I've been a loyal user of TurboTax for over 30 years, since it was called Quick Tax but this is it. I will never use them again. I used to work in IT prior to retirement and have been asking for years for them to develop a MAC version - why ignore half your client base? Since they never developed a product for MAC, I used to keep an old PC just for doing taxes once a year but now they're no longer supporting previous Windows versions. I did my taxes online this year and there were two issues. Firstly, the online version is not as intuitive. It took longer. Secondly and more importantly, I felt extremely uncomfortable using the online program. If the CRA can be hacked, as it has been, so can INTUIT. I'm going to spend the next year researching other options. I will not use this online software again.

Was asking customer service why I was charged extra, and he got impatient when I persisted and hung up on me. I was charged extra due to being "self employed" because of a T5 slip, which is all investment income.

For the first time in about 20 years, Turbotax says we need the Premier version to file a T4PS rather than using the Deluxe version. On top of using two of the 8 returns included on the Deluxe edition we purchased (like we always do), they charged an additional $100 to file the return. Why the change for a simple filing? How did you inform clients? Ridiculous. I think it's time to go to UFile or Wealthsimple going forward.

I have been a user of TurboTax Online for many years. This year I purchased an activation code for TurboTax Deluxe Online, as I have for the past several years. However, this year Deluxe no longer supports investment income (T5008 in Canada) as it did in the past. TurboTax indicated that I had to upgrade to Premier. I googled this situation and I was ensured that because I already had Deluxe, I would only need to pay the difference to upgrade to Premier. Given that I had already entered all my information, I thought, whatever, it was really crappy that they no long support investment income in Deluxe as they had in the past, but I will just pay the difference to upgrade to Premier and move on with my life. However, they also decided to further screw over their customers by not crediting the Deluxe purchase towards the Premier purchase and instead make you pay the full amount for Premier. So, I purchased and entered the activation code for Deluxe, but apparently that is entirely wasted money. Congratulations to TurboTax management for the successful enshitification of this product, and loosing a long time customer.

Help line tried to help. Friendly. Seems each year we have difficulty with the program. Fairly simple return. Would not let us split interest earned on joint account. First year to split pension income. Surprise this worked. Had an error that help desk could not figure out. Tech department could not resolve. Removed the joint interest. So one of us could net file the other one could not. All forms were downloaded from the CRA.

It's inexcusable that in the year 2026, TurboTax is unable to import a T5013 and complete most of the fields itself. I use TurboTax in the USA, and the Canadian product is inferior in every way.

The tax filing itself worked, but I was frustrated by the checkout experience. A Premium Bundle was added in a way that was confusing and difficult to remove. It felt like I was being pushed into paying for services I did not intentionally choose. Pricing and optional add-ons should be clearer, easier to decline, and simpler to remove before payment. Customers deserve a transparent checkout process.

Absolutely brutal, if you hit a wrong button on the many, many TurboTax upsell interruptions while doing your taxes there is no way to downgrade. You must start a new return and repeat all your work just to get rid of the "expert review & help" that you didn't want in the first place.

Have been using Turbotax for many tears (Over 10 years). Over the years it has become clunky and it is difficult to find some critical areas. If you have capital gains and want to apply capital losses carried forward from previous years...find another Software!

It's brutal that you are charged $80 to do your returns because you need a piece of paper/form with an amount of less than $10 in order to complete your taxes. Ridiculous!!

Unbelievable how you trick people to start a return with the assist version and force people to downgrade to the cheaper version - and by doing so starting over the entire return from scratch. I started using turbotax because it was easy, and helped guide me through the process. Now the help doesn't work, links to CRA resources don't work, the import from CRA doesn't work, I cannot reduce to a lower level product easily, and I am left wondering why I am still paying for a product that I could instead get a professional to help me run through this quickly for a similar amount. The new "help AI" does not provide any help. It is quicker and easier to open google, search a term, and find it on the CRA website instead of through turbotax directly. Multiple times I had to search up credits to understand if I qualify because of poorly written prompts and a lack of help in the help page.

It’s really easy on a mobile device to accidentally click for expert advice and through a phone call they were unable to remove, the only way to do so was to start my file all over again, and I was done.
Feels like an easy scam to get you to just pay for it cause it’s not worth the time to start all over.
Really would expect better.

Every year turbo tax changes . Last year I could use delux not premium for the exact same tax info. Last year my wife could file for free and this year she had to pay for again the exact same tax info. I was suppose to get 25 % savings but it did not work out to that.

I've been using TT for about 10 years now and this year has been the worse. The website has been flakey, locking up in the middle of entering my data and preventing me from continuing. Only fix seems to be closing the browser and signing back in to reload and reenter the information again. I've have to sign in many times this year. I'm going to look for a better product for next year.

I find TT overpriced, unclear and very difficult to obtain customer support. I have used TT for 15 years and will switch to another provider for 2025 tax year.

So hard to navigate, the 'warnings' only tell you what they are but don't take you to where you need to review or fix it, so hard to figure out on your own and always try and upsell you. Honestly - just pay someone to do it, not worth the hassle or stress of ending up guessing if you're doing it right or if you will end up in federal prison for tax fraud.

I have used this service for many years but will no longer. After completing my taxes and paying for the standard, I clicked on a warning and as a result I could not file without upgrading to premium. I had already paid for standard but could not continue to file my taxes which I had already done without paying more although there was nothing in my taxes to warrant needed the premium service.. Did some research and this is a known problem. Contacted customer service and provided info requested and I was never contacted to rectify it. I need to file my taxes so I had no choice to pay the extra. Very poor customer service

I purchased deluxe and when filing it had locked me into paying for premium. No help was available. I went through online faq and help and none of the screens looked the same that I could copy or make work. Really frustrated to pay and extra $100 when I already paid for deluxe. Ridiculous! Same thing happened last year as well. And no refund was provided!

the whole process was very unclear and turnsnout I didn't submitted till july I just finished all the forms?????? not cool very annoying it did not tell me that I had moresteps to complete

Forces one to purchase upgrade products only for forms not available in free products, yet advertises as free. Even after uploading/entering required forms, there was no real benefit.

If you realize you don't need a better version or decided against add ons later you have to start over. It is not possible to downgrade your product selection once you have started. You will be asked several times if you want to add features, and the button placement to accept or reject these varies, which I find deceptive. Be prepared for a lot of upselling.
