First time user
The medicals should have a section for travel related medicals, had trouble getting the spousal transfer for disability, and hard to find what the Ontario Trillium Benefits amounts are. Good guidance but slow in moving around.

Good but room for improvement
I used the US version of Turbotax for years until I immigrated to Canada with my Canadian wife. Due to the perceived complexity of filing both US and Canada tax returns, I felt the need for professional help (and also the assistance of a CPA -HA!) After a few years with the CPA preparing both US and CA tax submissions, I was ready to tackle the task again myself. I used the Turbotax Premier edition for US and the Turbotax Premier 2020 edition for Canada.. The US version (last used in 2016) was a familiar old friend - easy to navigate and with useful information. The Canadian edition needs some help. The EasyStep interview did not always lead you to the correct data entry - initially my US IRA distribution was grouped with regular pension income which allowed for pension splitting which is NOT correct for an IRA. I had to search in the forms view to find the correct field. In forms view the icons and labels are too small and are not sufficiently scalable (two sizes: small and smaller). In the forms view there is no back button so going back to where you just were is clumsy. The interview does not provide any guidance on taxes withheld for Canadian securities (15% withhold) held in a US investment account. Since this is tax paid, just like estimated payments, you want credit. I had to call Turbotax support to find out how to get the amount into the correct line (line 43700) and it was not obvious to me that I should put this on the T4 (wasn't employed and certainly did not get a T4) but it did work - thanks Turbotax support. In the US version moving around the form view gets you to where you want to go - not necessarily so in the Canadian edition. Per the pervious example, when you are in forms view and double click line 43700, you get to a worksheet but never to the original interview screen - you have to switch to the interview and find the T4, which is awkward. The "optimizer" screens (for pension splitting medical expenses, etc.) are crude and not intuitive. A good improvement (though perhaps limited to a very small customer base) would be allowing US tax forms to be input (even manually) and have the information flow to the correct T1 line or worksheet. Still, overall, Turbotax Canada is cheaper than a CPA and I'll happily use it again.

Product Help
My major issue with Turbotax is if there are any errors highlighted the only resource is the community. Unfortunately no access is available to contact any individual. Also, i find it incredible that Turbotax is unable to provide facility to add more lines in form T1135.

Needs some user work
First time submitting a couple return vs individual returns. Software should warn users not to enter T5 investments slips for joint accounts twice when doing coupled returns. Climate incentive selection should be as per check box and if changed should not require user to go deeper into software to ensure change is made. Charitable donations should be applied as per original selections not "defaulted" to the first name entered as a couple.

Resident Entry/Departure Date
There is no way to access this restricted field with the forms method. When you enter the date in the step-by-step method it does not appear on the T1.
There is no way to reach technical support because there is either no phone number provided or you bury the phone number so deep so no one can find it.

Easy To Use
This is the 2nd year I've used this program. It's slick & helps you optimize for your best possible return. If unsure about an entry, there's easy to use hyper links that references brief explanations & details if you're unsure about an entry & if you qualify. I'd rather do my fairly simple taxes this way vs spending hundreds more for an accountant that likely uses similar software.
I really like the feature of downloading past return basic information for members of my family which really cuts the time down to do the tax return since it autofills this. The interface with the CRA site is also another nice feature as it downloads all relative T4's etc from our registered profiles; I double checked the entries and they were 100% accurate with the T4 paper copies I had. My only gripe & why I didn't give 5 stars all around is that the program has stalled a few times when trying to interface with the CRA site, requiring to shut the program & boot it back up. No big deal since the information was auto saved, but an inconvenience nevertheless.
Overall a great program & will continue to use this for future returns.

Definitely 2020
I had some problems with my CRA downloads and actual Netfile this year - which was a first - but likely due to all the turmoil with CRA and Covid - however TurboTax was not useful in solving the problems

Turbo Tax by Intuit
This tax software was made by Intuit. Intuit has been in this business for a long time since 1980's and they make accounting and tax software, Simply accounting is one of them. Thanks for letting me try Turbo Tax, it was fun.

PRINTING

Turbotax worth the price
Although there are a few glaring deficiencies with this product, it is the only way to tackle Canadian income tax filing. It makes it far easier than trying to muddle through confusing income tax guides and provides the simplest way to try various tax measures to see what the outcome would be (for example, what if I increased my charitable donations, or what if I had put more money into RSP's). The glaring exceptions are things like the inability to print out simple lists...for example you can enter lots of individual receipts for things like charitable donations or medical expenses, but then it becomes impossible to print out that list. Plain stupid as far as I'm concerned. At the very least, you should be able to have a printable schedule for your own records. After all, if you went to all the trouble to enter each receipt individually, why wouldn't you be able to review that list? Seems incredible that Turbotax has dropped the ball on something so basic. However, in virtually every other way, the system works extemely well. Oh, and i also dislike being forced into selecting one of two choices when neither choice is correct: For example, I already have a CRA account and am paperless...at one point Turbo tax gives you a choice: Do you want to register for CRA? Would you rather not go paperless at this point. Where is the option that says "I'm already registered and going paperless".? Don't let that stop you from purchasing this software package though. It's worth the money.

Very easy
I have used Turbo Tax for the last 10+ years. I have worked for a couple of companies that provide income tax services in the past and although I am now retired, I enjoy keeping up-to-date with tax changes. I use Turbo Tax Premier because I do my tax returns as well as some family and friends returns. They know that I have experience in the field and that they can trust me to do their taxes online. I therefore became their Representative and was given a Rep ID from CRA in order to fully complete each return with online access to their CRA account (I believe it ensures that I have all their slips as my family and friends sometimes think they have everything and either didn't get slips, lost them or forgot all about them). Thanks to Turbo Tax for making me, my family and friends happy about "tax time".

Although very good software. Many different problems which occurred .
It seemed to be saying to me that I had reached maximum returns. When the total was 2 over 25,000. and under 25,000.
Problem seemed to have been corrected but very strenuous on my part.

capital gains
i entered capital gains info with T5008 then you asked for a summary of capital gains so i reentered which doubled my amt. Luckily i discovered the error and was able to correct.

Have Used Turbotax for Years
I've used TT pretty well since it started, very few problems with CRA (mostly my own making, not TT). It's easy to use though the Easy Step interview style is a bit cumbersome, takes a long time to work through the screens.
The desktop version is MUCH better than the online version since you can access the forms directly, if you have something TT doesn't directly address in the Easy Step process.

Bad Start - Good Product
I've been using Turbo Tax for the last 7 or 8 years and it is consistently one of the best and easiest tax software to use. Very accurate but somehow this year I had to contact support in order to get the license number activated. Still, once I had the application going it's pretty easy to complete my returns. Even with this minor glitch, I will still use Turbo Tax as my GOTO application to complete my tax returns
