After Turbo Tax
Turbo tax is easy to use and good value. Do not recommend completing the evaluation at end of session. Was not interactive in all areas and continually took me back to complete "required" fields although the whole thing is supposed to be voluntary. Finally after re submitting data multiple times I exited from the evaluation. Very frustrating after having spent time completing taxes.

Recovery of CPP in year age 65 reached
My sister was 65 in August 2014 and filed a CPT 30 with her employer to discontinue contributions. Turbo tax calculated a refund of all CPP contributions in the year, rather than pro-rating them for eight months. My inputs to the program seem to be correct - is this a glitch?

Why is tax filing so confusing?
TurboTax has made filing easier - but it still takes me so many hours to figure out what is being asked. It sure would be nice if the government would make things easier - considering all that they tax from us.

nice once in awhile
did my own for years, then became an IC, so used a CPA...it's expensive so I thought I would try me again. not sure about next year, as it is more complicated.

A good choice in tax software
I have used TurboTax for several years. This year they have made it much easier to move back and forth to areas that you may not have the information for or you find something to add later. As well, easy to move back and forth to forms and easy tax method.

Save yourself a bunch!
No need to hire someone else to do your small business taxes, this program makes it easy to do yourself. The 24 hour online chat function is great too!

great DIY tool for basic returns
I use TurboTax every year for my husband's basic return and it is super easy. I find the home and business software a bit confusing for self-employed income entry but the online support is quick and phenomenal! Will definitely use again!

Slipped from 2013
I found the 2014 version of Turbo Tax harder to use than 2013 as the screens were more difficult to read and navigate. Some of the explanations used seemed more obscure and harder to understand.

Excellent product
TurboTax Home and Business enables me to do all the taxes for our proprietorship myself and saves a lot of money that would otherwise be spent hiring an accountant. I have done all our bookkeeping and tax returns for 10 years and have got audited and it was all good.

Solid product
I did my taxes by hand for years until somehow, I kept getting the provincial section wrong. Not only does TurboTax do the math right, it takes only about 25% of the time. I now use it to do taxes for my family as well.

Just a quick note. If you are entering a statement of professional activities, for business's that have partners, it would be nice if you did not have to re enter all the identical information again. I do realize only one partner can claim something like use of home, but most of the numbers are identical and an option to transfer it from one partner to another would be great! My only complaint. Thank you for asking.

Good But Needs Imrovement
I like the general simplicity and use of Easy Steps to switch between Forms and Easy Steps.
I find that the interface is now a bit old and not very intuitive.
I had to enter a T5 amount and the Easy Steps did not allow me to enter Royalties. I had to find the area in the Forms section which didn't really make sense. I am a multi-year user - I am not sure it would have been as easy for a 1st time user.
The entry area for Medical and Donations is archaic. Maybe some "copy" field options or something less cumbersome?
Also, for couples who co-own businesses and enter duplicate info on some sections, having a "copy this section to second return" might be nice.
Overall a good product and I will continue to use. It's a bit expensive all things considered. Having a reduced price option for less returns or something would be better. The price seems a bit steep for the amount of changes from year to year now.

Great program but if your not in Tax season you should know the support departmant is not open, you have to call customer service. Support voicemail only says they are closed for the night.

Easy to correct mistakes!
I like Turbo Tax for its simplicity. Sometimes I forget to enter a slip (i.e. charitable donations or medical receipts) and it is very simple to return to the section where they need to be entered and add them in. Or sometimes numbers get transposed and you can click the Back button to go and fix the numbers easily.

Really Good....but don't rest on your laurels
I have used TurboTax for years....the one thing that really bugged me the past couple of years is the RRSP section. It isn't really intuitive in that you have to not only indicate that you had deductions, but you have to find the actual worksheet add your deductions from a long list of deductions and it isn't clear which is a worksheet you need!

Overall Good, Beware Charitable Donation Optimizer
Pros - Forms easy to use, satisfactory help section
Cons - Charitable donation optimizer does not optimize carry forward donation to next year as advertised. This could have cost me valuable tax savings if I had not caught this. I'm very disappointed with this. I was able to manually calculate and do a manual override.

this is a great program BUT, it should be complete when first issued. In other words, there should be no need for updates. From the time I submitted my return to the time I printed it ( 2 weeks) there was a change in my refund amount??? how can that be??

Uso of Office for Business
Turbo Tax is generally an excellent product, but watch out for use of your home as a business. This should be reported on T2125 fut the forms lookup directs you to using your home for FARM operation. In my situation I was a consultant, not a farmer! Similarly, there is no link from the forms lookup from use os home as another type of business, but I don't remember which....

NOT VERY USER FRIENDLY
SOME OF THE QUESTIONS ARE BEYOND CONFUSING FOR THE BUSINESS ASPECT OF THE PROGRAM. FOR BASIC TAX RETURNS THE PROGRAM IS FAIRLY EASY HOWEVER THERE ARE TIMES WHERE THE QUESTION IS BROAD AND THE HELP ALMOST FEELS LIKE IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE QUESTION.
FIX THESE FLAWS WHICH ARE VOCALIZED AND THIS WOULD BE A GREAT PROGRAM.
