Not bad tax program
The program is not as clear in some of the questions it asks you in order to fill out your profile. If you fail to answer the question correctly the program won't let you complete all the necessary forms. You have to go back and figure out what question you didn't answer correctly and change your answer. This cost me at least an hour of wasted time to figure this out. Other than that the program is ok.

RRSP deduction wrong
Had a carryforward of unclaimed contributions due to RRSP deduction limit of NIL. Program improperly claimed entire carryforward amount.

Good Product
I would appreciate the font color being darker as it is difficult to see the print for people with cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma.
the number 6 looks like an 8. I had to get the magnifying glass out!

Split Income problem.
There's a problem I encountered last year when splitting income with my spouse. TurboTax automatically transfers a proportion of tax credits to my wife from my file/return when I transferred split income to her return. No warning of this in the 2016 software. I only found out after talking to a CRA agent and deducing what had happened from her responses.

Some Transfer issues!!
The transfer of info to the 2017 tax info was not easy, I did most of it manually, like the program did not do it!! And to access CRA info to transfer was very frustrating,

Some problems
1. TT doesn't handle tax-exempt foreign pensions well. CRA requires that these be listed, but the TT EasyStep doesn't handle adding this income to Line 256 and also subtracting foreign tax paid in the FTC Worksheet (although it does handle pension-splitting). I did it by manually entering the numbers into the form.
2. Trying to access the CRA Website to download data, TT locked up and didn't register that I/we had already netfiled. I had to go through the whole process again, this time skipping the CRA website.
3. Would be nice to have a global setting for foreign exchange rates, so the rate doesn't have to be keyed in manually for every entry.

Good Software But!!
Tturbo Tax is very easy to use. The only problem I had was with the installation of of the software. On installation it would not update or allow me to register online. This happened twice this year (tax year 2017). Once on the initial install and the second time when I went to do my taxes and Turbo Tax tried to update. Both times I needed to contact Intuit to resolve the problem as the recommended procedure/method of "uninstall and reinstall" would not work. Other wise it was a very good experience that left me very pleased with my purchase and the easy completion and filing of my taxes.

Ran into problems

Improve please
1. This year it was hard to get the cursor to click into a field that was where I was supposed to enter a number in the rental form.
2. I did not figure out how to get the size of the text in the forms to become larger on screen.
3. Otherwise I was satisfied.

I've used Turbo Tax for a number of years. It's a great program when you're not all that computer savvy. Don't like having to re-enter information already input when you have to go back & change a few things. This happened when having to go back & change/input missed info on rental property screens.

Excellent - except for
The one thing that this software has always been lacking is the input for the T3 T4 T5 all forms in general, is that you can't look at the form and then find the fields in the same format on the screen. Now with the ability to download the forms from the CRA this is not as important. But for my mother's return it is a pain to enter the data correctly. Matching the input form to the tax form is basically the only criticism I have. Interestingly in the company survey I had no way to tell them. I stopped using turbotax for 7 years but only came back with government downloadable forms.

glitches
A few glitches-the first time I tried to link to the CRA website from Turbotax, it was unsuccessful
When you reach the end of the program and are asked if you wanted to file another return, even though you press yes, it continually asks you if you want to save your return but never takes you back to the beginning to start a new form.
Also, when you are done and don't want to file another return, the same thing happens (continually asks you if you want to save) -you eventually just have to shut the program down

Turbo Tax
Computer Locks Up when you say NO to Audit Defense. Program goes in endless circles, No EASY WAY TO EXIT! Low Reliability on Internet, computer frequently locked up.

I have used turbotax for several years. In the past the download was swift. This year it took me an hour. In the past it looked at past returns and filled in a bunch of data. This year I had to fill it all in like the first time.

Helpful, but not foolproof
I've been using Turbo Tax for over a decade and have really come to depend on it each year. It is easy to use in general, and reliable. The only room for improvement would be to have more explanations of different circumstances when you click on the "help" button or when you click to get a definition of something.
Overall, I recommend it.

This year was the first year that I had a hard time finding a phone number for help when a certain area kept bringing me back to the same place. \I found the number and was helped right away.
If we send this kind of money on a product it would be great to be able to reach out for help when we don't understand a change from years before in the program. Still a great product and will use again next year.

Improvement next year
1. Dividend and capital gain in the software is unclear in the filling of the forms in the software. It is easy to click dividend as capital gain which will result in drastic increase in tax to the government which should not be the case.
2 Pension income split amount can be up to 50% instead of just $2,000. This is both unclear in the CRA site/forms as well as in your software. However, you pension optimizer do a good work on this.

T slips show an incorrect total
Some T slips - those with hidden extra lines numbered in the 20s - show an incorrect and much higher total than the lines themselves add up to. Fortunately, those totals are not used by Intuit to process the overall tax return. This is only a mild inconvenience, but irritating.
