Seems to contain a lot of Ads
Every year TurboTax software contains more and more prompts to upgrade, so that completing the forms now feels like watching a YouTube video with an ad every two minutes or less, except this is a program of "see how much tax the government gets to keep". So users are paying to be a captive audience to all those ads while processing the numbers of how much income goes straight to the government... Not most people's idea of good value for a product.

Cost me 40 bucks basically
I was forced into not 1, but 2 paywalls forcing me to pay. I had no charge last year, and was very excited to use your services again.
But your forced me into paying money, when I put in the effort, the typing and work with 0 use of services or aid. This is so disappointing, I could've paid that to have someone do it for me. And the cherry on top, you don't even elaborate as to why. If my "Deluxe" account is in invalid for the following tax year, I will no longer use your services. Thank you, have a wonderful day

Not happy with changes
I have used QuickTax and TurboTax for years and always gave strong endorsement for the products. First concern: This year Turbotax went online with Deluxe version (same as used for many years). After activating the product, I was advised I had to upgrade to Premium ... also online. Rather than credit the 1st purchase toward the automatic upgrade, I had to pay for both products. Second concern: Turbotax dropped the forms method that allowed descriptions of expenses. They flagged a potential audit situation that could easily be explained on forms... unable to do so. Third Concern: Forms method allowed entry of all medical expenses on one page. Easy to see and ensure all records were accurate. New format required clicking to enter and exit each separate entry. Way more clicks to get the same outcome. TurboTax 2020 and earlier was a better product.

Not accurate
TurboTax underestimated the actual CRA tax amount by over $1000 even though I had no unusual revenues or deductions.
Handy to organize, but I will try a different program next year!

Very misleading
Started with the low-cost, but not free, option... this has worked for us in previous years with no problem. This year we got to our T4PS and BOOM -- guess what? You HAVE to upgrade, no way to continue otherwise, and the price just doubled per tax-return. In previous years this was never an issue, we don't have a complicated return, even the T4PS is simple... So many prompts to upgrade it just seems like a cash grab.

Blatant money grab
T4PS is no longer covered in standard/deluxe version.
Spent 45 minutes on with support trying to sort out how to pay for filing when I've bough deluxe but need premier due to being forced to use it. Frustration gave way to just paying for the premiere version and hopefully getting a refund for deluxe but you've lost a customer. It shouldn't be this complicated.

Watch Your Wallet
They push you up to Premium and do not give you a discount for purchasing the Deluxe. Last year I did my taxes, my ex's and 6 others it only cost me $39.98 this year the cost of Deluxe pkg $34.98 + $36+ for 1 return.

Worse than last year
I found the turbo tax product for 202 to be far inferior to the 2019 product. I used the online version in each case. The pension split maximizer did not work and since you cannot get to the actual line numbers it was impossible to do the work manually. Also the charitable donations could not be split between spouses and other issues around charitable donations, requiring reentry in some cases were present.

Partners beware
TurboTax Premier edition does not provide for partners to claim an HST rebate on personally paid expenses. The partnership income and expenses forms are difficult to navigate.

Terrible and expensive
We normally use the downloaded version of Turbo Tax. This year somehow ended up getting the online version. Hate it. Very expensive, charged full price per person, we normally pay once for the downloaded one. Will never use the online again. Very hard to follow and too many acronyms, not user friendly.
I forgot my password so I called and explained to turbo tax that I needed my cell # changed, she took the number and said to wait 5 to 10 days to change password, but it never got changed so I used another email and went from there, but ended up with the online version.
I am not impressed with your company, we have been using Turbo tax for years, this year was a bust. Not sure can use it again.

worst experience ever
this year was like walking through the flames of Dante’s infurno! I could not get my file to print so I could mail my return to CRA nor could I get my return electronically filed. No easy way to find a phone number so I could call to get assistance from Turbo Tax. It was a terrible experience!

2020 Worst update yet
The only thing I did like was the comparison with last year. That's where I found out how many figures were wrongly entered.
If you are looking for a specific line name and type it into the finder, you get a list of forms that it might be on, so you need to go through each one to find the correct spot. The actual line is not in the alphabetic list. For example, look for Capital Cost Allowance. Good luck finding it.
Every line should have a link to the Master CRA database. For example in the Ontario Tax deductions, some had links while others did not. How do I know if I qualify if I don't know what it is?
At no point do you see the actual T-forms, which is what I use, to be sure the numbers are in the correct places.

Unhappy. Cd version needed
The online version crashed over 100 times due to poor cell signals. Hours wasted re-signing on.I need the CD version but I cannot transfer previous year info back to CD only forward to Online version. If I need to manually enter my info it will be to a different software.

OMG BAD IN 2019
Poor navigation this year. Forced me to restart multiple times. Hard to access Medical/Donations. Too many issues to list them all. I have used it for years, but this year is by far the worst. Will give them one more year to fix.

Installation Key Code Didn't Work
Quite disappointed with the TurboTax program. The installation key code that I purchased from Costco did not work when I submitted my income taxes and I ended up having to pay a second time in order to file them.

Sneaky up-sells are poor business practice
I was not happy to have to re-enter my return due to being up sold a product I did not need - the "expert review" with what appeared to be no extra cost. I have to say every year I have found TurboTax to be getting worse and worse for this type of poor business practice. I am already paying for your program, I do not want to be up sold - at least have a confirmation window after so people can see how much the up sell will actually cost and then they can decide yes, it is worth it or no it is not and decline. Rather than having to delete the return and go all through re-entering the return again. If I did not have all my information in TurboTax for years, I would switch products. As a minimum, I will not recommend it and I will take every opportunity to express this view.

FRUSTRATING
I HAVE USED TURBOTAX, BOTH FOR USA AND FOR CANADA, FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH BOTH PROGRAMS. THIS YEAR MY OLD PC WITH WINDOWS 7 NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I PURCHASED A MAC COMPUTER AND PREPARED OUR US TAXES WITH EASE, USING THE DOWNLOADABLE VERSION WITH THE FORMS METHOD. WHEN I STARTED OUR CANADIAN TAXES I DISCOVERED THE ONLY METHOD AVAILABLE WAS AN ONLINE VERSION WITH NO FORMS METHOD AVAILABLE. I WAS ALSO NOT ABLE TO PRINT EACH FORM AS I WENT, TO BE ABLE TO DOUBLE CHECK ALONG THE WAY. I FOUND THIS VERY FRUSTRATING!!! HOPEFULLY BY NEXT TAX SEASON TURBOTAX CANADA CAN RECTIFY THIS ISSUE!!
