Be careful
Compared to a few years ago, this is crap and more expensive! The help system is useless. Most things you think you have simplified are more cumbersome. Please rewind about 5 years! Other than carrying forward some business CCA allowances, I would (and may) look for an alternative to this product. You can do better and have done in the past.

Good but not great
This program works well for a basic tax return such as my own, but was frustrating to use for my husband's return which included additional income from a small business. The program did not provide adequate support and we spent way too much time on this trying to fix errors. Next time we'll use a professional.

ACCESS CODE
I searched high and low and waited weeks for my access code. Guess what gave me an error code for Netfiling… the darn access code. Without it I could file no problem. That was frustrating

Somehow it showed I had self employment income and I could not delete it no matter how hard I tried. I had to input a tax year, industry code and address. I used my spouses info just to be able to file. My spouse had a similar issue - a second self employment showed up so had to duplicate the info from actual self employment info just to file.

Broken things
2 broken items:
1) If you use US donation in one year, it is STILL carried forward to use it the next year!!
2) Synchronizing a tax return with a dependent parent is not automatic. Sync is NOT done if the parent is entered last or changes are made to the parent.

mistake
I did three returns, two of them with default mistakes. It took long time to fix these problems. some income shown on summeray, they are not righet, also they are not what I entered.

This year seems harder
This years program seems to be making errors that are not part of what is input. Tells me I have applied for the Senior stuff in Ontario when it is available to everyone not just seniors.

Glitchy
I have normally been a huge fan of Turbotax and have used it for many years, but for some reason the 2020 download version was very glitchy. The forms were not filling out correctly and math not adding up correctly until the very end which gave misleading rebate/owing information. Thankfully you are able to contact their assistance line and after a few calls in I found someone that knew the system very well and was able to help out and video the glitches to take back to their tech department to fix. I buy this product to save me money, and this time it cost me an extra 4-6 hours in troubleshooting. Not impressed with this version. Maybe will just do online version next year or find another product.

Calculation errors made in Farm business forms
My husband and I purchased the Home and Business version of Turbotax. Together we have to file for our Farm business, our solar Business and our personal income taxes.
In the farm business part of the program the CCA calculations when they multiplied by the percentages listed gave incorrect answers, and on top of that when the identical numbers were entered on both my husband and my forms the calculations came out differently.
I called Turbotax and got a very helpful person, Jona, who couldn't figure our why it was not doing calculating correctly so had me do file overrides of the incorrect numbers. I thought that was great until when I was checking over everything there was a notice that I might not be able to use NETFILE because of the overrides on my forms. WOW, how frustrating is that I managed to efile but have no faith in Turbotax program.

Not impressed now
I've used turbo tax for years and even go back to the quick tax days. I've always been able to do self employed earnings for a friend of mine using the standard version because they never makes enough to pay taxes so they really can't afford to go to outside help. They don't know how to do taxes so I've offered my help for several years now. I was really dismayed after buying the standard version to see they had virtually curtailed being able to use it for low income self employed people. I do not quite a few of them. I'm a bit luckier off so I buy the standard version so I can help people out. So other than the people that are on government assistance of some kind, I now can't use the standard version of turbo tax. I had to go out and buy the home and business version. It was way more complicated than before, had very poor built in help, entered sums on lines that I didn't choose causing me to have to search for the numbers. When selecting the fix this problem prompt, the program crashed several times after restarting it each time. I had to go find the error myself. I've had other issues with turbo tax but it wasn't hard to figure it out. This time was very disappointing and makes me question continued use of turbo tax.

improve intuitiveness
There are dependencies within the forms structure that are not intuitive. I have been using these forms for about 20 years and in the last four years have been stumped because of a lack of explained links. A manual of problems that people have run into would be helpful. For instance - if your forms load in 'fits to window' the fields will not take data. I also had a form that was loaded for 'partnership' that did not apply and held data skewing the result. It magically disappeared when I started filling in the linked partner Return.Techs were good when I could reach them - exceptional..
Should use an account number for the registration process instead of having to enter all the data repeatedly...Charger

Does the job eventually
Does the math fine, prints reports fine. Navigation is poor, not intuitive, seems worse than in past years, hard to move around, hard to find specific items, end up going through same sections repeatedly Increasing font size is nice but cant increase both TT font & CRA form font at same time. Help utility is not very helpful, can't find acronyms like UCCB, can't find explanations of conditions like tax exempt income. Keeps warning about things that were not selected, like selling principal residence as if somehow I flagged it. Some definitions are different than CRA's. The tax summary page seems incomplete, does not show provincial summary.

Poorest Rating in Years
After using Quick Tax and then Turbo Tax for several years, I was satisfied with the Home & Business upgrade however the support service and help options were well below past levels. It's very disappointing when you install a program only to get a pop up asking for more money and an upgrade for live help. Trying to find answers was very difficult so I ended up utilizing CRA. Kudos to the YouTube for Self-Employed (re Toby Melons); the presenter was very good although it was a different format and look.

Additional Costs
There are too many unexpected additional costs associated with "live" assistance and "tax reviews". At the end of the day, one might as well go to an accountant and not spend so much time and effort doing this on one's own. There is no real advantage of doing all the work with no real benefit.

T Tax need development
I feel T Tax has become complaisant in just rubber stamping what they did last year. I will use it again next year but will hire an accountant to double check this and previous T Tax subminssions.

Not worth it
I had to update to Turbo Tax Home & Business, as the program would help me with an industry code need to efile my return. Spent the better part of a day trying to find one that would work. Would be nice if there was a drop down option for this on the form.

Is it worth it
To cover my Home office expenses I must purchase this version of Turbo Tax. I'm not sure if the extra cost of purchasing this version offsets the home office costs, and if it does it just covers the cost. Not a good value.

not as good as past years
I have used this product for years. But this year it is not as helpful as before. Example
You need to help more for self employed small business! It is to vague! You should just have a gross biz income and go from there. The business deductions are not the same as before, i had to go to forms to put in that info. It wouldn't show up in easy step!

The green buttons that you double click to fill in information do not work. You have to know which forms to use. Also, one cannot fill in boxes by clicking the mouse, i.e. English, etc on T1.

If you have a very simple return this is good to use. However you have to search for some of the forms based on your own knowledge that there are more things you can claim on your own. Ex. Northern living allowance
Also it didn't bring forward my CCA from previous years as I thought it should.

Helpful, But Efficiency and Quality Issues
This was my first time using the software. It was helpful and more efficient than using paper - I used Forms version to mirror my experience with my CPA and CRA previously. I did, however, find some obvious inefficiencies and quality issues that seemed to have existed before that have not been addressed and should be to improve the experience. The most annoying was the treatment of T5008 capital gains when using the CRA download feature. I ended up with hundreds of individual T5008s representing the trades. No good clear answer from TT, but from the "community" responses I could piece together a workaround to avoid doublecounting downloaded individual T5008s vs simply entering the compiled T5008 provided in the mail and via my investment advisor's reporting. This issue should be much clearer and should be addressed by TT in conjunction with CRA if needed. Wasted a lot of time on it. Occasionally, I had other questions and issues that were difficult to search on the help tool. Some of the windows open in a small way and, for eg, the windows for worksheets could be more spacious. Finally, it would be good to have the ability to add lines to some of the forms automatically when adding investments, etc.
