Makes Tax season easy
We use the software for the family. There are different tax scenerios for all family members and TurboTax covers them all. Couldn't ask for a better product

Intuit
Turbo tax is great. Intuit is not - They've charged me twice and I paid once in April as well. I will agree to pay only one. This was very confusing trying to get help which they didn't help me at all.

Makes things easier
I have been using TurboTax to file my tax returns for over a decade. I like I can download slips from CRA’s website directly and file the return right from the software. The option to roll forward prior year tax return is helpful. However, I feel that I always find items missed when reviewing individual forms. Overall, I would recommend this software and I will keep using it.

More Financial Explinations
I would appreciate more information on how financial information should be entered and how different financial info. is treated from a tax perspective. The paperwork from your bank, broker, etc. is, I assume, government standard but I feel a little uncomfortable when I have to go into the forms and enter the type of investment when I don't know if I'm correct or the tax impact. Not your issue by the CRA could require this info to be submitted to them and have it downloaded to your program with the rest of the tax information.

A reliable resource for completing income tax
Overall easy to use and follow. I like & trust the program. Improvements I would like to see regard investments. 1) Be clearer on which investments (T3, T5 etc) automatically apportion between spouses.2) In relation to (1), down loaded slips from CRA a great feature but again, be clear on how the investment slips apportion between spouses

Had to pay full cost
I ended up paying the full cost when the 2022 version came out despite being a long term customer. I was emailed saying the software was available so I purchased it. After that I saw that different sale prices available that would have save me a significant amount even if a first time user. why was I not offered these reduced rates in my first email?

Should add Excel or CSV import function
I do not import T5008 transactions from the CRA site because they don't apply the Superficial Loss Rule. Instead, I apply the rule on my trading records. But there is no quick way to import my own transactions into TurboTax. I have to manually input hundreds of T5008 transactions and it took me many hours to do it. I strongly suggest Intuit to add the function to import the user's own T5008 transactions from an Excel file or CSV file.

Why does one need to repeat all expenses associated with a partner when all have been listed under the main owner. Is the ownership percentage not easy and straightforward calculations? Please review this issue. Thanks

Premier 2022 repurchase from online to download
I regret I did not distinguish properly between Online version and Download version. There is no easy or available way to transfer from online to download once you have activated the online one. In fact it would be good to put more information on the packaging on how to download an online version to your computer before rendering this possibility invalid or warning that previous year's data cannot be accessed if tax done on a download version that goes to your computer rather than online that is wherever.

Filling in
For my Charitable Donations receipts, I was not able to fill in the names of the organizations. I spent quite a bit of time to try to figure out how to do it. In the end I had to leave it empty. I was not happy about that. I tried to ask help, how to access so that I could put in the names, but it did not help me

A few minor issues
Overall this application is easy to use and comprehensive. I've been using TurboTax for over 10 years and it gets better and better each year. The reason for the 4 stars (and not 5) is that there were a few minor details that stuck out as being noticeable; Installment was spelled 'Instalment'; there were a few typos ('you' instead of 'your') on at least 3 pages. On one of the final pages 'How do you feel about doing your taxes with TurboTax again?', below the 'Great' box is the word 'Great' - It's white text and it's covering 'Tell us how we can do better'; On this Ratings page, to the right of the stars for 'Overall Rating' it reads '4 Stars Good'. The tops of the letters are cut off (by what looks like the row padding) and there's no reason why the word 'Good' is on a separate line from '4 Stars'. Small things like that. The typos slightly erode faith that the text used in the software has been fully vetted, spell-checked and tested. Other than that, I would recommend TurboTax to any Canadian.

Disability Tax Credit
If you have an adult child with a disability that resides with you. And they have little or no income and are your dependent. And they have a valid DTC, you will want to transfer the unused amount of the tax credit from their return, line 31600 to your return, line 31800 (Assuming you are the highest income earner of the family). But the Turbo Tax software does not allow you to adjust line 31600 to suit your situation, and still use Netfile. This is something that TurboTax should re-examine.

Activation bug
In the middle of doing my taxes, Turbo tax froze so i had to close it. It then asked me to input in the activation key again which I did, and then another error saying it's been activated on 3 computers already popped up. I had to call customer service and spent just under an hour with her, before she got me another activation key. Quite the inconvenience! That being said it's a great tax software that I recommend and I'll be using it again next year.

Preparatory Cheat Sheet
It would be nice if you develop a Preparatory Cheat Sheet - where one can gather/jot down all the numbers, information to 'tick mark' when we start the TT program. That way - mistakes for missing / reading any info while inside the software - can be avoided. Just a suggestion. Currently I do it on a paper and takes time.

Five year user
Year over year the connectivity of TurboTax has made it better. The more the links to the official CRA site occur the better it gets. Would be nice if TurboTax could access all relevant income/tax info such as investments, property taxes paid, etc.

Good product - too expensive
Like the product - find it a little clumsy at times. I like the prompts. I like that I can go back to recheck. I lost all data first time about 2/3 of the way in - my error but was surprised that there was no auto save so I did not have to start right from the beginning. The price climbs every year - it's too expensive. I almost feel that I am going to look around next year even though I like the product. It's overpriced.

Help screens not forthcoming with all info.
The help for some screens do not indicate what line should be used to fill the information. The T4RIF form results go into required line after importing data from CRA but when double click on the corresponding T1 line the T4RIF form is not opened, Need to figure out how the amount on that line was determined.

Filling out Tax OK, logging in difficult
Filling out tax was easy using CRA data. Loading of Turbotax is very slow. However, logging in to Intuit was a real pain. Took 3 times of getting new security code to finally log in.

Old Faithful
Every year I wonder if Turbotax will modernize their software to include more warnings, upgrade the search engine, etc. I await patiently...On one side, I'm used to the reliable software with windows 3.1 text boxes and the recurring quirks but on the other hand, I would really like to see a modernization with more links and interaction that would better explain the tax code and provide more tips.

Great Tool But Has Been Better
TurboTax makes filing my taxes very easy and I would hate to do it manually. However, some things need work. The Ontario Staycation Credit forms were a confusing disaster that caused me to waste an hour trying to get it to work. Using the Donation Optimizer, I wanted to change who the donations were attached to as it didn't change the overall net amount owing but did change the individual amounts - it wouldn't allow me to change; I had to find the donation worksheet and change it there. Fo the digital subscription expense, clicking in the $ column got me a beep; I had to click in the cents column to make an entry. Little things that didn't need to be there.

Good but could be better.
T5 & T5008 forms imported from CRA did't have currency designation so Turbotax wrongly added $CDN & $US. It would be nice to have a column with currency exchange rate. Couldn't find how to change professional designation in Turbo Tax help & CRA. A bug I reported last year was not FIXED! When printing individual forms after NETFILE the file name is with my wife's name when I request the print for myself. The help is not forthcoming in some situations in providing additional information & examples. Couldn't print wife's notice of assessment! The software wants to force me into REFILE.
