Overall Good - Repeated Save Issue
Despite saving my progress twice in different locations, I had to redo my entire return when I paused my first attempt for a few days. The files I saved were nowhere on my computer. Same thing happened to me when I tried the 2016 software.

Good product but some nits
Good product that is easy to use for most tax situations but trying to contact an actual person by phone to discuss complex tax issues is virtually impossible.

Registering
I love my Turbo Tax, I have one issue with it. I do not have to register once, but many times. I have been purchasing my turbo tax directly from Turbo Tax directly for many years, but I have to register each year, and each year multiple times. There has to be a way for Turbo Tax to register me once and that is it. I use the same device all the time, and multiple times it asks me to register. That is really hurting my experience as it is extremely annoying.

Used for several years

Good but obscures some actions
Quite happy with result. I enter my own Tslips rather than import. To me entry of medical expenses and investment carrying costs Not as straightforward as should be...Had to search for forms...IIRC one just double clicked on the field on the main form and it opened the worksheet. Didn't seem to work this time - had to search for the form. Also calculation of foreign tax credits and excess (foreign) tax paid is complex calculation which it does automatically - then review process wants you to confirm you are eligible for that claim. In my case it did all this from T slip data so why are you asking me?

mostly good
I find it awkward and confusing at the end. If you buy audit defense (I do), it doesn't continue on to netfile and you aren't really sure where you are at. CCA on my rental property wasnt as clean / automatic as it should be either

TurboTax is easy to use but it will go into a loop even though all the requirements have been fullfilled for the particular processing stage (i.e will not progress beyond the point at which Netfile has been completed with CRA...continues to ask if pdf file is to be saved even though file has been saved).

When reviewing my taxes and slips, I found that I could not get the boxes 24, 25 and 26 to come up and stay up on T5 slip. Only the summary total. I manually had to add up the numbers on the slip and compare to the total to confirm that I had entered it properly.

BLANK FORMS
When you answer NO to whether you want
blank forms printed eg. split income
and sale of principal residence- the program
still prints them. A complete waste of paper
that has to be shredded because of personal
iinfo, name and SIN

Turbo Tax Premier & Pro Review
Have used TT Standard for years but due to additional claims stepped up to the Premier Edition. Was not completely sure how to claim certain deductions so decided to have a pro review my return. Andrea was thorough and friendly and when she wasn't sure about my T4A she called for help and got the answer we needed. I felt so much better after having her go over my return and filed with confidence. Thank you, Andrea

Tax Time - easier
Thank you for the ability to download CRA data. So much easier/better. Only improvement would be a check-box to multiple delete downloads IF already entered via paper slips.

Very helpful -but be carefull
This product is 90 percent better than using the old pen & calculator method, but mistakes can be made. With couples one must determine if both can claim a credit or only one, and most times the software will not catch the error.

Had to reinstall
This is the 2nd year in a row that Turbo Tax has corrupted and I have had to call, get un-installed and re-installed. Not happy about that! this year it was the TT403 error, after an update.

In most instances the software handles deductions with ease and simplicity but if travel is incurred in medical expenses its hard to complete the information because if you use the simplified method you do not have receipts

Good value for money
Overall easy to use if you have some tax knowledge. A reference to CRA bulletins would be helpful for some lines [eg; 221] in order to understand what is/is not allowable deductions. Have done taxes for a number of years, the product adequate for the taxes I prepare.

Efficient and Simple
I've been using TurboTax for years, couldn't be simpler, imports previous years info, hardly any data input required. Step by Step approach with RRSP calculator makes it obvious how to maximize your return. Thanks TurboTax people!!

TurboTax Premier
I only purchased this for the rental income use, I don't like that fact that the boxes do not let you manually add together a bunch of numbers ie: expenses in the same category - would be nice to have this function like quickbooks does, seeing as it is an intuit product don't know why it would not be implemented as well. I'm not sure that double the price is really worth it not much extra information for a rental return in my opinion (versus turbotax regular version). Would make sense for business returns
