Cost
Works well, but price is significantly than last year. Also, would prefer to download software to do the return rather than having to login for every session. May consider other software next year because of cost.

Clunky

Worth the Money
While there are a few places where missteps are possible, for the most part this software is made for dummies.
The requirement of each co-owner of rental property submitting the total rental income (not their percentage) should be stated upfront not in a 'explanation link'. I remember having to check this each year. I know that the software calculates the indicated percentage of the total to be assigned to each co-owner, but I usually forget that this is the case until I do my own calculation and then find out that I should have used the total for each person in the first place.

Useful but a little frustrating
Overall a very good product. However, I found at times that it was rather inflexible in the order in which I wanted to enter information, and when trying to check and review information it was sometimes difficult to find the specific data I was looking for.

Reduces the drudgery
You still have to wrangle with receipts, but connecting with CRA eliminates fumbling with the T slips. One thing I would like to see is when you reference a line number, it would be good to be able to go to that line.

Great as long as price does not increase
I love using Turbotax - it allows me to find all possible deductions in our family's complex tax situation. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that the price I paid for Premier has gone up 63% over the past two years.

Beware of the version used
I started our returns using the Standard package, somehow it got switched to the Premier version. Found this out at the check out step, can't go back. Paying more for essentially for the same program.

Good but room for improvement
Interface still a little clunky at times. Warnings navigation sometimes does not work and unselecting an option should automatically delete the associated data instead of asking the user to remove manually.

Very helpful software
Very helpful software for taxes. Easy to follow and enter information. Complete access to the calculations could be made a little easier - but really only for users who want this information.

2019 taxes
This year's package worked really well. I'm older and not super tech friendly so I did have difficulty getting the medical deductions started, but once I got into it , it was really easy.

Incomplete CRA data
While TurboTax has a good feature in that CRA data is accessed for T-slips, etc., it doesn't obtain the actual assessed return bottom line information from the previous year. That is, CRA sometimes adjusts what I netfiled & then the year-over-year comparison results in incorrect summary figures.

NEEDS SOME WORK
One of the first screens asks you if you want to autoload information from the previous year.
You actually have to click "NO" or otherwise it keeps wanting you to set up an account.
The info will autoload later (if you did the internet version of TurboTax)

Clarify income solitting
Getting to the end of the return it showed my wife's income to be significantly higher than it was. I rechecked all the T forms and they were correct, I eventually tracked it down to be due to income splitting. While it increased her income it did not show mine to be decreased by the same amount or say anywhere clearly why hers had increased. It cost me a lot of time to figure it out, making it more clear would be an improvement I think.

Simple and fast
Simple to use, speedy filing with CCRA. Only annoying bit: there was nothing to enable me to use my employment affiliation in order to receive the advertised discount I should get as a pensioned employee.

Good Product
Good product to use for doing your taxes. Easy to use and only issue is there needs to be a glossary of some of the terms, like communal income, not sure what that is. Otherwise all good.

Room To Improve
Its a good service and has great information, however when it comes to upselling its a little overboard with the audit protection, ID Theft, and Expert Review. If I say no once I would not expect the option to keep coming back on.
As far as the Tax Warnings each year they come up and are very much not applicable in the least to my situation this is quite annoying and almost seems like a scare tactic to have someone pay into the Audit protection or the Expert Review.

Good tax program
This is a good tax program. I do wish, however, that I could easily see the return as it would appear as a paper copy. I'm used to being able to click on the various lines of the return to enter and check information.

Dropped Ball
I had finished my tax returns for myself and my wife...or so I thought. I had completed every step EXCEPT sending our returns to the CRA. After 6 months, I just realized/learned that I never filed my income tax returns to the CRA. Now I owe a late penalty fee to the CRA.
I have no idea how I managed not to submit our claims, and the bulk of the onus is on me. But if I had done every step, except submission to the CRA, it would be nice to get a follow up email from TurboTax, say after 3 days or so to remind me of what stage of filing my income tax I am in, to see if I want to continue with the process, or if I have already submitted in another method.

Easy
Turbotax is very user friendly. It was helpful most of last years information was populated to this years tax forms. Paying tax owing was a bit confusing; I am not sure of the issue lay with Turbotax or CRA. Other than payment, filing was made simple.
