Good as Always
For some reason, found it more confusing than last year. I wasn't able to get 2016 info to load to appropriate places.

TT Premier
Very simple to use, however doesn't always successfully connect and import documentation from the MyAccount CRA website.
I was also expecting free online accounting assistance for the Premier product. Paying a Premium for premier over th basic package, I expected more.

Lot of Trouble installing
1-did not advertise that carry over was not available on Downloads.
2- False error message could not install either C++ 2015 Redisributable Package (X86)
3-Eventually uninstalled download version and re-installed CD version to get carry forward info. Still got message that I could not install C++ 2015 Redistributed Package (X86) but some how the program worked and I could carry forward my data returns from 2016

reduce number of returns
Do not require the ability to complete 12 returns. I would suggest that a max of 5 returns is sufficient.

Initially very CONFUSING!!!
Wow! What a change that I was not prepared for. Over the previous 20+ yrs I had developed the skills to complete my return in less than 15 mins. This new format was time consuming & extremely confusing!
After the 1st return was completed and submitted, the 2nd return was a breeze! YES, a major improvement. I really like the new format, but must communicate to TurboTax management that a written advisory either in hard copy, or at the start of the DVD is required to facilitate the transition.

Good, But Some Sloppy Programming
I have used TurboTax for years. It is generally a good product but there is some sloppy programming . . .
an example, when printing the Netfile confirmation, the software prints a blank page before, then the confirmation page, then another blank page. This is one of several examples throughout the software. To me, it demonstrates sloppy programming and a lack of attention to quality control.
I just hope they are not as sloppy with the important calculations within the tax calculation portion of the software.

Good package, easy to work with in general. Some of the help write-ups could be a little easier to understand.... and where possible an actual link to solving the question would help. Example: the review suggested I could over-ride the calculated CCA on my business vehicle to reduce taxes but trying to figure out how to do that, or by how much, was impossible. It would be helpful if there was an "optimizer" attached to such areas of advice so we could easily see if it actually applies, by how much, and then a simple click would implement the over-ride, if that was the route to go. Otherwise, why bother offering advice if the recipient has no idea how to use it?

Turbo Tax Premiere 2017
Too many questions and reminders. Some not even applicable to tax being completed. Can we get rid of the pop-up window at the beginning? Nuisance. It seems cumbersome to work with compared to prior years.

Turbo Tax
I have used Turbo tax for many years & find it user friendly. The only recommendation I would have would be to have a selection to print a T1 General Return summary showing only active lines. This would greatly reduce the paper printed.

Can be confusing
1. When completing returns for self and wife it updates profiles and collects slip data for each as it goes along so u constantly flip from your pile to the wife`s pile and back again. I would prefer to go through one person at a time.
2. Some forms run off the page a bit concealing options e.g T5 slips - other boxes - missed them the first time around
3. I found the medical expense optimizer difficult to reconcile - had to go back and uncheck a box on a form before it worked. Gave the same answer tho but it was unnecessarily complex.
4. When e-filing it popped up a couple of warnings (inapplicable) that should have turned up much earlier in the process - not sure whats going on there.

Good Easy Program
Very easy to use and helpful for novices or more advanced users. Only negative is I consolidate my stock transactions and could not enter more than $9999999 (7 figures) in Schedule 3 but this shouldn't affect most users.

It is OK
Overall I enjoy the product. The entry, particularly for changes is quick.
I did experience some frustration with the capital gains this year because it was not clear enough to me that the T5008 entry and the capital gains section for stocks in effect duplicated your capital gains entry. I also wish that you could easily split joint capital gains with your spouse (as you do for investment income)
I don't know how it happened but I showed an installment payment in my deductions section and it took me 1/2 hour to figure out how to get rid of it back in the profile section in a field that I did not make an entry. The Q&A support eventually helped me locate the issue.
Ease of Pension splitting, medical and donation manipulation is the chief reason I use this product. - It saves me money!

Somewhat satisfied
I've used TurboTax for several years, and it has saved me much time over filing by hand. I don't find the "help" information as comprehensive as it once was (at least that's my impression), and this year the CRA tax data import feature did not work correctly. When I contacted TTax for help, I was told to reboot my computer and try again. Rebooting didn't help, and so I ended up inputting the data into TTax by hand. Even though that took considerable time, it was a more-certain solution than going through TTax technical help again. Also, I'm not convinced the higher-cost versions are necessary or worth the extra cost, unless you don't have much experience with, e.g., business or investment income tax. I'm tempted to try alternative software next year.

Easy to use
I have used TurboTax to file my taxes for the last 5-6 years now. It is very easy to use, especially for first time users. The language is clear, help options are available and it is easy to see/learn what impacts your income.
What I experienced this year, however, was a lag when inputting the information. It lagged as I tried to go to the next screen and when saving it before I closed the program. It fixed itself after about a week's use and updating the software each time helped. It was a lot quicker last year.

Might be worth the high price
A great program that does a great deal of the work in the background for your. Forms method or Easy Step work equally well. However, once you get started using it you are stuck paying an ever increasing price year after year to merge each years returns. Before you buy for the first time look for cheaper alternatives to avoid the cycle. It should never cost this much after the platform has been built some 12 years ago.

It did the job
It took a little while to figure it out and the help icon was not extremely helpful.
Once I figured it out, it then did a pretty good job. It was not quite as flexible or capable as what I expected compared to my previous tax software (professional software). The cost for Turbo Tax was quite a bit cheaper though. Had I not lost all my data on my previous computer, I probably would have continued to use my old software.
Turbo Tax does a great job for basic to somewhat complex tax returns. I will probably continue to use it in the future as my situation has changed dramatically as I am mostly retired now and have sold off my primary company.

First time use
I bought Turbo Tax from Costco and upgraded it online. This is the first time I've used this software. It's quite easy to use. I do not know if I will receive the maximum refund with Turbo Tax.

Overall Pretty Good
I like this version of turbo tax. The only downfall I can see is in the information regarding the new requirement to report the sale of a principal residence. The help info. did not provide enough information and I had to contact the CRA for clarification. Other than that it is a fairly easy program to navigate. I have a tax background so for me it went smoothly.
