with minor interest income on his savings account...one box to enter. Good grief! Won't use next year. As a former Intuit employee, sad to see it go this way.

Rental Income now part of more Expensive pricing
I'm not happy with this year pricing. Rental Income & Expenses used to be part of Turbotax Premier at 45$. Now it's part of Turbotax Self-Employed at 65$. So for the exact same product, it costs 20$ more. What a rip-off!! It's been 7 years I use Turbotax, but next year I'll look somewhere else.

Worst purchase ever
You charged us for two personal business account, knowing full well only one was applicable (you have our returns, obviously, so you would know). You interface is very difficult to use. We were not able to follow the paper forms to confirm that your software calculated correctly. There were far too many ads and attempts to earn more money. Please stop.

Unhappy Camper
I have been a satisfied Turbo user for years, but I am no longer happy with it. What a piece of junk you have become. The AI assistant is useless and I waited for over 45 minutes for a phone call that was promised in 5 minutes. Shame on you!

So not fair for return users that they don't get the 15% off discounts as the new users

Not happy
I purchased Turbotax at Costco and tried installing it but the activation code wouldn't work. I called the help number who sent me a link to use. After signing in and completing my tax return I found that I had to purchase the online version I used in order to file. So I payed for turbotax twice.

Times have changed
I have been using turbo tax forever (I am not sure how long, but i am pretty sure it is over 25 years). Originally you could see the forms and monitor what was being done. Now you dont even know what the software is doing. About 15 years ago, i switched from Turbotax and went to another software, but i came back because the other software did not offer access to forms and it messed up my vehicle expenses. Turbotax has a lot of issues. I can't believe CRA has authorized their use when the forms are hidden.

2023 Self employed Turbotax
I have used turbotax for many many yrs. This has been my worst experience with usage of online product. After spending many hrs and days preparing self employed taxes the software crashes as i was about to file. Talked to two agents from turbotax and no proper answer as to why i lost all the data. Was told to restart again. I requested to talk to their manager and was told that they will call me within 24 hrs. Its been 3 days and that has not happened. In all i had to redo the taxes costing me hrs of my time. As a curtesy turbotax would not even offer a promo code after going thru such terrible issues. Have to look for another software next year. download versions were good but turbotax does not have download versions for Mac computers

Pay extra to report self-empl income?
For 2023, my husband had a small amount of self employment income to report and Turbo Tax had BOTH OF US upgrade to the Self Employed product (from $20 to $52 per return)! I can't believe you have to pay to access a form?! Then the price jump is not worth it if you're just reporting a small amount and not claiming any expenses. It's also absurd that I also had to pay for it even though I didn't report any self-employment income for myself, just because we had to file together?! I searched around and people are now switching to Wealthsimple... I'll be switching next year.
Instead of charging more just to fill out a form, why not charge more when you're adding more value like providing advice or additional support to your users?

Double Check Everything
I'm self-employed - partner is not. Charged partner for self-employed tax return!? what is that about? Seems deceiving from turbotax to make a few extra bucks! no option to change your return plan either - if there was, it was not obvious.

Turbo tax - bait and switch
greedy company - tries to nickel and dime you at every turn.
For assist and review - clicked no thank you, yet still asked to pay for this service when trying to file
these tactics can't be legal!

Why??
So if my wife is self employed but I am not, why am I getting billed the same amount by TurboTax for my return which is quite simple?
Even though we file together there should be the option to pay individually based on the type of individual return.

Turbo tax was a money grab
Though it was easy to use, and I used it last year as Self-Employed. This year I was not self-employed and only wanted to use the free basic tax return, it WOULD NOT LET ME. Turbotax would automatically upgrade me to a paid tax program though I should have qualified for the free (under 25, only a basic T4 to enter). Was not happy. Tried multiple times to restart to access free Turbotax return, but it kept upgrading to paid. It was an unnecessary money grab by Turbotax.

Tricky and poor clarity
1/This supports up to a certain level. Did not want to use an expertise and had to pay 65$ supplement to finalise the income report.
2/Could not see clearly where or what are all the income deduction information. Wonder if it considerate my pension income deductions
3/Spouse or partner information - if not willing to add partner info in my report why ask for net income.
4/Could not send to CRA, now wonder if the Qc report has been sent.

No way to differentiate spouses
Using turbo tax is the most frustrating part of doing taxes. The software doesn't differentiate between spouses of the same name. Good luck trying to figure out who is who in the horribly clunky software program.

I have been a turbo user for many years. The change in billing system from the CD to the cloud was very time consuming. Compounded the difficulties of filing as was not able to carry forwrd from 2022 my opening personal detail nor business elements such as CCA. The final return was good but took a lot of unnecessary effort

Pricing changes for this year's version is fraud
Turbo tax decided for this year's version to force upgrades to unlock different tax schedules and worksheets. in the past, if you elected not to upgrade, the workflow will not help you complete the worksheets but you can still access them and fill them out manually. This year, they decided to lock out all the worksheets completely even though some of it is literally filling out one cell. It's a blatant money grab that took the cost of completing my tax return from 40 dollars in 2022 to 120 dollars in 2023 with no change in complexity. Shamefull business decision from Turbo Tax Management.

Wealtmsimple Tax is to go!!
I've been a loyal TurboTax user for over a decade, but this year might just be my last straw. Not only did I not receive the usual 20% discount, but the pricing for managing rental properties has become exorbitant. It's frustrating that TurboTax sent out promotional emails offering a 40% discount but expects us to file by the end of March when most of our slips aren't even ready until the 2nd and 3rdweek of April. What's the point of such a discount if it's practically impossible to take advantage of it? On the other hand, Wealthsimple Tax offers a much more reasonable $40 per return with audit defense included. It's time for TurboTax to rethink its approach if it wants to retain loyal customers like myself who are increasingly finding better value elsewhere.

Turbotax gouge
Every year I have been able to use turbotax deluxe to do simple rental information. I rent a room to a renter and they want to claim it on income tax - nothing complicated on the return. This year Turbotax changed their platform and I needed to purchase the self employed version which is significantly more expensive. Why this change? Turbotax is just looking to maximize their profits.

Accessible and easy to use, but charges hidden fees once all the work has been done and you're one step away from filing. It was free for me to file last year, and I will not be using TurboTax again next year because of these fees.

Not Good
1. I wanted to amend the calculation on Pension Split twice and no matter how I tried, even with your help tools, I was not able to do so. It was easier to simply start over with a new form and re-entry all the data.
2, In the past, you could access the data via forms and you could see the actual calculations on the CRA forms/schedules. Bring this back(!) it allowed for a better understanding of the submission as you worked through it.
3. I should be able to decide if you hold a copy for 7 years,
