Very good product with some misses
I couldn't override TT max CCA calc despite TT stating on line we opt out of CCA claim.
T776 does not allow a US address making me incorrectly claim US rental income as foreign income.

Simple
I've been using Turbo Tax to file my taxes since 2008. The assistance I receive on a call is outstanding. The Agent always solved my issues with my access code seamlessly.

Continues to be good

Used for Several Years
Was easy to use but I started inputting before I knew my spouse's income. It included all spouse deductions and told me I had a refund, when I finally got my spouse's income and recalculated I owed money.

easy to use
My only concern is that reporting speratic rental income earned from an Air B&B in the basement suite of my home may be different than how you report rental income of someone living in your rental suite full time. Turbox tax does not differentiate between the two in their step-by-step.

Popup windows need fixing
The program works well, although the popup windows that come up for things such as form lookup do not display very well on a high resolution monitor. Text does not fit in window.

Data import from CRA
Getting T slips with the CRA data import was very poor. Many tries to get import, then subsequent import tries would not work. Please try to fix this.

biggest value is it saves me time doing taxes
Taxes - never fun to do, but you have to do them. TurboTax saves me a lot of time...so for that I'm grateful.

Turbo Tax Revew 2021
They ask to edit T5008 slip as either Capital Gains or Investment. Neither is correct so you have to delete all of them one at a time. Turbo should have an option to select all. Also Turbo doesn't receive Capital Gains that are reported by Brokerages, only what's reported on slips so you have to send in a correction.

Needs a few bugs fixed
There a few places where number entry is difficult. For example, "Taxes paid by installment" in T1 General (line 47600) won't allow direct entry of value: you have to go through the "Easy" option until you reach the page with Taxes paid by installment. You can't even change a value on the T1 without going through the Easy track. The rental property form also had a similar bug: I couldn't enter the gross income unless I entered a dummy value in one of the "expenses" fields. Makes for a slightly frustrating experience, though overalll the program is good.

Useful but...
I have used Turbotax and its predecessor since 2001. The interface is improved and made more user friendly each year, which I appreciate. My problem is having to chase around to buy the CD version. The standard version is sold through Shoppers Drug Store; why not also the Premier Version?

Gets more difficult each year
Needs auto fill feature to alleviate typing the same info again and again.
Needs automatic sorting of date info so you can enter randomly and they will be in sequence

Well Worth the Price
Although difficult to obtain the download version, the product is extremely easy to use and provides very useful help every step of the way. The ability to download all of your data from the CRA website is totally awesome and essential.

Helpful.
The preparation and filing of returns is made more difficult every year because of constant amendments to an already overly tedious reporting and filing system. Turbotax provides a valuable service by constantly updating software to support taxpayers filings. Because of the choices required to select the best reporting methods, the "Optimizers" included in the software are valuable tools for users, that facilitate accurate preparation.

High Cost
The program is good and I have used it for years. Tried another product once and it totally screwed up calculations, had to end up going out and purchasing Turbo Tax to do my taxes that year. The only thing is it the price is high when you only have one return to do. It would be good if Turbo Tax had a product for doing 1 or 2 taxes returns involving interest and investment income.

good product
TurboTax streamlines our tax preparation. It allows me to leave off and restart. Cuts paper though I do print a final copy (cant let go that insecurity). Love the link to Elections, plus Audit Defender. All in all, it does the job without wanting to talk to me about Life-Work Balance.

It would be great if turbotax can develop a single tax software that can handle both the Canada and US tax filing in one single entry. I think there are a lot of US citizens living in Canada or vice versa who will appreciate this software so that data will not have to be entered twice into 2 separate software and also reduce the error made due to data entering and currency conversions. Be careful not to double count income
TT is smarter/obscure than I thought. Investments split with spouse are automatically entered for her. These automatic entries are not shown in input section. So I entered her share separately, which doubles up on income. You can only see duplicate entries in backup schedules. Some are not even printed when you print the tax return. Huge overpayment of taxes due to overreported income.

Helpful Tool
i have used turbotax software for years and recommend using it to help with filing taxes, especially if your return is more complicated than declaring T4 and T5s. However, you still need to keep an alert mindset and possibly consult with CRA websites to understand your obligations and potential deductions due you.

Good but not Great
I Have been a very satisfied user of the Standard Version for Many years. This year I bought the Premium version, hoping to simplify the entry and review of my investment information. But I found no added value or benefit for paying almost double the purchase price.

Unnecessary pages printed
When printing for self or to mail all unnecessary/blank pages should not be printed.
As well when two sided printing is to be done , program should know when not to print on both sides since attaching pages in certain order can not be done.

Gets the job done quickly!
I have a complex tax situation but TurboTax simplifies the filing process as much as possible. I don't find the help that useful --Google seems to be much more useful for finding the information I'm looking for but they do try . My biggest gripe is that I need to use TT Premier because I have a rental property and I resent having to buy 20 returns to file just 4 returns for members of my family.
