Poor Service
Turbo Tax 2017 handled entry of T5013 slips extremely poorly, double counted entries in relation to foreign income and capital gains. Little or no help and no fix or advisory received or sent by Intuit. Terminating their support for older operatoring systems such as Vista although lots of customers still operate on Vista, however support stopped under guise of security issue which is easily fixed. Intuit is all about money generation and less about a good product, suspect that they will now move to a subscriber type of access as opposed to owning CD or download in order to generate more revenue. Just overall fustrating experience

Bad year for Turbotax
I have used Turbotax for many years. This year, 4 assistance calls required. One telephone staff was most unhelpful. 3 were great, but also frustrated with the system. Same problems recurred a few times, needed to find work arounds, very frustrating to pay this much, and have a system that just doesn't work properly.

A lot of money for minor new features
It is beyond credibility for a product based on a mandatory tax reporting systems that changes very little each year (maybe some multipliers or rates) to have a new product charge every year. It is only out of convenience for auto entry that I even consider this bloatware. I would encourage users NOT to use the query screens but instead use direct entry into forms and prepare the paperwork carefully.

Not as good as it used to be
We've been using Turbo Tax for years. Lately we've been finding that it just doesn't do enough for us. For example, it doesn't provide an internal calculation to figure out your business use of home, requiring you to do the complex calculation yourself. It also asks 'did you work in ** tax year?", which is a misleading question because it really means "were you employed by someone else", as there's a separate section for self-employment. It also doesn't always fill in the Yes/No question boxes correctly. Next year we might skip Turbo Tax and go to an accountant instead.

Poor Help this year
Enjoyed the CRA download of T slips. and the uploading at the very end- very simple.
Didn't enjoy the non helpfulness of the help and find sections. It's annoying that they are even labelled because their help level is non existent.
In the past when this product had a different name it was very helpful and easy to get around between the forms and easy step. Now it is painful and a large waste of time.

unable to file electronically due to glitch in
After entering all my information. I was not able to Netfile to CRA due to a glitch in the software.
Now that defeats the whole purpose of spending money for the software. I may as well get the free paper copy from CRA via Canada Post locations and paper file; that way. At least, I would have saved my money.

very unintuitive
Have used many tax programs in the past. Some professional. Found Turbo Tax to be VERY cumbersome and unintuitive to maneuver through and monitor the return during preparation. I have a professional accounting designation. Disappointed. Use QuickBooks and like it. But not this one.

glitchy
the RRSP contribution section continues to be a struggle with having to override the boxes to get the software to accept the allowable contribution.
Also, in order to claim the spousal support paid, you have to indicate your spouse's income, or the software assumes they're your dependent. But really, how many separated/divorced spouses are sharing that information. If you pick separated or divorced, the software should assume that the spouse is NOT a dependent for tax purposes!

Click the Box!
The software is very simple and easy to use, but not very smart or intuitive. If you have Capital Loss to carry forward, be sure to ck the box in the profile interview, the software does not do it for you.
I imported previous year and had capital loss to carry forward to offset the capital gain. If I didn't ck the box for carry forward from previous year, I would have to pay 2k in taxes instead of 2k in refund....that is a big difference and very sad the software does not automatically see you have carry forward when the import is done. The data is there, it is just ignored unlesss you CLICK THE BOX!!

Painful Experience
While some of the intelligence built in is admirable and the pre-filling of the appropriate forms based on plain English is the expected benefit, the filling out of multiple line items for deductions is a huge timesuck, resulting in having to enter everything twice: once in Excel to organize/sequence, and then once in TurboTax. I'm specifically talking about Medical Expenses: you have to enter each one by one (using two clicks for each new form); are not able to sort by date; unable to change order they were listed in using drag-and-drop;unable to see relevant details in master list which in turn requires clicking and going into each one; to edit multiple entries, you must return to the master list after each item, which has no "memory" of where you were last...and no number listings in the master list to help remember.
People have come to expect spreadsheet-like functionality after having used Excel, Google Docs, Open Office, OfficeLibre, etc ... time to step up to the 21st century Intuit, especially with many free Opensource offerings offering similar functionality.

Stop with the upselling
It's bad enough having to do the taxes without being bombarded with upselling and fear-mongering.
I don't need to be told about the importance of having a will, flossing my teeth or lowering my cholesterol. I paid to use the software to do my taxes. If you want to continue with "in-app" advertising, then make the software free and make money from the advertising. Otherwise, stop showing me this nonsense as it just wastes my time. Find suckers to pay for the add-on services some other way.

Frustrating
For some reason every single year Intuit changes the layout. It is so annoying.
This year, the "Continue button is constantly out of sight. There's a whole lot of white space between the button and the information fields to fill out. On top of that the for some reason the fields etc are unnecessarily big which cause the horizontal scroll bar to appear.
I would like to see Intuit fix the layout once and for all and make the objects fit on the screen without the use of scroll bars.
Why do the "BacK" and "Continue" button have to be at the extreme left and extreme right?

Used to Like It
Have used QuickTax/TurboTax for years - always had faith in it and found it comprehensive. This year found a mistake in the "logic" which Intuit won"t fix for this year - means I can't use Netfile. Now I wonder how many other mistakes there are in it that I didn't catch?? And when I bought it so I could Netfile, and now I can't, why should I have bothered?

Doesn't work with unusual returns
While this works well for my small business, I used it to file the returns for my deceased father and elderly mother. It hard a hard time handling the pro-rating of their split pension income, and reported errors in declared investment income that would have prevented my mother's netfiling. I'm still not sure I minimised my mothers amount owing.

Why...
Does it keep asking me to enter the year I graduated everytime...? It was already entered as 2008, and I tried changing it to every other option but it wouldn't take.
Also, entering unused tuition is very confusing to understand. I had to look at the blue forms to understand what this program was asking for.
Also the "take me here" option is confusing and hard to guess where is the page I needed to return to in order to make corrections.
