Pension Optimizing with Death of Spouse
I have used Turbo Tax for some 8 years now, preparing about 6 to 8 returns a year and found it very helpful. I like to go back and forth between easy step and forms which helps to learn. This time, however, I had a parent who passed away in 2020. I found optimizing the transfer of pension with the death of one spouse difficult to undertake. Allowing a joint return preparation would have made it much easier. In order to optimize, I had to prepare a joint return as though the spouse had not died, then prepare separate returns which effectively doubled the work. The other thing I would like improved is, I would like to print drafts of the returns without using up returns that I can submit. This would make it much easier to check my work and search for errors.

Wonderful Product!
I have used Turbo Tax for about 20 years an the latest version is the best yet. I was amazed at how easily it was submitted to CRA I paid my tax right away and am waiting for my wife's refund which was maximized by the Turbo Tax Optimizers!

I found this year's edition much easier to use than in previous years. I tried using a tax preparation company and was very disappointed.

Used it for years
I still have my QuickTax CD from 1995. Much better than filling out the forms manually, which I did for many years. I've always used the Forms View but the Interview process is probably good for someone doing their taxes for the first time.
This was the first year I downloaded the T slips from CRA and it worked well. I didn't realize it had downloaded the T2005 until after I had entered all my Capital Gains on Schedule 3. :-( Lesson learned.
I will order the download again next year, and try to remember to install it before starting it Online. I lost the Carry Forward.

Always Trust the program
I have used this product over the years and any mistakes have been mine. I trust this program every time. I plan to keep using this in the future for years to come. You do not need to be a tax wiz only follow the instructions and read what every thing means. It make it extremely easy, even a Bear can do it. LOL

Excellent product
I have been using this product since 2014 and it was good then and it has improved since, specifically, spouses can now share income/loss from T5008's. I was an income tax filer for a franchise firm for 4 tax seasons and this product compares quite well with the products we used for commercial purposes.

Makes filing income tax easier
Filing Income Tax is becoming more detailed and complicated every year. Forms and Schedules are changed or modified without notice. Now you must read over and find the changes.eg; T1 General was 4 pages but now it is 8 pages and Schedule 4 is no longer used. Turbo Tax is a real saver! It makes filing your taxes much, much easier. When filing taxes for the first time (child, grand child or grand parent), the forms are filled out and must be mailed in. When CRA receives the file, then a My Account can be applied for, then you can use Netfile. It would be really nice if Netfile could be used even for a first time person.

FIrst time use
Only real problem I had was with T3 - it wasn't obvious where to enter foreign non-business income as the main screen only listed foreign business income - you had to click to go to a secondary screen. Otherwise easy to use.

So easy to understand and use
My husband has stock options and strange US forms plus oil field and driver exeptions and we've been using this for 5 years now with no CRA problems. Much more cost effective than paying an accountant.
