Going back to correct
It would be more user friendly and convenient if I could highlight a section to go back to should I need to make an edit, instead of repeatedly hitting the back button. If this feature exists, I was not able to figure it out.

Great Software but needs to be bug proof
I've been using TurboTax for the last 8 years. Overall great software and very easy to use. But this year, when filing returns for 2020, it froze whenever it's handshake with CRA website, when importing my tax forms, was not smooth. Had to 'End Task' the software in Windows OS, and then restart. Luckily it was able to save most of my work and data entered up to that stage. But still cost me a couple of hours of unsuccessful attempts. I'd ask TurboTax developers to build the option that if handshake and data download from CRA website is not successful, the software should given option to exit the attempt and manually enter data.

Authorization flawed
I installed TT on a brand new computer. There were problems with the authorization process. The window was blank, just a white background, yet the cursor changed as I moved it across the window. It took about 4 hours of reinstalling and talking to TT support to get it to work. After that, the software worked as flawlessly as it has each year for more than 20 years. I suspect a conflict in the software with the 11th generation Intel i77 and iRIS xe graphics.

Simple Tax Return Best Value
Easy enough to use for employed families.
Cost is a fraction of an accountant, for 2 hours of your own time if you've been diligent with receipts throughout the year.
Would recommend - not worth paying the extra live review and audit defense. Just call in with questions, the employed tax professionals are wonderful and very knowledgeable.

Most valuable thing is that the data carries forward. Making spare copy way to many pages are printed. Should have a short form as all details are on file.

Profile Questions and Using Easy Steps
Using the Easy Step process, you have to know whether to answer YES or NO to the questions even when you may have answered YES or NO to the same question previously. Example: do you have any T5008 slips to enter? Say YES;
A few screens later: "Did you sell any stocks? Say YES (when you shouldn't say YES since your T5008 slip is for the same thing) By indicating YES to both questions, you actually are inputting the same information 2X and doubling the amount of gains/losses.

I've been using Turbo Tax for a very long time.
It saves me time in keeping me up to date on any filing changes and providing me with the forms if needed. I'm a paper lover but I have to admit filing with Turbo Tax electronically

2020 Version
Need to understand the Principal Residence inputs. They did not work well for me.
Printing a copy was horrible as I killed far too many trees to print reports that were nil. Then to print an individual item it was not clear if this constituted another whole return as suggested by the program.
The rest of the return was good.

You should make entering foreign pensions not taxable under convention easier. I noticed you did some work on it this time.

Need this stuff
Filing taxes is never fun and it reminds one just how burdened we are by our Government in Canada. Software doesn't fix that.
Turbotax gets expensive when the return is complex, but does the job best. There can be conflict issues with Security and AntiVirus software that impact, operation, downloading and Authorization of Turbo\Tax

Turbotax Premier
I have been using Turbotax for seven years now. I fill out all the required information, and file all "T" forms report everything every year. It never fails that The Canadian Revenue Agency, always sends me back a report that my return was filed incorrectly. Some time they claim i owe them more money, and some times they say they owe me back as I have over paid. i never can figure it out but just go along with the changes.

Improve NETFILE. Otherwise good.
Overrides of unused deductions such as donations, medical expenses and resource expenses (CCEE) should not make it impossible to use NETFILE. Please look into improving this.
Bring back automatic annual subscription renewal with CD shipment

Easy not Foolproof
Is a product that works well! I recommend for those that are quite familiar with the Jargon of the CRA tax system. I hope in future that intuit will add clarifications to explain the meaning of tax related terms used when indicating required values. eg. when does capitol gains not to include those from share sale reported on T5008 or otherwise?

Being able to access T5, T3, and T5008's through the CRA Download made filing much less labor intensive this year. On the T5008 form, is it possible to declare type of income, investment or capital gains, on multiple transactions at a time rather than having to go into each transaction individually? Otherwise, TurboTax Premier made filing our taxes much easier this year. Should have upgraded many years sooner!

Could be easier
The tax code is too convoluted and the software lacks smarts.
However, it does a good job.
Every year I have issues with T1135, which I have to submit with errors even when all is fixed.

Good but know your tax profile
Premier version be very familiar with CRA jargon and if you're doing any carry forward losses be sure to have past years info on hand or know how to get it. It was annoying having to stop and do research to find past years carry forward info.

Useful but can be confusing
Tax filing is stressful at the best of times. Turbotax is good, however I recommend that at the very beginning there is a check-box system for a user to rate themselves as, eg, Novice; Experienced; Expert Turbotax user, and Intuit reviews its processes with a variety of people who consider themselves as one of these grades, then assess the level of help each need to make the user experience more straightforward and thus reduce stress. I had to restart due to confusion with labels such as "T4RIF" and "other income", where "other income needs to clarify that if covered under a T4RIF then there is no need to enter the information again - some people may consider that verification when in fact every entry is done once, ie unique. Similar situations occur throughout. I hope this helps.
