Unnecessary Upgrades
I have been using TT to file tax returns for my wife and I for more than a decade and this year, for the first time ever, I have been forced to upgrade from Deluxe to Premier. I believe this was unnecessary because our tax profile/situation has not changed in at least five years. I went over every answer I entered to try to find and correct which entry might have mistakenly triggered the upgrade and was unable to determine what caused it. There is no transparency as there are no warning that a particular answer would require aditional forms that are not included in the version you are using. Unless I find/receive an explanation for thids forced upgrade I will have to use a different product.

You can also use TurboTax Online with a Mac computer but TurboTax Desktop cannot be used on a Mac computer. If you are transitioning from TurboTax Desktop, your data can easily be transferred to TurboTax Online, and all your data is carried forward into your new return. Forced Upgrade to Premier
I've used the Deluxe Online version for years, but this year was forced to upgrade to Premier simply because there were some capital gains reported on a T-slip. Complete rip-off!

Horrible this year
I have been using Turbo tax for 10yrs and this new locked fields is annoying and so cheap on behalf of Turbo tax. I will definitely look for other products in the market next year

After 15 years, will never use again!
I've used TurboTax for the past 15 years - but after this year's "bait & switch" forcing me into Premium at $50 more for the sake of one T3 slip, I will never use it again. At that rate, I will pay someone to complete my taxes.

U.S. Social Security Unfriendly Application
TurboTax does not properly address U.S. Social Security income. There's a Tax Treaty in place that EXCLUDES 15% of that income. Yet, TurboTax IGNORES that Tax Treaty, instead including a full 100% of U.S. Social Security as income. That's a MASSIVE failure which demands immediate correction (and quite possibly a Class Action lawsuit)!

What a rip off!
I have one T3 with 3 numbers on it and I had to pay $15.00 extra for TurboTax Premier!!! I bought the Deluxe Online Edition software because I usually do two returns and I couldn't even apply it to my purchase at checkout. I have been using Turbotax software for years and my tax situation has not changed but this year they just decide to charge more for people with investments!! So ridiculous!!!

$20 extra charge!
I have used TurboTax for over 10 years and loved it. However, this year it requires us to upgrade to Premier just to enter our interest incomes from foreign bank accounts. This feature used to be included in Deluxe. We are not happy about the $20 extra charge for our 2 returns. We are sure many Canadians are also affected by this change. Please bring this feature back to Deluxe!!!

Not happy with Turbotax Premier
Not a complicated return, I'm an 82 year old senior (low income fixed income) and Turbotax wouldn't file my simple return for free. Had to pay.
No phone number to call, either, to ask what to do. Not helpful, was free last year, no complications---WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT CHANGED? Had I known, I would have done them by hand and saved myself the money.

I despise TurboTax
I have T4PS slips. In prior years I was able to enter and complete a tax return using the online version and usually pre-purchase an activation code at Costco. For 2021 I was forced by Intuit to upgrade to premium and pay an extra cost for completing a return with T4PS slips without any notice in the product information before hand that I would have to buy the premium version. This was a hidden cost I did not anticipate due to misleading or incomplete information on the packaging. Also I dislike all of the pop up advertising for audit support and additional services and products I do not need. I'm more than capable of doing my taxes without the help of a so-called "tax professional" and with dealing with CRA myself.

rip off
my circumstances have changed this year and I was not needing to use the premier edition. turbo tax would not let me down grade to the cheaper edition, even though I restarted another session and re did my taxes.

Not happy about change to T4PS standard
I've been happily using Turbo Tax since 2010, but this year they changed it so you're forced to upgrade to the premier version in order to submit your file if it includes a T4PS slip. I'll be looking elsewhere for my tax-prep needs if it isn't reverted to the previous standard for next year.

NOT FREE TAX RETURN
FREE TAX RETURN WHAT A RIPOFF!!
It starts off free but all I had was one T3 and apparently that bumps it up to a more complicated version. I have used Turbo tax for years first buying the discs and then using their free version. this year it cost me 140.00 for 3 returns that are not that complicated. never again!!

Simple University Return Did not allow netfile
It could not handle a scholarship information thinking that there was self employment. So after fighting it for an afternoon could not netfile and will probably trade emails with CRA for months to come. Very disappointed. Last year it handled this.

Worse value every year
They prompt you for a different upgrade every 2 seconds. Forced me to double my payment for myself and my wife's return because only I had a T4PS. I couldn't finish my taxes without it and I've had a T4PS for over 10 years without having to upgrade. Also has endless errors connecting to your account within the CRA's website.

Buggy and support sucks - forced upsell NOT cool
Turbo tax incorrectly identified I needed self employed version rather than the cheaper premium version (for investments).
Support was unable to help:
1st call hung up
2nd call "Lots of people have that problem, nothing I can do, you must pay for stated version to continue"
3rd call tried to help, and suddenly it correctly said I need the less expensive premium.
If I would not have had to enter everything again I would not have paid at all - next year I plan to try another product before even starting.
The constant tries to upsell product is NOT cool, and a buggy forced upsell even less.
Feels shady and dishonest.

Very disappointed that the cost went up because of my T4PS. I have had T4PS forms for years, but this year, my T4PS made me use a premium product costing me $34.99 instead of 19.99. I also had a 15% discount available on my tablet, but it wouldn't work on my laptop. I called support, waited, waited, waited, had my call escalated, only to get a sorry, we cannot help you. So, TurboTax cost more, but I got nothing for the increase, and you would not honor a discount because I used my laptop instead of my tablet! Very poor on TurbTax, you have lost a long time customer.

do not waste your time
Having used Turbo Tax in previous years I Chose to use it again for 2021. it has been a total nightmare. I spent 5 hours after imputing my information trying to stop the ongoing scrolling. A call to customer service did not fix it. Once I had tried to complete what the prompts wanted, I got locked out.
the agent suggested I try the next day.
Today I have worked with an agent for one and a half hours and after many attempts with her working my screen I finally got the return filled. The agent working did a good job trying different solutions and one finally worked

overpriced
I've used TurboTax for 15 years and always thought it was fairly priced. This year the cost of my return doubled because I had a T4A form. I have this form every year but now it increases the cost of submitting. And all of the upsells through the process. I get it's a business but it's excessive. I won't be using TurboTax in the future. Very unfortunate, I like the product but don't like your sales tactics.

WORST PURCHASE EVER
Endless paywalls, income that was on a tslip was showing as it was not, and therefore I 'had' to upgrade to 'premium' for BOTH parties filing, even though the other did not have any investment income whatsoever. Probably going to switch to wealthsimple to do my taxes next year. I am sick of all the upselling, the price hikes and lack of support (unless I want to triple what I am paying to file).

Charged 30$ for the premier version just because we had a single t5 to enter. garbage. simpletax moving forward.

Frustrating!
I've used the desktop version in the past, but now have an Apple only and there is no Apple version of this software. The online version is more difficult to use (not as quick or easy to move from task to task, for example). Was a frustrating chore!

Hello. All TurboTax Personal and Business products can be installed on a Windows computer. Only TurboTax Personal products can be installed on a Mac computer. You can also use TurboTax Online with a Mac computer but TurboTax Desktop cannot be used on a Mac computer. Please visit this link for more information on system requirements

Last year the basic return for a 94 year old retiree with $0.00...now it's $35.00...with the exact same Income and Expense categories. I'll be looking elsewhere for 2022 tax season.
