Nice improvements
I have used Turbo Tax for several years. It is nice to see that some of the glitches with regard to Rental Property splitting between spouses have been fixed. Also, the NetFile experience is much more straightforward than it used to be!! Premier is a good product if your taxes have medium complexity. I did try the help chat once, and it was "so - so".

Glich
Disappointed with problem saving returns. Kept running into a TT401 error and it was a real pain. I did like that T1135 form could be filed electronically.

Mostly good
Found it very easy to use. However wished I could have imported my info from the TurboTax online last year so that I didn't have to put in all the info again. If there was a way to do this, they didn't make it intuitive! I also found one section confusing when they were asking about dependents and whether they were NOT a parent, and NOT in prison etc. It is odd to phrase questions in the negative and made it very confusing for whether Yes meant they were NOT, or Yes meant they were! I don't know why all the other questions are asked in the regular way, and then they decided to phrase questions in the negative. Very confusing! I hope this is changed next year!

Software Bug
There is a bug when entering a situation where you have transferred monies into an RRSP (excess amounts from a RIF). Turbo Tax takes the Transfer amount and puts it into Line one of Schedule 1 (Unused RRSP contributions). It should actually go into either Line 2 or 3. The result is that when you go to Netfile you are given an error message and can't continue as the CRA knows that this is NOT the Unused value on their files. TurboTax places the Transfer amount into the Carry Forward page which, if you don't know where to look is annoying and time consuming.

Better than the Standard software
I was using the standard version for quite a few years. I have a few relatives who have asked me to do their taxes. Because some of them have rental income I decided to try the Premier this year. It is much better for calculating vehicle usage, rental income ...
There are a few things that are annoying regardless of which version you decide to use. First is that none of these versions give you the GST amount. I use UFile as part of the CVITP volunteer program and it tells you GST, Trillium and CCB amounts.
Secondly is the final review section. Why do you keep showing these warning questions when there are no errors? It makes me doubt my work every time I get to the end of a return. It is a nuisance.

Easy to use
The netfile process is now extremely easy to use. Well done, Turbo Tax! Filling in the tax return was also simple, but I liked the 2017 format better, and that is why I gave this one only 4 stars.

Long Time User
Premier covers tax deductions and tax updates well. Information can be carried over year to year. Auto Netfile your tax return. However, they really need to fix their tax update software. Without having to keep re-installing the SW patch, it will not update by itself which is a real bothersome step every time you open it to use. This problem started last year and continues this year. They really need to fix this since every year you have to call up their customer service to get this patch.

Easy to use program
I have very limited computer skills, but I have used this program for around 10 years and find it easy to use.
I like that it does stock dividend and capital gain info on earnings split based on what percentage applies to each spouse for that asset and would like to see it set up to handle the sale of stock to work from percentage basis as well.

The "T" Forms
Turbo Tax has always been a good product for me , saving a lot of time and effort in finalizing income tax returns. However, I did have a problem with input of the T3 and T5 forms, not realizing that in the case of spousal returns being prepared together, only one spouse is required to input the total number of the spousal joint investments. There is no need to do the split for each spouse, saving a lot of time and effort and perhaps a lesser result to make an error. Turbo Tax automatically does the split - perhaps this info could be made more clearly for the Turbo Tax user who was as clueless as I. Thanks to the patience of the Turbo Tax representative who guided me through the exercises to achieve correct results.

Turbo Tax very helpful
I have used Turbo Tax Premier for many years. It is easy to use, simplifies your filing process, and allows you to make "what if" calculations (eg. RRSP). It is also easy to transfer data from previous year's returns. It is pricey compared to other products on the market - you may want to shop around if it is your first time using a software product.

Principal Residence Designation created problems
The designation of a disposition of your principal residence forms were relatively easy to complete, and looked correct, but once the netfile stage was reached, errors started showing up. It took me almost an hour to correct them, the forms were duplicated, changed, duplicated again, then finally accepted.

1 I liked the way it pulled the settlement info, but why not all of the info regarding the disposition such as outlays, gains
2 I only need to prepare taxes for 4. There ought to be a better price for us than those who prepare for more

Pretty solid
I had some complicated deductions for the first time and TurboTax walked me through from beginning to end. I was a little disappointed to see they had such a little effect on my return but that's not TurboTax's fault.

uneasy using online version
Did not feel comfortable with the online version and had to resort to the DVD version. Although I do have cloud services from Microsoft and WD as well as Dropbox. When pausing to complete the file as well as final storing it is the sharing part I was not comfortable with.

Easy to Use
I like the TurboTax as it is user friendly
However this year the Turbo Tax Premier was challenging to use if required to save and continue later as an error message always came up "could not find address" and even though I repurchased on line same thing happened.

Great other than a small glitch in the program
The program is great other than the fact that when you go to NetFile and print a preview of your Notice of Assessment, and if the CRA sight has issues, turbotax locks up. When you reload turbotax it doesn't go back to the location you exited. You have to go back and redo a number of steps to have turbotax complete correctly.

Support needs improvement
I have been using Turbotax for over 5 years and have never had any complaints. However, this year when I contacted support, I was very disappointed with the service I received, or lack of support. I never did get my issue resolved. Thankfully I was able to find the answer with the help of the CRA site. Otherwise, the program is great.

One frustrating thing
It took a while to figure it out. But when you fill out a spouse form (and file the form), make sure to SIGN-OUT of the previous CRA account FIRST! This warning needs to be made clearer. Otherwise Turbo Tax will CRASH.
