Improvements Needed
The program lacks some needed improvements:
- investment income cannot be split across the board between husband and wife. Each one has to be done individually.
- the change rate has to be put in for foreign income but the income has to be put in in Canadian dollars. This is confusing.
- comparing year over year is useful but if there appears to be a discrepancy, there is no easy way to dig down to find out what has led to that.

Should adjust basic tax package
I could complete our taxes with the basic/standard tax package except one simple T-slip (T-5008) is not included so we are forced to upgrade to more expensive premium version. RIP OFF!!!

Great, expensive product
I have been using this for many years, and have always used the deluxe version, even with capital gains. This year you are forced to pay more for the premier version. TOO EXPENSIVE.

Some issues
Program insisted I enter T4 and self-employment income data even though I said at the beginning that I had NO employment income. Other than that, worked fine.

Good software program
Every version comes with challenges but overall a dependable program for tax users. The initial tax returns takes some getting used to but one can go back and correct any missing information. I have used this program regularly for years.

Works well, but needed premier edition
I like Turbotax and it works well. Now that I sell some stocks now and again, Turbotax requires me to use their premier edition at a higher cost. I find this unreasonable, especially when they charge me premier edition costs for both me and my spouse when we file together even though I'm the only one with stocks. Makes no sense but I can't get them to change their minds so I pay the higher costs x2 every year.

2023 Review
Poor communication and direction. Inability to print a copy until paid and filed. Once NETFILED, not necessarily completely NETFILED if T1135 involved which requires a 2nd NETFILE which is not communicated as the 1st NETFILE is completed.

Disappointed with Turbotax
This year I found some flaws in Turbotax that made it difficult to complete my taxes. I found glitches in this year's version that created some frustration. I have used Turbotax for many years and still feel it is a great product for tax preparation.

Still a bit expensive
I think this product is still a bit expensive - I always have to go to premium for myself, and therefore have to pay for it twice - for myself and my husband.
Plus - I wish the HELP was more helpful !!! I am not going to pay extra to talk to a live person, and the "ask a question" is usually not helpful. I find the CRA site more useful when I have a question.

I find the cost expensive for a simple return. I have been using this product for years and have yet to receive a code for a discount. Is there a discount code - upon payment they always ask if you have one. Have never received one.

I gave this product 1 star for Value if this field refers to the fee charged. When I started preparing my returns the price was $40.00 per return and then around April 24 the price changed to $45.00. I was notified but I could not complete my returns until April 28. I don't think your company should be changing the fee prior to April 30, last day for filing.

Pension Splitting not easy to find
Overall this is an easy product to use. However, when I completed our forms there was no indication that our pension was split. There should be a spot to click which says SPLIT INCOME in the Tool Kit.

Another Year Done
Apart from a couple of anomalies, TT did the same as it does every year for the last 15 years.
It sure beats doing it by hand.
However, this year it was quite slow.
Josiah was great on my one call for clarifcation.
I cannot say the same for your robot gate keeper!!!!!!

TOO EXPENSIVE FOR2024
Turbotax was upselling too much this year to do my 2023 tax return and as a result I paid a lot more to do my taxes online.
And yes I tried SEVERAL TIMES to revert back to the basic package of $20 but it kept telling me that based on my deductions and tax slips that I had, it had no choice but to bump me up to the Premier pkg which was way too expensive!!
Furthermore I am currently unemployed and this was too expensive this year. I might explore other tax software programs or use the free CRA toolkit instead in 2025, although I love Turbotax, truthfully.
Sad but true?!

A Little Frustrating This Year
Have been using TurboTax and previous incarnation of Quick Tax for 20+ years. Have always been greatly pleased with how it worked, but found this year the program seemed buggy in that I kept finding boxes ticked that had no relevance for me. Would untick and save, but then they would show up again. e.g. Clergy Income ticked off yet never been clergy. Also was confused by Canada Employment Amount deduction as I am retired. I eventually figured it out, but think the pop up info for that could have been more clear i.e. also relevant to T4A & T4PS income. Would have saved me time.

Good - but
Fairly easy to use for straight forward entries but I did not couple my return with that of my spouse and there was no direct way of inputting the transferred amount of my split-pension to my spouse. It was OK for me the transferor but there was no way to input the transferred amount to my spouses return. Took a Level 2 support person to navigate through an obscure path (rental income) to open up an screen to be able to input the transferred amounts for the split-pension. Took about an hour with support to get there.

EASY BUT NOT FOOLPROOF
After trouble logging into a competitors website that I had used for over a decade, I was pleased that TurboTax made the transition easy. Most forms were downloaded automatically, and the navigation was relatively easy.
That said, I did miss the exposure to the actual tax forms that are being filled out (which my previous product offered), and found the separation from that made it hard to know if everything required was present and accounted for (and just understanding how the values are entered and calculated).
As it turned out, the download from the CRA did NOT get everything, and TurboTax downloaded a duplicate of one of the forms - so you can't blindly click NEXT and assume it is all well.
The price was significantly more than the competitor that I usually use (over twice), and Intuit keeps trying to upsell which I found distracting and irritating. It also seemed to repeat screens unnecessarily. TurboTax offers lots of bells and whistles, and is easy to use, but I have to admit I miss the raw data that the other product offered.
