Fairly straightforward, but ...
I had some trouble initially getting the Autofill function going, but with some re-work, I managed.
The "Express Notice of Assessment" reporting back to TurboTax from the CRA website that is supposed to be available after using Netfile did not work for me, in spite of numerous attempts and re-tries.
TurboTax Premier is expensive and this factor makes me wonder if it was a worthwhile extra cost versus buying the Standard version, especially for preparing only 2 tax returns (?). I might simply return to using TurboTax Standard next year.

Pretty good but one concern
My first use of this year's product skipped the step in the beginning when I am to enter my T-Slips and Releves. I had to use the left hand column to find the step I needed. Not sure why this happened. I have more returns to do so I'll check again then. Apart from that I am very pleased with the improvements.

Expected More from Premier
For a number of years I have used the 'Standard' edition of Turbo Tax - always with a high degree satisfaction. With a small investment portfolio (mostly mutual funds and stocks) and now some selling activity in addition to just buying (brings in Capital Gains), I thought I'd try the 'Premier' edition. It did not seem to be a significant enhancement from the 'Standard' version, despite being at twice the cost. Perhaps it handles rental properties better. Still don't know where the 'investment profiling' feature is to be found.

The netfile would not let me click on to it had a do not enter symbol there no explanation why and the following day it opened up for me---too long in limbo.

It needs some fixing
Turbo Tax 2016 is for the most part quite an easy program to use. However, the charitable donations optimizer, etc. are not user friendly. We found the charitable donations section to be lacking in integrity. It is difficult to assess as to who should claim, how much to claim, whether the carry forward is actually working; the optimizer scale is not very functional and thus at the end one is not sure if the donation amounts are optimized or not. Without a doubt Turbo Tax has CRA program format rules to live by, but this time around I find the program becoming awkward to use.

Easiest prep software
This software is generally very easy to use whether you know your way around software or you are new to preparing tax returns. A couple of quirks, the software does not give you an obvious place to enter whether you own foreign property or whether you are a Canadian citizen and it often shows as as an error before the return is netfiled. Also adding more return licences can be a challenge - the software makes it difficult to accept new licence for additional returns.

Good application
Easy to use, easy to follow directions, easy to use wizards to optimize medical, charity, and RSP contributions. Could do with more help in the Provincial part of the tax return. Some questions invite the user to call on HELP but with no results returned. Could do with more advice on which spouse should claim property tax credits.

Turbo 2016 - great
I have used other programs in the past. It took a bit of time to get used to the features of Turbo, but once I became familiar with them I found it smooth and easy.

Long term user
In general a very good and easy to use. It greatly reduces the time effort and expense of filing taxes.
The only negative is the display of income after splitting pension income. It displays my entire income including the amount split to my wife then displays my wife' income also including the amount of my income split to her. The final result is correct.

Nice improvements
Thanks TurboTax for the improvements on the Open screen ... much more obvious now how to open a return already in progress. Those initial screens are clearer. And the option to now submit to CRA is clean and straightforward. Why would I use any different product??

Some flaws for non-residents
Generally a great product, but has some flaws for non-residents of Canada, who are filing a Canadian return. For example, complains about the postal code format being wrong. More importantly, it does not recognize that as a non-resident, only dividend income is taxable.
These issues make it a little difficult to use if you are a non-resident.

Never got call back for help
There were questions I had about splitting T3 slips with my spouse that I wasn't fully clear on from the help function. Website wasn't working and didn't get call backs from the helpline (which was very hard to find, some of the help numbers weren't in service, I assume they were old ones?).

Best tool for rental income
This software's step by step program makes it easy to use. The only drawbacks are a) when you go to forms it's confusing to go back to steps, b) when you open a page using tips or warnings, it's confusing to find it again, c) sometimes it fails to save entered information for unknown reasons.
Other than these minor issues it's the software of my choice for complicated forms such as rental income.

Taxes much easier
Enter a tax slip once, and Turbo tax does the rest. I'm not a tax expert, and sometimes it does seem vague knowing what goes where. But when I got stuck, free help was available from Turbo Tax, CRA, or the person who issued the tax slip. Then take notes, for the next year, because it will likely be very similar.

Tuition transfer to a parent
Tuition to transfer to parent. I entered an amount to transfer to a parent, even though it said $0.00 allowed.Used the carry forward from the previous year. The program should have corrected that or sent me a warning. If not noticed, the parent got the deduction and it should not have been allowed on the daughters return when i entered it. Please add a warning.

Overall excellent - help file needs work
Every year the help file tells you specifically stuff about the page you are on in easy steps. This year, it is wide open and like a google search but it takes a while to find what you are looking for and sometimes you can't. I liked it better the old way with relevant info. All other pages ask me to split my expenses with my wife but I couldn't figure out how to split. I rely on the software to tell me not the other way around. The help file does not tell you info relavent to the page you are on. This is the automatic first step. This year the support is missing.

Glitch
There was a glitch in the returns counter in this years program. Shorted me by 5 returns over $25000.Seems somebody else was using my key code to file returns.

Not as good as last year
As always Turbo Tax delivers. This year the program is a little more difficult to use. The fields are smaller and harder to see because the font appears smaller. This leads to missing some details and having to go back to re-enter.
The worst part is the CD there is a glitch and it stops working so we had to uninstall the program download a new version and re-install. The CD is a big time waster.
