RRSP function difficult to navigate.
Overall, the product was very good. However, it was very difficult to input information on RRPS homebuyers plan. Suggest that greater direction be provided by paypal on how to do this. Also, the help function was not helpful. I had to pay additional money to access the help function, when I had already upgraded the product.

Rental Income
TT worked well, other than the rental income section. I have several properties and am in an out of this section a lot. It would be very beneficial if there was a way to jump directly to the CCA for each property, or each expense, rather than having to go hit continue 12 times in a row.

This is a fantastic interface and service... but there are a few instances where more detailed help could be better. Example - What if you are moving over 40km closer to the same job? It doesn't appear after more than three hours scanning multiple Q&A's that one can claim moving expenses... SAD! So if your taxes are simple, stick with standard and filing is a breeze.

Good - It Works
I have used TurboTax and its predecessor from Intuit for over 10 years. It has been good about setting up child-related deductions that I was previously unaware of.
One issue I had was that when entering T3 info into a screen it would make distinctively-different boxes with the same for things like Income, even though the actual T3 form didn't specify if it was Interest Income or some other form of income.
I think that next year I will try out the Auto Fill feature. The CRA will have most or all of the T4, T4A, T5, etc. info sent in to it by the employer, bank, etc. There should be no need to actually enter all of that information manually.

Good Product

It would be easier to use if you could click on the forms to get information rather than to have to search help! Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought you used to be able to click on the forms to have it explained?

I found it hard to find where to click to sign out. You have to move your mouse over to the left hand side of the screen until a scroll bar appears, and then you have to scroll down to the last entry which is Sign Out.
There is no place to enter the details of your medical expenses, in case you want to look them up later.

Tuition transfer

Good, but workflow issues
I love the integration that TurboTax offers with other Intuit products. The warnings/review worked as expected and were comparable to other tax software I've previously used. However, I find it cumbersome to go back and work on specific sections of a ta return. One has to normally start at the very beginning of each section, answering again various questions, before arriving at the section one is looking for. The Search function also leaves much to be desired. Most of the terms I needed to look for were not found.

One Issue
It worked great. The only issue is that it didn't tell me that I couldn't e-file a family return, but encouraged me to file as a family at the start of the process.

One of the best but needs improvement
Easy to use and has all forms. Help available on forms.
Common forms are well designed and easy to follow.
Uncommon forms like T1135 are not easy to use. Printed PDF did not print all lines of T1135

Could be better
Easy to use and makes tax simple in most cases. Does not always provide an explanation of what the particular items you are supposed to address mean. Help box is sometimes good but often leaves you relying on answers from other users who may or may not know the correct procedure. Some questions just come up blank. Turbo tax should provide credible answers.

I like it
From my experience, it is completely reliable and keeps up with changes at the CRA. For example, I like that I can load the data from information slips (e.g. t3, t5) from the cra instead of entering the numbers myself. You have to be careful, though. While the cra provides the proceeds of sales, it doesn't know the book values, and leaves them set at 0. As far as I know, you have to remember to go in and make the appropriate edits to get the non-zero book values entered. Of course you would have to do that normally but it might be easy to forget the way things work now.

Some missing information
Note that when entering foreign income from your T5 slip, you have to convert it to CAD yourself.
Also, there are a few areas that are not well written or explained in the process.
I had to do quite a bit of searching online through various websites to get the right answers. For example, TurboTax stipulates that you have to live on reserves to apply for OEPT, but you don't.

There is a screen for Capital Gains. There should be a statement that if capital gains are reported on a T5008, do not duplicate those transaction in the Capital Gains section.

Good but often frustrating
For basic returns the program is user friendly and intuitive. However, I had a condo sale this year and needed to fill out form T776 in order for CRA to allow me to Efile. After 2 hours on the phone waiting for and eventually speaking to the help dept., they were unable to get me to form T776. So I had to print and snail mail my return.... kind of defeats the purpose of an on line tax program. I paid extra for the premium package, but it did not help me solve this problem. Perhaps a real accountant is in order next year....

Worst experience ever
I have been using Turbo Tax ever since it was Cantax - but this is the first time using the online version - and I never will use it again. When I had one of my many problems, and then had to call in, even the employee said that he hated it also. So next year, back to the CD - I am a loyal user but just not for the online version.
