Good for family and investments
Was able to complete 5 family members fairly quickly, including rental income, salary, pensions and investments.
Would like more line item related help at click of button, could find most things, but sometimes took some searching.

have been using TurboTax from QuickTax days
the only thing that I would like to see improved is when you are entering deductions for medical expenses especially where you can have over 50 of them in a year - if somehow the system could populate fields where the info is the same ex type of expense - name of person - who the expense was paid to - would save a lot of time

for people whom have experience
This program has improved, but you actually need to understand the forms you normally fill out as this program missed some of my deductions I ticked off, the help file is better but needs to explain items in clearer terms, for the average person to understand? and not the person's with terminology who is designing the program, such have a rookie or advanced terminology

better than past, but still needs work
The eaystep flow seemed better than in past years, but still encountered the 'hmmm, do they mean this or that' entry fields (and no, I did not log when these occurred)
An incomplete (actually it was empty) T1135 seems to have been submitted, Why??? I am sure that this is going to cause grief.
When I tried to print out the netfile confirmation emails, none of my 3 printers could print it, even if I created a PDF, well at least I could create the PDF
Finally, if I cannot use characters like + or & in my nickname, tell me before I use them.

PROGRAM CAN BE ANNOYING
I find it really annoying that information such as Ontario Trillium Benefit Estimate, Current Year Tax Summary, Tax Year-Over-Year Comparison Summary is available which cannot be printed. What do expect people do with the information, memorize it?? Take a photo?
If you offer information, let people have a copy of it for future reference.

Watch for duplications
I just find that when you do your profile for the stock sales it is easy to think you must enter the information twice when it is on a T5008 and then it flips to the form version later...

Does a good job
For the most part Turbotax makes it easy to complete and submit your taxes. I did run into a minor error where one of the forms that was required would not let me enter $0.00 as correct and needed, so I ended up having to enter $0.01. Other than that it was good.

Occasional roadblock
Generally helpful and easy to use but beware occasional roadblocks like appearing to give a choice of over $250000 in foreign holdings but that not working. Be willing to try other options and see where it leads you.

Easy to use
Found glitches for first time in using product in 6 years. RRSPs entry box was not available on the easy step - had to go to the Forms - needed help for that. Spent about an hour total time waiting for agent to assist me to fix.

Easy Enough to do
Software is easy enough to enter data. It is better than it was in the past variants. The only thing that I didn't see was a prompt to move a refund between two people splitting income if it is still allowed by the CRA.

Not as friendly as it used to be
This year I found that Turbo Tax Premier was not as easy to navigate as it it used to be. For instance, when you are ready to Net File and you are already on electronic filing and communications, it puts you into a bunch of useless questions rather than giving the opportunity to file both reports promptly.

Room for improvement
MAJOR BEEF! When will you offer this for MAC! Mac's popularity is increasing and Windows is declining. I only need Windows for TURBOTAX and I hate it.
Software needs more flexibility - it's usually not possible to leave a window to check another window without closing the window and then re-entering it.
But apart from that it's pretty easy to use and does my returns quite efficiently

Awkward and confusing at times
The interview process asks about the slips I have, treating each spouse separately. When entering data from the slips, they are asked for in a completely different order, with the two spouses treated alternately for each type of slip. It would be far better if, having placed the slips in the order requested in the interview, the data entry phase called for the slips in the same order as the interview. Also, there is a great deal of confusion about benefits from past employment and the handling of T4 / T4A / Quebec Releve slips. Warnings are issued that suggest a problem which does not exist in this area. Warnings are also issued for the Quebec medical insurance premium calculation in the case (mine) where the insurer only provides Supplemental prescription drug coverage. I was led to believe there was a problem that I did not specify the months during which I was covered by a private basic prescription drug insurance plan, when in fact I have no such plan. I saw no mention of the option to fund my spouse's Quebec tax owing from my tax refund, which I have used in the past. There was also no notice that Quebec had suspended this option (if that is what they have done). These problems do not invalidate the basic usefulness of this program, but they cause a waste of time on non-existant problems, and a cash flow timing problem with regard to Quebec refunds vs. amount owing for spouses.

Turbo Tax Review
I have used Turbo Tax for many years. This years version worked perfectly EXCEPT that I had great difficulty installing it. I mean that it actually installed but then tried to update itself which failed (Code TT805). I tried this several times and even got Customer Service involved but to no effect.
I decided to ignore the warning messages about upgrading and did a manual upgrade. This worked but the program still gives me warning messages when I boot it.
Anyway, the program allowed me to enter my data and to Netfile the results and to print a copy for my records so all is good.

Needs a tweek
Easy to follow and fills out tax forms efficiently... would be nice if it displayed the federal and provincial Tax Guide in side column as you progress through the form. Questions at top that prompt your progression are good. Viewing the actual Tax Form and Schedules are hard to view if existing.

Rental Property
I had rental income this year and therefore purchased the Premier version. However, I did not find the help panels exhaustive enough for someone who has new rental income. More details need to be provided with examples instead of just redirecting to CRA documentation.

Disappointments
Family is usually 3-4 returns, not 12 : the program is too expensive.
T4PS : you have place for only 10 slips.
T5008: demands dollar value on Quantity of Securities.
Did not work connections with CRA for downloading slips.

2018 taxes
This years tax software is easier to use than previous years probably because I've used the product for many years, navigating is still hard but as you learn the program it becomes less daunting. Taxes are hard but turbo makes it easier.
