some issues
generally like turbo tax and have used it for many years. 2 comments. firstly for those of us over 30 the font is way way too small. Secondly when inputting investment information and particularly capital gains and losses and sale of jointly held stocks - the process is cumbersome.
Otherwise - fairly happy with the product.

Unused RRSP contribution limit
I always have trouble when I only want to apply part of the Unused RRSP contribution carried forwarded from the previous year. I wish during the Interview, I was asked what was the amount available on the Notice of Assessment and the amount I would like to use for the return. Does anyone else experience have the similar problem ? Also I am so tempted to try the other competitor's software to see if Turbo Tax is worth the extra $.

Works, but I worry if I got my biggest deduction
I've used turbo tax for years. It's a pretty good software and it works.
But this year my brother pointed out to me that the donation optimizer doesn't work. If your donations put your provincial return to $0, any donations above this are lost. The software should be able to catch something like this and put it to my wife instead (I saved $50 by moving some of my donations it to my wife manually).
I hope that there aren't other things that the software missed.

Easy Tax Time

Missed it by that much
Though I think that this is a brilliant product the only issue I had was that portions of the wizard only showed me the information it contained if I went back through the forms. Other than that, great work!!

Improves every year
I have used this software or its predecessor for 10 years and it has become easier to use every year.
Features such as:
-re-opening and being where you left off
-searching forms and T-slips in drop-down lists
-easy to make changes to forms and have the updates done immediately
-prompts for guided use are easy to follow.
Despite the ease of use, one always has to go back to Revenue Canada for reference to the tax guides when you are not sure what to include on a specific line, especially when including expenses or other types of deductions.
Adding if a cost or expense should include the GST or not would be helpful.

Sucks for Dead People
If your are trying to do a return for a deceased person, this package is missing helpful features such as how to apply capital losses from previous years to offset year of death regular income.

Generally good
Its generally good. The autofill feature didn't work for me. I couldn't paste into many of the forms (e.g. where there was a subform as for boxes 49,50,51.

I would have given it a 5 star rating except for the microscopic sized font. It is nearly impossible to read and zooming sends everything off page making it very difficult to navigate through the phrases and check boxes. Otherwise it is an excellent program.

Use every year its easy
I have used this product pretty much since if first came out. I know some people use free software or software you pay once for. That is fine, but for reliability up to date information on line help community etc.. is why I use it. Yes, it is a more expensive option but it really does help make tax season go faster and because I can do multiple returns I can spread the cost over all family members which is also a plus as it gives them the same benefits.

investment income
If I enter my investment income and stipulate I want to claim 50% and the other 50% for my spouse, why doesn't TurboTax automatically fill in my spouse's return with the information? It would save me a lot of time and hassle!

Easy to Use, One Suggestion
Turbo tax is an easy program to use, which is why I keep buying it year after year. Surprised that this year I had to populate it myself with basic data, e.g. name, d.o.b. and SIN. Previously it did it automatically from the year before. I preferred the auto fill-in.

Good product
Very easy to use. Clear and concise.
Only issue that is confusing is at the end after you have submitted your netfile it asks you again. It does show you confirmation that you did submit but asks you if you want to submit by mail or that you are done. Somewhat redundant and possibly confusing for elderly people

I purchased TurboTax Premier this year instead of the standard as I had a Estate income tax to file as well as one with income from land rental. TurboTax stepped me through the estate one easily - I did have to refer to CRA's documentation, however, I found it lacking on where to enter expenses incurred on behalf of land rental, finally found it and then it was easy to follow.

Turbo Tax 2016
Once again we filed with Turbo Tax. All in all the software made our filing fairly painless. I wish though that there was an option to identify joint accounts so that once joint investment information was entered it would be easier to move it between my spouse and myself to see where the investments should be claimed to make them most tax efficient.

Too Expensive
I had Turbo Tax Standard sent to me directly, but when I went to file my return had to get Turbo Tax Premier at an additional cost. Paying for the Standard, and then the Premier made the tax software expensive.
Will not use Turbo tax in future, but other tax software which is more reasonable in cost

Solid Tax Prep Software
Great value when used for multiple returns. Easy to use and intuitive. I've never had an accuracy dispute with CRA when using this product.
The program could be even friendlier to use if in Windows 10 the application window could be resized in two directions and moved around the desktop properly. It would make entering data from spreadsheets much easier and quicker. Also, the application takes you to a print page after Netfiling with CRA, even if you've already printed it, which is a little redundant.

I have always really likes Turbo Tax - easy to use BUT this year by mistake I said YES to the password but did not Efile right away...when I was eventually ready to Efile I could not remember my password, nor could I find any customer service phone number...VERY frustrating - finally had to just redo the entire return UGH!!

Learning about my taxes
When I went into the help on several items it just came up that Turbo Tax makes that calculation. While that is fine to get the forms filled out. Two reasons i would like to access the methodology are that by understanding how the tax is calculated gives me an idea of how to arrange my finances and secondly I am ultimately the responsibility party.

Better than average
TurboTax is excellent for computing the figures.
Howeever, it was not able to give me the average US dollar exchange rate for the year 2016.
Also, there was no way given for me to review the completed tax returns page by page. Only a summary was offered.

I found it less helpful than it could have been. It gave me an option to claim the work benefit when I had already indicated I was a student. It did not let me know I could not until the review. I think that by indicating I was a student, it should not offer me the option of claiming the benefit.
