A few problems with Quebec return
Senior moving from house to apartment, Turbotax gets in a loop with Solidarity tax credit as it still has data from 2023 (municipal roll number) and can't add relevé 31 for 2024. How to remove earlier data? Or use both, 6 months in each location.
Also uses old address for Visa payment, but describes it as address on return. confusing

Joint File
I filed a joint return, with spouse having no income, and it still charged by for two returns. I did not want to have to go re-do the whole things so i jsut paid it, but i think the software whould be smart enough to see a 0 return and only charge for the one. Not impressed.

When joint filing it needs to be clearer whose Tax Return is being worked on - the current use of tabs was confusing.
Foreign income should clearly identify in which currency the income figure is displayed - e.g., GBP or Can $.

Premier Online Edition
Have been using the CD version of TurboTax for years! Very surprised to find there's no more CD version. Have to settle with the Online edition. Need a bit more time to explore the new screens & click through more questions etc. Would have been nice to keep the CD version for consumers to choose. May be it'll be easier next year?

Convienient but could be better
Been using TurboTax to file our returnes for 4 years now.
1. I am not sure why they got rid of the panel menu on the left but it's super annoying now, when you try to find a section you already went through, to make changes or add more info in a specific tab.
2. It's too expensive. Given I am doing all the work myself and using a simple return. There are now many other platforms who offer this service for free, so I think the price for a basic return needs to come down. I think $20 is more than enough, it should not cost me $70... and that is the discounted rate, yikes!
3. Overall, I like the feel of TurboTax. Also love that they have an app, so I can very easily access info on my phone if I ever need it for Income Verification purposes.

2024 TurboTax Version less user friendly
I have been using turbotax to file my taxes for at least the last 10 years. This newly updated version for the 2024 taxes is actually less user friendly that previous versions. I am not sure whose idea it was to revise the previous version but sometimes there's just no need to try fixing what isn't broken.

Frustrated with each time I tried to resume a specific return, each different time had trouble with finding the correct files and unable to find specific forms without going through the Q & A each time. I'm a fan of the old original navigation options and being able to switch between views - guided or self.

Too much marketing
I appreciate that things are calculated for me, but even so it is usually ten hours of work to figure out taxes for my husband and myself. Having said that, it is SUPREMELY annoying to be constantly interrupted by a pop-up attempting to persuade me to pay EVEN MORE for a so-called "professional' to review my entries. I've been calculating my own taxes since age 17, and learned to do so by studying the federal tax guide. Also, the THREAT of AUDIT, a scare tactic, is inappropriate. I've been audited multiple times for ridiculous things such as child tax credit, moving expenses, charitable donations amounts, etc. REALLY?? They think they can get an extra $1 out of me? Not likely on such a limited income. On one occasion, I discovered an error I made and they had to send an additional $150 refund. In any case, I have no fear of being audited. BRING IT ON!

The program is easy to follow and submit to CRA. It has improved significantly over the years. the only thing I don't care for is the constant solicitation to upgrade the program I am using.

Intuit Canadian Taxes 2023
I bought the product at Costco, because they had the best price.
All my data was entered, and since I used the similar product to do my 2022 taxes, The system provided me with the previous years data.
But, then near the end of the data entry, the system told me that I needed some 'forms' that were not part of this package, and the only way, I could proceed, would be to purchase an 'online' addition. This was almost THREE times the cost of the initial package.
I'll have to think hard for the next tax cycle, if I want to continue with the Intuit product.

Navigation challenges
It's hard to use the menu on the left column to find a specific area. There used to be "Schedule #s" of the Canadian Tax Return that I could use to "jump to". It's no longer available.

generally excellent
Once again it went mostly well. But this year I tried entering the new BC renter's tax credit. Then I realised I don't qualify and had a TERRIBLE HASSLE removing the amount I provisionally included. The EDIT button did not work. I tried ten times and was about to start the returns again when I tried a trick: falsely entered that I wanted to claim it and then deduced that amount as the field edit function wouldn't let me. A major stressor this year.

Super Product but Expensive
This has been the smoothest and least confusing tax filing yet. Sure was easy to complete the straightforward tax returns my wife and I file. However, I was put off by the change in pricing. Previously I could buy the software for $35-$40 (and sometimes less with discounts) and file a good number of returns for myself and my family members. Now it’s $40 per return! Now that’s an unwarranted price jump.

Well worth it .
I was reluctant to use the paid version of Turbo Tax, but then I ran into a snag . I begrudgingly sighed up for their regular price , and wow, did it ever make a difference in what I got back ! Will do this again and again .

Excellent Customer Service
Overall, the product was generally easy to use. Wherever we ran into questions or roadblocks, customer service was incredibly helpful. Friendly and not condescending at all. I felt very comfortable asking for help on the basic package. I would recommend easily.

Overcharged
I purchased at Costco the Deluxe Online version which has always worked for our circumstance in past except this year. Now requires Premium. If you are changing your inclusions at least credit the cost of Deluxe into the cost to get Premium. Very poor business practice to double charge. Not impressed.

Extra help
The software part of turbo tax worked well-no issues—however I had an issue with having received a relieve 1 from Quebec even though I live and work in Ontario. I asked the turbo tax agent how to handle this and after consultation internally, she said that she did not know what I should do.So I phoned CRA and got the answer. Soo— turbo tax agents need to be trained better.

Foreign currency not converted for capital gains
I have used turbo tax for a few years now and like it. This was the first year that I downloaded the information from CRA. I found that turbo tax did not convert US$ investment transactions to C$ to calculate capital gains, giving incorrect amounts. I had to manually convert/correct about a dozen transactions by hand. It would be good if Turbo Tax did this conversion as the currency type is reported in one of the boxes, at least for US$ transactions.

Overpaid on the Turbo software
I wouldn’t need the Premier program but I wasn’t able to continue. Turbotax locked me out to continue because I had a small Dutch pension. So did my husband.
