misleading
I did this year's taxes through Turbotax. I have used UFile other years because it is free. I forgot about that and ended up paying Turbotax $40.00 each for 2 files. Seniors can't afford this.

another year
although it appeared repetitive at times, the flow through was pretty easy to follow and having a CRA access & all of the T-forms handy makes it go smoothly

Efficient, but expensive
The per return fees on a self-service basis jump to almost double upon indicating you have sold stocks/bonds (which is not that complicated). And any accompanying return is also charged the same amount despite the return being simple.

Helpful but cumbersome. . . and pricey!
I do appreciate the automatic calculations for pension splitting and recommendations for who should claim medical expenses, charitable donations, and so on. However, I heartily dislike being constantly asked to 'upgrade' - extra time wasted having to click through all that. Rhe topic change pages are another waste of time. Furthermore, I have NO FEAR of being audited - it's happened multiple times over the years. Annoying and time consuming, but so far the only change was when they had to send me an extra $150 after I discovered an error while recalculating for the audit.

Works pretty well
Actual return differed from turbo tax due to retro cpp payment process done by. At that turbo tax did not pick up
But generally satisfied with user interfaces

I have low income, shouldn't have to pay
I miss being able to see the 'form view'. I don't find that it's easy to go back to where you left off. The first time I started this years I didn't find a 'save as' or a log out. Our income is low; I miss the 'free version' you had.

Printing off work documents.
Wish that the headers wold not overprint on documents being worked on.
Would be great to see the whole return as it is going together with data being input. Make it more like a paper copy you can look and see the progress of your return.

I find the detail on some of the forms confusing. As I use the FTC functions quie a bit I am dismayed by the lack of infoi the T2209 files. It would help to be able to see this form.

Unnecessary upgrade
Other than most basic T slips required upgrade to premium version without any real necessity, just a cash grab (doubled cost) by Turbo Tax to enter a few Investment T slips

Watch what they charge
We started our taxes before the April 1 price increase but still had to pay the new price. Very disappointed because we received a message on the screen - but not in an email - so we lost the old price.
The call center did call us back as promised but that wasted 20 minutes to go nowhere.
We feel tricked about the price and offers - and there is no place to go but to pay it and look for other software for next year.

OK but not great
Always get an error logging in when connecting with CRA to download T slips and NOA. Some things, such as the Tax-Saving Opportunities/warnings/errors section are confusing. Manages to get my taxes done and filed every year though.

Il y a environ 12 ans, peut-être plus que j'utilise votre produit. Je retourne année après année depuis que j'ai commencé. La seule chose qui m'irrite c'est que je ne peux pas produire ma déclaration en français parce TurboTax ne veut pas admettre qu'il y a des francophones en dehors de la province de Québec. Si je veux compléter ma déclaration en français, le logiciel considère automatiquement qu'il s'agit d'un Québéquois et ça ne s'applique pas pour moi qui suis de l'Ontario. Je suis fier Ontarien et j'aimerais pouvoir travailler en français.

Comprehensive Tax SW with some glitches
The software is easy to use. There are useful optimization tools. However, if you have large number of T5008 items (> 200), there is problem saving them. The whole CRA download failed.

Forced into More Expensive Version
After 20+ years of being a Turbotax/Quicktax customer I bolted to a different provider last year because I was forced into a pricier version to enter T3 and T5 info. Now, I've reluctantly returned because you've colluded with the other provider so both force the pricier version. Looks a lot like gouging customers from my perspective.

smooth until the end
Simple & easy to use until it came time to pay. Last year paid with interact, no problem. This year, could not find a CRA address to pay to and could not add PaySimple to my list of contacts without the PaySimple phone #, which they did not provide. Very frustrating process!

Excellent product for basic tax returns
Easy, step-by-step instructions.
The one thing I almost overlooked for my T5008 is I almost forget to enter the book value field. There is nothing to highlight this and if it had been left null, I would have paid a lot more income tax.

Software error

2018 Back Taxes
Had to do my 2018 taxes due to being a non-resident. Easy enough to do. Navigation was easier to see with options on the left. Help was just as abysmal. I got asked if I wanted to import my 2017 data, but it never gave me the option to do it anywhere. They got rid of the full tax form view which made it difficult to figure out what field I was entering, and to find a particular one indicated by CRA.

dependant income
The part where they ask about the dependant income is confussing, minors are not obligated to file taxes under certain amount, but you guys ask "is the dependant income zero/", and if you answer NO, then you ask for information from row numbers on T1, a T1 that is no needed
