NEEDS AUTOSAVE
Absolutely needs the Autosave feature - it's so easy to lose your work since last save. And the Foreign Income Verification Statement is useless -- Category 7 cannot be expanded beyond three lines, even though most people own stocks from all over the world.

Good but needs some improvements
Won't let you netfile if you don't take 100 percent of the allowable capital cost allowance. That needs to be fixed

Partnerships
Overall very pleased with Turbo Tax, however it would be easier if you could enter one person's info completely, then the others. Also, when doing a partnership based on say 51%-49% - the program does not auto populate the other partners so you have to enter ALL the data twice and ensure it is exactly the same. Other tax programs I have used auto populates the partner when you enter for the one.

Pretty Good Software
Does a lot of good things, many. Points out stuff one likely would overlook. Definitely good for carrying all the numbers and navigating complex calculations. Overall quite good, a definite timesaver.
Appears to promise access included on CPP review but does not deliver.
Non-committal on some things forcing you to read information that doesn't apply. Sometimes one is unsure whether a particular benefit is valid or not, or if the software did a particular thing for you or not.
I would definitely continue to use it. I used it years ago when I lived in Quebec. Definitely advantageous because of the separate taxation.

I like it
I have used TurboTax for 8 years and overall I really like it. I thought I was saving money by renewing on line, but got it cheaper at Costco. That's not good! Give your loyal customers a REALLY good repeat deal! Also, it tells you it won't print pages that don't apply to your return but at least half of mine were not applicable. An aggravation and waste of ink! Those are my beefs, but overall, I'm pretty happy!

TURBO TAX : GREAT PRODUCT
Been using Turbo Tax for 5 years and really like it for personal, business and rental property.
User friendly if you use the "Easy-Step" method.
Also very good using "forms only method" for those that are well acquainted with working through a tax return.
Highly recommend !
Will definitely use Turbo Tax again next year.

Long for Rental Inputs
Overall a great product with helpful tips and advice with the on-line support. One thing that bugs me is having to enter partner information every time on rentals. It does not have a drop down or something to be able to recall partners from previous properties or bring up the same from the previous year.

Coupling or uncoupling returns
Overall, great software and user experience. I am very disappointed though that one cannot couple of uncouple spousal returns. to see calculation differences. In my view, this should be in the works.

The split screen showing the actual form is too small for review, unless you are a hobbit.
The last printing instructions are not clear and create a duplication of the full package being printed especially if doing mom and pop applications at the same time. Annoying and time and paper consuming.

Pretty Good Purchase

Frustrated
While the programme is good and helpful, there are problems where one is left hanging and you canNOT get help or an answer. Only by knowing something about the complicated CRA rules and forms, can one by-pass the problem in TurboTax........

GOOD VALUE
I have been using TurboTax for Home and Business as well as TurboTax Incororated for years now. The ability to bring in prior years info as well as pdf, etc. is extremely useful. I did 5 returns this year (including a final for my deceased mother)and they went very quickly. Thanks and (almost) looking forward to next year.,

I use both the Canadian and US versions and I find the US easier to use and understand (for whatever it is worth). There is a section under business regarding salaries paid, but it says not to enter subcontractor info there. HOWEVER, there is no place to enter subcontractor payments and no place to issue a T4A for example. I believe in the US it is fairly easy to issue a 1099 off TT, but now I cannot remember. There is a line item for subcontractors off the guided path, but you cannot get at it even if you wanted. Fixing that would be helpful to me as I do hire subcontractors. I use the desktop product and have for many years and I appreciate the services you provide. For the first time I used your call in review service and found it helpful. I really appreciated the hours of availability and the reviewers seemed to understand the product well and were useful in their guidance. Thank you.

Simpler Language For Users
I would like Turbo Tax to utilize simple English language "terms" that better reflect what the common names of slips and forms are called by people.
Convert CRA terminology within Turbo Tax.

Turbo Tax is great. I like it. I have to go to often to the internet. Every Year it gets worse and there is less information on the CD.I cannot even find any industry codes. It only knows wrong code.

Businsess Income Issues
While TurboTax gives effective warnings and directions if there are doubts or possibilities of redundancies, it fails to do so when entering incomes. I inadvertently entered private business incomes twice for both me and my wife in the Other Income box and then later in the home business section. Hence, we originally owed income tax. This caused a great deal of grief having to wait for Notice of Assessments before refiling. All this caused stress and delayed our refunds.

Your Taxes
I found errors in between using easy step and the actual forms. The numbers were not populating correctly. Phoned and went online community no answers from Intuit whatsoever. It is up to the person doing the taxes to makes sure they are done correctly, so found out where the error was and fixed myself. Still cheaper than going to a accountant. Any mistakes and CRA will catch them anyway.

Good program for entering data etc
the one thing that could make it easier is if
US and foreign investment transactions could be automatically converted using exchange rates. At present all buy and sell transactions need to be manually converted to Canadian Dollars

NEEDS AUTOSAVE
The biggest drawback is NO AUTOSAVE. You can easily lose returns this way if something (such as communication with CRA) goes wrong. INTUIT MUST FIX THIS!

help line
helpline staff did not know the program, would not listen to my problem, but tried to tell me what the problem was, tried to tell me the software wouldn't do what i needed when the line was evident on the form, they did not know how to access it. Spent needless hours and several phone calls before I got a technician the could immediately understand the issue and solve the problem....very frustrating ..happens every year.

Took a bit to use but it worked.
I am not very good with electronics , but I was able to get through my taxes with this software. Some of the explanations could have been better for a first timer. Next year will probably go better.
