Not sure it's so great anymore
It seemed ridiculous that I had to add all the information manually as I couldn't carry it forward from previous years - waste of my personal time.
Also, there was an error in an update that required me to uninstall and reinstall the program to receive it.
It past years I've been a raving fan ... just not sure anymore if it's worth it.

OverPriced
I make money on the side as a sole proprietor so I'm forced to buy the most expensive option of turbo tax despite having No deductions that come with a home business. Overall i love the ease of TurboTax but to pay twice as much cause i made a couple grand as a sole proprietor is frustrating.

Why two computers?
I have to file in the US and Canada. SURPRISE...you cannot install TurboTax US and TurboTax Canada on the same computer!!
Why can't Intuit/TurboTax write the software so that US citizens living abroad don't have to have a second computer?

Seems to contain a number of errors in calculations this year, and refused any attempts to overcome them resulting in my not being able to Netfile my return for the first time in many years.

Filing Husband and Wife Returns
I found the software very helpful. One suggestion I have is to add a "Review" process to help ensure that both the husband and wife returns have been submitted. CRA mentioned this is a common error when using tax software to file both returns together.

So So this year
I have used quick tax / turbo tax since the 90's.
This year they destroyed the help files and step
by step cannot be used one section at a time - even if you have already filled out most of the forms using the forms method. The program lacks good integration - unlike the USA version for American tax - which allows
users to use step by step /easy step one section at a time ( a huge time saver). I use both versions as my kids a dual citizens. TT 2015 only 3 stars ... lots of room for improvement... Put back all the help files and fix easy step. Not worth the price this year. Also fix charitable donations optimizer to actually change the info in the forms to the users choice - without having to do it manually ... TT 2015 is becoming a glorified spread sheet but not much more. Q

No open windows bar
Trying to find a schedule that I worked on was difficult. It would be helpful if there was an open window bar at the side or at the top that you could click on.
The data entry for donations, medical was poor and cumbersome. It would be good if it was all in a straight line with columns.

Only game in town for now
User interface doe snot meet windows standards, thus clumsy, unintuitive. Bugs continue to exist. Nags too often to buy other products and services. Too expensive, several versions and no clear way to know which to buy, seriously!

So, so
Accomplishes most of what one would expect and certainly saves some time. Explanations are not valid at times and at other times hard to understand. For self-employed ones, it could bring forward more information from year to year. Also, for those living in Northern area, we always have to check to be sure that that form is filled out. If we haven't moved why in the world would we need to verify that?

Income Tax
Turbo Tax is not intuitive or easy to use. Errors made by users are not easy to correct and Turbo Tax give no direction on how to delete or correct forms that are in error. One must be a programer to understand the instructions for use.

does all the adding for you
I used this for a small business that I have. It was ok. There were lots of things on my wifes return that I had to enter on the forms myself. I would recomend going online to the help section as it was very good for forms that did not show up on the interview. Overall I would say this was not worth the money

Caution
If you think Turbo Tax will easily enter all your tax issues related to small business, think again. It does not complete GST/HST credits unless you seek out the proper forms to fill out.

It seems like this software is a work in progress. It did not automatically determine the best refund and when I determined how to achieve the best refund, it continued to change it back to how it was. Not that impressed. I feel it should be simpler to do comparisons between spouses of who should claim deductions.

problems getting foreign tax credit with foreign b
TurboTax didn't work well for resident filers living and working in the US. In particular the foreign business income couldn't be entered on the foreign slip. Also foreign rental was put in the rental section. Put then when you try to enter the income onto the Foreign slip it adds the income again for my total income.. I just left it off the foreign slip so I didn't get the foreign tax credit on that income.

Disappointed
Don't like the Summary floating around separate from the forms. Don't like how the 'review' process has changed. Don't like that I get a message telling me printing a form (detailed summary) counts as another return on my limit.

Revised for the worse
Not as easy to use as previous years. It was harder to move between Easy step and the forms. If you needed to add a missing receipt the process was more cumbersome than in the past.

Don't assume
Don't assume that everything turbotax does for you is correct. Lots of vague information about how it processes the data. You should go back and look through the actual forms to see how it puts the info together and does the calculations.

Still has bugs that need fixing
I've been filing my own taxes now with TT for over 8 years. There is a recurring issue with jointly owned real estate rental income with my spuse that requires me to manually override data and input manually. Every year, TT automatically enters 100% of the rental income on my return, and nothing for my spouse. I then have to manually input all the rental income and expenses on her return. For an "easy-to-use" tax software, it's not that easy. Oh, and I also need to do this for jointly owned stocks and mutual funds, as TT does not allow me to recgonize my spouse as being joint owner.

How to make it easyier ...
For US stocks, it will be easier to have a second schedule 3, where you can enter values in US dollars and end result of capital losses and gains etc can be converted to Canadian dollar. now we have to separately convert each and every value for each stock sold etc to Canadian dollars. this is cumbersome. so fix it.
2- if you enter a date for some one who entered Canada in 2014, it asks to enter the date in a format, when we enter that in the step by step method, when we try to net file, it finds it wrong and asks to remove the year, when we remove the year, it asks to enter the year. this is a software bug. fix it.

I have used your product for the past five years for filing my taxes. I was pleased with using theses programs in the past. This year, using this program, I find it not as easy to use as previous years. I can't highlight the issue. I did not like the flow of the program. Also RRSP meter was missing this year in RRSP wizard.

becoming less useful
as this program becomes more complex (I assume due to tax law changes) it has become more difficult to find the answer to normal questions, An example is to override built in rates when it is better for me to use a lower rate, example depreciation, for long term tax/income balancing. the program does not like to be overridden.
