Mostly good
Pretty straight forward except when pension income required splitting as the optimized chart used a value that was about $60 more than the best total owing number on the chart.

Turbo
After awhile I started to get to know the software and how to find my way around. Once I had all my T-Slips in order and verified that CRA also had them I was good to go.

Worth it for Peace of Mind
Great software alternative if finding a tax accountant is a struggle. If filing personal tax returns, TurboTax is easy and fast. Only took 20-30 minutes to file everything and they even recommended me a benefit to claim to get a better return!

Timely & Excellent telephone help
I found the software challenging but received excellent help via telephone and successfully filed my return. It was done much more quickly than filing a paper return which I had done in prior years. I learned a lot and will probably not need telephone help next year

2025 online edition was easy to use for all inputs except Medical Expenses. Many receipts are repetitive. You could help us by allowing user to input repeat items into your drop down menu i.e. Doctor's name, pharmacy paid to, etc.

Good Catch
In the middle of entering data the software froze. This was very frustrating. In a few minutes I was able to speak to a real person who quickly reset the software on my computer. She tested to make sure everything was running properly.

Still The Best - Secure
Have used for some years, finding it gets more complicated all the time. the high security, while comforting becomes confusing as more options to access become available (fingerprint, face recognition) and passwords are forgotten. Unless you update computing equipment regularly it becomes a chore for older folks.

Long time user
Being executor for a relative, I found it annoying that I was unable to use Turbo Tax to indicate that the taxpayer was deceased, and give the date of death.
Other than that, the product rocks.

Good but helpful info wrt T1135 is missing
Overall, the software is easy to use, but filling out the CRA T1135 "Foreign Asset Report" was problematic for a 1st timer. I would like to see definitions or explanations next to each of the fields associated with the form entries. I had to go to the CRA web site for the information. Maybe a future version of TurboTax will have a build in AI to help in that regard.

PENSION SPLITTING
The product should indicate where the pension splitting process will occur. I found it confusing when I was at the 'file your return'
and I hadn't completed the pension income splitting so I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do that...

too many ads
I love using TurboTax, but the 2025 edition pressed us to upgrade the service so many times I considered switching to a different software package. There were a couple of times I could not figure out how to go to the more basic option that I wanted to use. Very frustrating and a huge waiste of my time.

For the most part, easy and helpful to use. I do have times where it won't let me change or add new numbers. I have also had issues with netfile. I did a joint file for my spouse and I - It sent mine but my spouses somehow did not want to send right away I got an error message - later I was able to send. Keep trying. I have used for years.

Not what it used to be
I have used turbotax for quite a few years and have always been very satisfied. This year, however, I was unable to go back into the tax form to change certain items. The first time I used it this tax season, I was assured that I could make changes after I had paid but it went straight to payment to CRA and netfile. I split my income as both my wife and I are over 65 but the program did not allow this. I was frustrated and began a new attempt. The next day, it suddenly worked and instead of us owing money, we received ( according to the program) a substantial refund. Why did this happen? The first day, when I tried to amend my form, I got a message saying “ Something went wrong “
Something has changed. This is not the friendly program I was used to using. It seems to want payment before letting me adjust my tax information. Thankfully, it worked out the next day.

TurboTax no longer provides a contact phone number to discuss issues when using the program resulting in a lot of wasted time when program issues are found or questions come up. This appears to be intentional to try to force the use of experts at fees for simple issues.

Easy to use
A very easy to use software product that I have used for several years. I like the way it carries over my information from the previous year. My only criticism is that this year the software kept wanting me to add a T4 entry even though I am retired with no employment income. There was no way to indicate that I had no T4 slips.

From desktop to online
Doing taxes with the online version was easier than I anticipated. Online version doesn't look as complex as on the desktop. When searching for slips on the desktop a list of slips, etc shows up and you choose which you need; the on-line version you must enter the slip name into the search bar to find it.

Misleading Email Promo
Aside from the regular upselling which I have gotten used to, Intuit has a misleading if not outright false email advertising campaign for 40% off TT products if filed before March 15th. I filed on March 13th and did not get the full discount. If you can honour an offer, dont make it. Thats how you lose customer trust and customers.

Always a challenge
Online version is a challenge although getting easier. My wife died this year and it seems to change everything. I have no idea if her taxes have been included as part of mine. Some information at the outset from a spousal death would have helped. Should have "Other" options for - Life changes, Your relationship... Should be able to print before net filing.
