Ridiculous
Functionality of Turbotax gets worse every year that I've filed.
Beyond that, people shouldn't have to pay a private company in order to easily file their taxes. I wonder how much money Intuit spends lobbying to make sure they can keep this revenue stream, and how much more efficient it could be if nationalized...

Use age of product
This year with the changes to the program it makes it harder to do taxes. I would suggest to go back to the old way. It is much easier to work with.

Ads and Upgrades
Purchased a Intuit turbotax Deluxe Income Tax package at a store, on the cover seemed to meet my needs. When starting entering the RRSP/LSVCC info. It needed to upgrade to Premier to proceed. At checkout the Activation Code (for the purchased tax package) was not accepted (showed invalid) at the checkout despite trying it numerous times. Every second or third page seemed like an advertisement or upsell. Frustrating when you already paid for a product that you can't use, just to get more spam all the way to the end and still have to pay out of pocket to netfile.

Failed expectations
you failed to identify the social benefits repayment on my return. Therefore the return is not correct and the $45 fee has been paid. What are my options to have this corrected?

2023 Taxes
We have used Turbo Tax for several years and were happy with the product until completing our 2023 taxes.
My 2023 taxes - Turbo Tax transferred my 2022 tax information. After completing Turbotax we found that our OAS income was added in the other category. I called customer service and a correction was made.
My wife's 2023 taxes - Turbo Tax was unable to transfer her 2022 tax information. She then input her 2023 tax information and filed her taxes. Subsequently CRA contacted my wife about a double entry for her OAS figures. She replied to CRA with supporting documentation. No adjustment/changes were made by CRA.
How to we proceed forward with making the changes to the double entry of OAS income?
We completed a review a while ago and did not receive a reply

Delay in filing
I paid and received an email a full month before the filing deadline, then AFTER the deadline received an email from turbotax saying that I filed. What gives? Did I file or not? Still unclear.

Didn't Like It
I didn't like being asked if I wanted an"expert" to help me with my taxes, every 5 seconds. I didn't like using an online version, prefer having package on my own computer. And the price per return is ridiculous. I'm looking at getting another product next year:

Far too expensive for a normal tax app. Wealthsimple gives same offering for FREE. Bottom line results were the same.

Not Ideal
I have used Turbo Tax since it first appeared and it usually went well. However of late it has become more difficult and expensive requiring new levels of service. The last two years have been in error despite using the premium service. One year I was required to pay extra per CRA not identified in Turbo Tax. The next year I paid extra taxes per the program surprisingly CRA gave it back plus the same amount more! The Turbo Tax program appears relatively easy to use but these discrepancies with CRA are a problem.

Wrong every time
I wanted to let you know that your program is very easy to use but you have not gotten the right amount owed at all for each year that I have used your program. And you had every receipt that the CRA had. So I can’t figure out why your calculations are so wrong. I thought if there was a mistake, that my fee would be refunded but one can’t even reach you to discuss it. Not happy.

E-file didn't work
My wife and I filled out joint tax returns using Turbotax and followed the procedure for e-filing. But apparently CRA never received them. Two different reps at Turbotax assured me that the returns were sent and to just wait. But we never did get confirmation from CRA. So I ended up printing them and postal mailing them in. I got confirmation on the paper returns and they are now being processed. CRA says our refund (not an insignificant amount) will be processed on June 3. That's almost two months after trying to e-file. We've used Turbotax for quite a few years now and are not new to e-filing. I gave it 2 stars only because filling out was relatively straight forward, but no more. Very disappointed.

Need more options
Each time I have used this. I have been reassessed and did not know since I have paperless and I would have to owe the government because I wasn’t able to put in detailed information and deductions option when you add deductibles to add receipts.

Sadly Disappointed
I have used TurboTax for years and was very happy with it until now. My union dues do not appear on my T4 so I have to enter it in Line 40. Not a problem before this year. TurboTax only allows me to enter it if I upgrade to Deluxe. I upgrade to Deluxe. Then I have to enter my T5 to report my bank interest. Now I have to upgrade to Premier. I spent $80 on upgrades so I can report my interest. Not impressed. This year I feel that I have been nickeled and dimed to death. Highly do not recommend this product. You should not have to upgrade to the highest level to do a basic tax return. Just my opinion.

Extortion
My taxes are simple. I have been using TT for years out of convenience
(ever since it was free as standard tax returns should be), but honestly if manual tax forms were still easily to find I would just do them myself. This year I had an RRSP slip for a negligible amount. The software automatically accessed and input the info, just like all the other slips, then suddenly turned around at the last step and forced me to upgrade to Premium because there was "securities slip" involved. My break even tax return now cost me money and there's no way around it. I've since became aware of Intuit's lobbying, and now will never use them again. The software works fine, mostly, but I 100% felt scammed in that moment and won't be back. TurboTax Premium is NOT a service I would recommend unless you have lots to collate and little in the way of time.

Cost/benefit for seniors is not good
$80 + tax for 2 very basic low income seniors is definitely too much. Can’t use the cheaper one because they said the little investment we have is not included in the basic package. Sorry but this is usery.

Lacks transparency
Very difficult to track where summary amounts are coming from. I zeroed out all income yet the final summary showed an amount of 17,000 of pension income.

how does it get worse?
I love using turbotax. I love the ease of use. I love the cloud version that I use with my Mac. why can intuit not provide a line search within the too? seriously, the "find" was useless. and provincial taxes don't even have the line numbers on their summary? come on. easy to fix. easy to search. brutal that people have to resort to online searches to determine what the sum of lines 58120 to 58400 actually indicate. fix it. not sure I will be back next year and I have been a client for many, many years. it is just too frustrating to use to solve such a simple product.

Very disappointed
I hadn't done my taxes since 2019 and so I decided to use TurboTax to file my taxes from 2019 - 2023. It had always been a smooth process in the past, however, something has changed for the worst. It seemed much more complex even though I was filing simple taxes using my T4, T4A, and T5 slips as I had in the past. I wasn't able to go back and change my partner's information. I asked the Chat Bot, but they could not provide information on how to do this. I finally googled this question only to find that I couldn't change this info and had to file a new return and incur a cost to do so. Every time I asked a question I was told to speak to an expert at a cost of $110. Seems that Turbo Tax is now trying to upsell everyone. A cash grab if you ask me.

Not enough value for money
My taxes have a T4, an HBP repayment and corporate shares sold with NO capital gains. My wife has a T4, nothing else. I should have paid for Deluxe, she should not have paid at all. We were both forced to pay for Premium. Looking elsewhere for next year.

A rip off
paid for deluxe. Had simple returns. TT would not let me file till I paid $45 more per return for premier. So you are a hostage. Meanwhile I can go online and get premier for $36-38. A ripoff.

Unclear Version Limitations
It has alweays been good up until now for the 2023 Tax. Something so simple as a T5 for Interest income from a Savings Account forces an upgrade (at least $20/return). I got conflicting answers from TurboTax Admins in the community help and could not get clear answers about what each package would cover or which one I needed so I ended up buying a more expensive one in the hopes that it would cover what I needed.

Do not recommend
An error message regarding my province of self-employment is different from your providence of residence. TTO does not support multijurisdictional returns kept appearing and I could not clear it. I am NOT self employed and my file did NOT have this information in it. Had to print and file my return the old way as this error was preventing netfile.

Program NOT USER FRIENDLY FOR RURAL ALBERTA ADDRESS entries; that needs to be fixed for next year.
For medical expenses there is no way to list the private paid premium separately and it only comes up as a medical expense in the summary. That needs to be fixed.
I find this program too simplified and does not allow me to move between the program and tax lines. Very frustrating. It's not even easy to move around within the program. Last year I used the disc and found that program far better. Not sure that I will be using Turbo Tax next year.

Value going down every year
They keep making the product more and more expensive, and it is sad to see that some of the most basic features have been moved from the deluxe to the premier edition, so most people will now be forced to purchase the more expensive premier edition.
I was in a time crunch this year and did not have the time to explore competitors. I have been with Turbo Tax for 10+ years, but I will be looking elsewhere next year.
